I disagree at this stage of his career. Having coached juniors I wanted them to test thier ability to move in space, break tackles and find the best option, within reason. You can't learn how to break tackles, unless you try to break tackles. And in this game you need a bull who has this ability. Build this capability and find the threshold. Best place to do this is in training.

He is a 22 year old and last year was his first full season since being drafted. He lost time due to an ACL. He kicked 4 goals in an AFL game as a 19 year old. He is an ultra big bodied mid who is very strong in the air and can kick a snag. This is good. If he continues to build on last season effort he gets a game at all of those teams. Injury is the caveat. List managers should get sacked at West Coast for premature ejection. They know that they have majorly screwed up. Google Joanie whippersnapper.

I like the idea of Buckley but he needs support as a people manager. He is a smart football tactician but has the warmth and likeability of a house brick. One of those mission brown ones from the 70s. Knowing some in the industry I fear that this has been the barrier for him in the past. We will need a Craig McCrae type assistant to build the bridge between process and people.

I think he would struggle finding any takers. He has had opportunities in other seasons and hasn't quite grabbed them. It's a brutal game, especially for an undersized slowish pocket/flanker and it would be hard to see him getting a spot on any list. He hasn't had many games because his physical limitations limit his versatility. Where do you play him?

Contracted till the end of next year which i would say is fortunate for him. Nice enough footballer, but too small with no weapons.
