Is that because they're ravin' lunatics?

States have always had their nicknames. Western Australians are known as Sandgropers, Queenslanders as Banana Benders, Tasmanians as Apple Eaters and so on. South Australians are called Crow Eaters. When it was time to name the new team, they realised that everybody would call them "crows" regardless of any other chosen name so decided to stick with that nickname. Further, facts don't seem to have much bearing on teams' nicknames. You'd be hard pressed to find any lion, tigers or bears in Australia. The presence of saints in St Kilda is also a matter of opinion.

Of course not, they've all been killed after being hit by trucks.

Well, now that the Ralph rumour has been exposed for the BS it always was and Tom Sparrow has re-signed with the mighty Demons, I'd like to share a fascinating story I read recently about crows of the feathered variety. Researchers for VicRoads found over 200 dead crows on the Western Highway near Horsham recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A bird pathologist examined the remains of all the crows and, to everybody's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely not Avian Flu. Rather, the cause of death appeared to be vehicular impact. During the detailed investigation, it was noted that varying colours of paint appeared on the birds' beaks and claws. By analysing these paint residues, it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks while only 2% were killed by impact with cars. VicRoads then hired an ornithological behaviourist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentage of truck kills versus car kills. The expert very quickly concluded the cause. When crows eat roadkill, they always have a lookout crow in a nearby tree or high vantage point to warn of impending danger. They discovered that all the lookout crows could shout "Cah!" but not a single one could shout "Truck!".

Is it true that t-shirts were named after T-Rex because of their short arms?

In his defence, it's very difficult to to find a singlet with sleeves.

I'll start to worry if he's named on the wing.

The most recent bearers of the BS would be Billy Stretch, Brian Stynes and Brad Sparks.

Billy Snedden was a bit of player by all reports.

I was going to bump this thread, but thought I'd better not risk it at the moment.

An old mate lives five minutes away from Carrara Stadium and he and his wife switched to supporting the Gold Coast when they first entered the AFL. Until then he'd always barracked for Richmond but is now unable to claim any bragging rights for their three recent flags, a fact I feel the need to remind him of regularly.

I don't think that's his foot.

Campbell's younger brother Henry at Hawthorn looks like he might be a player.

Clips of Gawn's long bomb and Windsor's running goal are on the afl website. Demonland's own @WalkingCivilWar also makes an appearance!

Appreciate your reports, Andy. Like most of us, I'm ready for footy again. At this stage it looks like a close race between Verrall and Fullarton for the ignominy of having their surnames continually misspelled. (The crown is vacant with the retirement of Bradshaw.) -
Max played 85 games for the mighty Demons.

He realised just at the last moment that he's holding his jumper back to front.

It's a ragebait click generator and it works every year. Robbo's opinion is irrelevant to me.

Post reported. Enjoy your holiday from Demonland @marieisademon. -
Tony inherited the "Spud" nickname from his father Adrian, who played over 100 games for Melbourne, including two premierships. I don't know the origin of the nickname.

Duncan Wright vs Brayden Maynard. Similarities?

The birth would have occurred nine months after the flag I'd have thought.
