  1. A number of previously fancied players missed out entirely on being drafted this year. Draft analyst Ed Pascoe tweeted before the rookie draft that some of these included the likes of Sam Gilbey, Mitch Szybkowski, Adam D'Aloia, Kobe Ryan, Hudson O'Keefe and Luke Teal. None of these players were rookied. Pascoe noted that Sam Gilbey in particular has some “undeniable talent” despite having had a very unlucky year with injury. I wonder whether some of these players might be included by the Demons as train on players for pre-season supplemental selection?
  2. Stuff and nonsense. As pointed out above there are many reasons why these exercises are pointless, the main one being that if you have a poor season you have a better chance of rating well simply because you get the early choices or if you’re lucky enough to have a couple of decent father sons then you’ve got the magic, golden ticket. Gold Coast get a B but the background is that they sold a top 10 pick for salary gap relief and gave away a quality player to get pick 6. And for that solitary 2022 selection of theirs, they got a “B”? The jury is still out on their 2021 picks as well. This is rubbish passing for “news”.

  4. Good luck in the future to FEB. Perhaps he might try out at Casey and work his way up into the AFL with a good season there.
  5. Apparently impressed at a training run (organised by his management group Connors Sports Management) in contests with George Wardlaw. I’ve watch Wardlaw ever since he was a junior with St Peters in the SMJFL and I can assure you that not many young footballers would have stood up to that test.
  6. A smoky from Mansfield. Powerful mid-sized forward with great goal sense who has to date, only played football at school and junior level.
  7. An athletic 199cm ruckman from South Australia with room to grow who had some injury concerns in 2021/2 ~ Will Verrall “… his best, Will Verrall is as good as (Harry) Barnett. So (AFL) clubs are doing some work on Will Verrall now based on what he did as a 17-year-old, knowing it was at a really high level.” - Tony Bamford SA Under 18 State Coach.
  8. A number of players have joined clubs as NGA players including Anthony Munkara of Essendon. Osca Riccardi (f/s) added to Geelong’s list.

  10. From today’s Herald Sun report:- HOWES THAT YOUNGSTER Blake Howes earned the plaudits of senior Demons by laying a crunching tackle on Christian Petracca after an attempted fend-off during match simulation. Howes, pick 39 in last year’s draft, wrapped the star midfielder up before dragging him down to the applause of his teammates. Even Petracca was happy with the effort, rising to his feet to tap Howes on the back.

  19. Unfortunately, this isn't part of a script for the Castle. I wish KFW all the best but the percentages are against him making it. That said, if he does get senior games, it will be an enormous bonus for the club.
