  1. Pick 5 is starting to sound just about right. Difficult to expect much better than that because of the four clubs below it -
  2. Wonder what happened at ESPN to Knightmare? He used to command pride of place there and was previous to that prolific on the bigfooty board. Probably made money writing for ESPN but no longer.
  3. This game highlights how unfair the AFL fixture is these days. Melbourne has to play Hawthorn twice after finishing second last year.
  4. The Cats are staring at the abyss at this stage. The question is whether the Hawks have got it in them to go the full four quarters. They couldn’t do it a fortnight ago against Essendon.
  5. I’ve just come across this rare photograph of Vincent Van Gogh taken in 1873 when he was 19 years old — the only known photograph of Van Gogh's face. Anyone else think that one of the art world’s greatest figures bears a striking resemblance to one of the football world’s greats?
  6. Casey kicking with the breeze in the last.
  7. There’s already an article about Zane Duursma on this thread. He was impressive as a work experience AFL Academy player when training with Melbourne in the preseason (along with Dandenong Stingrays Cooper Simpson). He’s taller than Xavier but has the talent and is touted as a top 10 pick so we could well be in the race for him come draft time. Here’s a recent article ~ Kicking and reaching goals no issue for potential No.1 pick
  8. Great to know that we’re on one of the lines of favouritism to get Harley Reid while still being a strong contender for the flag. And even in the likely event that we don’t get young Harley, it’s good to know that we are going to end up with some quality young players if the Dockers continue to be putrid - all thanks to the benevolence of Mr. Bell.
  9. Any chance we can temper our celebrations until after we’ve achieved the W and the game’s over?
  10. Tex is on heat. He’s snagged two in the first 5 minutes.
  11. They’ll definitely take one more player - most likely Tomlinson because Melksham needs game time.
  12. It’s like stealing candy from a baby now. The undersized Kanga defence is in big trouble.
  13. It’s the AFL App with Sportsbet odds. Surely they can’t get such important things wrong?
  14. I’m not sure how this works but someone must have put money on the Eagles. We’re now at $1.30.
  15. Oh, that Robbo!
  16. I just call him “Rosebud”.
  17. Charlie!!!
  18. Not just employed, he plays for their reserves and was one of their best players in a losing team vs Brisbane VFL this afternoon. I have no doubt Nev would be able to give Kozzie the best advice as to any football and personal direction. Nev came to Melbourne from outback WA and spent more than a decade here without any issues about returning home. He would also be aware of the story of Jeff Farmer and his later regrets about returning to WA and of course, the train wreck that was Jesse Hogan’s move to the Dockers a few years ago.
  19. The moderators have to make judgments about the evidence presented and, at this early stage, we reserve the right to err on the side of caution about what we can allow in terms of descriptions of the content of the video.
  20. There’s definitely some good football content in the Herald Sun but I can’t help having noticed on several occasions lately that the paper is starting to take on the look and feel of the old Melbourne Truth. There’s something about the way they run with their stories these days that’s grating - as if they fired the person who does the fact checking so that they shoot first, ask questions later and leave the reader wondering what the real story is all about.
  21. Even though Ben Brown has been cleared to play at the weekend, it’s still up in the air as to whether the club would take him on both upcoming interstate fixtures. We also have a couple potential Mystery Injuries of the Week. Track watcher kev martin has reported that Michael Hibberd has an Achilles and young ruckman Kyah Farris-White was also in the rehab group with him. Still prefer our list to that of our opponents this week.
  22. The article turned up in today’s Herald Sun at p46.
