Somewhat surprised that the Weid is so far down the list.  Is one of the form forwards of the comp and his contribution to team structure has been very important to us.  Perhaps another case of awards voting not being a true reflection of player value.

He’s averaging around two goals a game but every week he’s more or less at that average and he’s also having a lot of games where he’s out of the action for periods which isn’t conducive to getting the big voting scores.

    First Semi Final  Day 1964

Geelong dominated the second half of the first semi final in front of a crowd of 92,231 at the MCG winning with a score of 12.12.84 to 10.5.65.

Otherwise, Saturday 29 August, 1964 was a quiet day for Demon fans.

have we ever played there at night?

I seem to recall a preseason night game over there against the Cats in Hogan’s first season back after he injured his knee as an 18 year old. He might have injured himself that night as well.

Jebus. I was hoping for a 4th option.

It will be a much weakened team regardless. Preuss's last couple of games for us were very poor. His work around the ground almost non-existent

I would not be surprised at all if they get creative with the ruck situation rather than playing Preuss

If you insist on a fourth option, try Austin Bradtke and then go back to the first option.

  5. The wash up from the trade period is that six players - Harriet Cordner, Bianca Jakobsson, Elise O'Dea, Maddy Guerin, Aliesha Newman, and Katherine Smith - have departed Melbourne and the club now has six picks in the top 30:-

    3, 9, 11, 23, 27, and 30.

The club must be fairly confident that there is plenty of young talent available from the draft.

Interesting that we've been linked to no one so for this year. I think this time last year we had Langdon and Tomlinson that was already on our radar.

With no 1st round pick, I do wonder whether whether we will be quiet in the trade period and focus more in going to the draft.

One player I wouldn’t mind being linked to is GWS’s Zac Williams for a bit of pace off half-back but he will come at a cost.

  7. I have attended only one game of AFL football this season and it happens to have been the scratch match against North Melbourne back in February. We creamed them back then and even though it was virtually a seconds game with a few VFL players thrown in, I’m confident that we can beat them again this time.

Did you stop reading half way through my post OD. That's exactly what i meant by:

'Make no mistake the doggies should have won.

Which is where the no comes in. Port were mentally tough enough to hang in the match in the first half and last quarter. And were able to raise an effort in in the third. More mentally than physically. It won them the game I couldn't help but be impressed. I thought they were a bit flakey.'

Port weren’t playing the top team on the ladder but rather a middle of the road team. That’s a big difference.

Get that Nietschke is gorn for the duration but a bit sad that Hore, Petty & Kolo can’t get beyond the indefinite tag.
