  1. A little clue for my remaining three? All started their career at other clubs.
  2. That appears to be your default setting, Billy.
  3. Three to go, thrillseekers - numbers 3, 4 and 6 still to be solved. @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew got 3 and 6 but had already fulfilled his quota of two correct answers per poster. Still haven't heard from regulars like @Lucifers Hero, @WalkingCivilWar, @Jumping Jack Clennett or @Mazer Rackham
  4. I'm quite Fonda jokes like this.
  5. It's a big shout out to another new player @Hawk the Demon who has snared an answer. 8. Jack Grimes (dismal = grim plus points = e and s for east and south: points on the compass) edit: HtD is on fire! Consider no. 5 also solved. 5. Gary Moorcroft (moor = make fast plus croft = a small garden, esp. in Scotland)
  6. We have a new player and winner. Well done to @Bingo for snaffling his first cryptic. 2. Jay Lockhart (seal = lock plus stag = hart)
  7. No surprise that @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew has picked a winner. 1. Matthew Warnock (battle = war plus scar = nock) edit: He's also managed to decipher another 7. Travis Johnstone (Jack = John plus [Charlie] Watts =[Rolling] Stone

Just watched that and have some observations: 1. Our forward line was dysfunctional with the ball just being bombed in. 2. Robert Flower wasn't playing or was off injured. 3. The commentators actually called the game without all the BS. 4. The MCG had a few patches with no grass, particularly the centre square. 5. Sean Wight was a champion. 6. I was expecting a last-minute win to the Demons. I'm retrospectively shattered.
  9. Congratulations are in order for @reynolds46 who has has submitted two correct answers. 9. Chris Heffernan (moo moo is a cow or heifer whose ma's ma is her nan). 10. Michael or Ben Newton (current = new plus weight = ton)
  10. I think I'll let that one go.
  11. While we're waiting for the teams to be announced, here's a little diversion for those desperate to kill some time. Below is a list of ten cryptic clues that relate to the surname of players who have been on our list since the year 2000. For those unsure of how cryptics work, each clue is a little puzzle and is not intended to be taken literally. An example of a cryptic clue would be "Drawback". This would refer to Daniel Ward (draw spelled backwards). At this stage there's a limit of two correct answers per poster. All answers in a PM please! =============================================================== 1. Battle scar WARNOCK 2. Seal stag LOCKHART 3. Grasp a wing SEECAMP 4. A real mongrel CROSS 5. Make fast garden MOORCROFT 6. Fritz Bomber LANGDON 7. Jack Watts JOHNSTONE 8. Dismal points GRIMES 9. Moo moo's ma's ma HEFFERNAN 10. Current weight NEWTON
  12. Whelp, I just don't know what nickname he'll end up with.

Not sure if previously posted, but I'd love to see this live. edit: Look for Max Gawn (in light blue t-shirt) at 0:39!!

Can't people get through a couple of hours at the footy without feeding their face? You do realise of course that any food is taking up valuable beer space in your stomach.
  15. I suspect we did so with the intention of drafting Holmes, but we were gazumped at the 11th hour.
  16. I don't care that much about the Rising Star Award or who gets the weekly nod. It's little more than a sideshow for me and certainly nothing to get worked up about. Coincidentally, the three Melbourne players who won the award all subsequently left our club.
  17. Yes, when he's ready for AFL level. Will Verrall is not at this stage of his career at this point.
  18. Josh Treacy was selected in the Rookie Draft. 18 clubs overlooked him prior to that!
  19. Very, very few good players. McCreery probably the pick of them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_AFL_draft
  20. Imagine if McDonald's sponsored our hallowed home ground and called it the McG.
  21. I knew we should have picked up this bloke.
  22. Are we talking about Carrara Stadium? I steadfastly refuse to call footy grounds [insert current sponsor's name here].
  23. Tommy is playing so well in defence I'd be loath to move him anywhere else. It has to be Fullarton in the ruck for mine.

I'm surprised that posters aren't criticising Kozzy over the proximity of his knee to his opponent's head. (Voted for Kozzy and Fritta BTW!)
