2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Demonstone replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love the father/son rule and hope it's never abolished. It's one of the few romantic aspects of what has become more of a hard-nosed business and less of a game in recent times. No team gains an unfair advantage with it as it's down to luck which sons of former players are up to AFL level. Geelong were fortunate as are Collingwood right now but it's available for all clubs to utilise. I'll be even further enamoured with the rule if Kynan Brown, Noah Yze, Kalani White et al turn out to be great players. -
Good point, Nascent.

Looks 50/50 to me, Luci. They both play Crows and Suns, so those two games cancel out. Of the other three games, I wouldn't expect either North or West Coast to win any of them so it might just come down to percentage in the end. It's your classic "race to the bottom" scenario with North finishing last the better result for us.

Bhang! Bhang bhang bhang!

I saw a couple of our players slip over today. Are our footwear maintenance technicians state of the art or do we still have a load of old cobblers? #Sackthebootstudder

We need to wear our normal jumper this week

And here it is folks, a classic case study in mistaking coincidence for causation. -
Equal top and with the stingiest defence in the competition while not having been at our best. People with better knowledge than me say that defence wins premierships.

That would really test his aerobic capacity.

We won't have to worry about Charlie Dixon being part of those waves.

Would that fish be a sole?

Put them in his mouth?

Is that his maternal grandfather, dazzle? Ian Brayshaw is still alive and kicking at the age of 80.

Tonight's Round 18 Team Selection Heavyweight Blockbuster at Festival Hall! In the red and blue corner: (The Champion) Reigning Premiership Coach Simon Goodwin, his Selection Committee and his team of assistants with vast experience of playing and coaching at the highest level (at left in photo). VS In the black corner: (The Challengers) Demonland posters who have no experience at AFL level but who like to think that they know more than the professionals (at right in photo).

Demonstone's "Sunday Too Far Away" Super Special Stumper
Demonstone replied to Demonstone's topic in Melbourne Demons
Magnificent effort there, LD-vC. Urban wore #2 which is an unusually low number for a bloke who only managed one game. I wonder if he suffered a serious injury or maybe he just wasn't much chop. -
I'd only be mildly interested.

I'll be singing "Joy To The World" if we win.

Andy Moniz-Dakefield I presume.

Demonstone's "Sunday Too Far Away" Super Special Stumper
Demonstone replied to Demonstone's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jontee, Spud and Neil Crompton have come up with the correct answer but, with all medals awarded, will have to console themselves with a virtual participation ribbon. The answer is that the team is named in alphabetical order by first name, the nicknames being used to make it a little more challenging and requiring some lateral thinking. Due to the ancient nature of some of the players, this teaser suited our more mature posters. I had to stop at "T" because I don't know of any player whose first name begins with "U". Anybody know of one? The team with actual first names: B: Alan Gale Brian Roberts Christian Salem H/B: Don Fraser Edward Whitten Frank Hughes C: Graham Farmer Harry Vallence Ian Hampshire H/F: John Newman Kevin Neale Lance Franklin F: Matthew Burton Neil Clarke Oliver Wines R: Peter Keenan Quinton Narkle Robert Skilton 19th: Stephen Kernahan 20th: Terry Wallace -
Sean Wight.

Hint #5: The nicknames are a misdirection. -

Bronze medal has been won by Jumping Jack Clennett. I'll leave the teaser open for a while longer with the reveal to occur around 5pm. -

I thought we might get there by process of elimination, Luci! However, it's getting late so here's a more direct clue. Hint #4: The players don't just have surnames. -

Nothing to do with comic books or any other type of publication. -

The answer is not film related. Hint #3: It has nothing to do with music or any of the other arts, either. -
It's about a Melbourne player, so the one on the left I would say.
