  1. Amazing what a Dockers win has done to this thread which I found on Page 3. Anyway, this is how things stand with four rounds to play:-
  2. Now that he’s retired, this has been renamed “The Lance 'Buddy' Franklin Non Thread”.
  3. Cardinal rule in football is take things one week at a time. We’re playing North Melbourne this week - let’s concentrate on that game. 😀
  4. Could it be announced as early as tomorrow?
  5. The Rookie Me Central July Power Rankings are out and it’s no surprise that Harley Reid is still #1.
  6. People are referring to the fact that the results in the games played so far in this round have been upset games but Richmond are on a bit of a run having won 6 out of their last 7 games which is a better run that we’ve had in that time. So in reality, it’s us who have our backs against the wall and on that basis, I believe we’ll follow the trend of the round by upsetting the Tigers.
  7. Kelli Underwood late in the game at Carrara - "This is a significant 4 minutes coming up in the history of the Gold Coast Lions"
  8. Never rely on GCS to win games late in the season.
  9. Now Casey’s fate is in its own hands with Gold Coast’s big comeback over the Lions. All the Demons have to do is win their three remaining games and percentage won’t even come into it. A win tomorrow would put Casey half a game behind them with a home game against them in the final round. Box Hill won today and will probably win their remaining games to finish third.
  10. Meanwhile, Casey’s hopes of making the top four are evaporating. They depend on one of the teams above them losing one or two games and of course, winning all of their remaining games. I was hoping the Brisbane Lions might lose to top side Gold Coast at Carrara but late in the first quarter they were 40 points up on the Suns.
  11. On a happier note, we did get up to beat Essendon on the following Saturday. Robert Walters kicked nine goals.
  12. On this day, 28 July, in 1979 ...
  13. I just have this feeling that Carlton will win tonight.
  14. Jayden Short failed to come up for Richmond which is a win for us as far as I’m concerned.
  15. An interesting “in” ~ K. Brown, son of Doggy Casey has had some torrid clashes against the Seagulls in recent years so it needs to be at full strength. This team looks quite strong to me.
  16. I reckon Millie gets four weeks for the strike in the last round. Deliberate, high contact and high impact.
  17. Good fight but I’d like to see her playing footy in the future.
  18. No mention of Jake Bowey who copped a knock in the game vs Adelaide which makes him favourite for the mystery injury for this week.
  19. They just beat bottom three club Hawthorn with a last ditch effort late in the game. Yes, they are still aiming for the finals but I’m not convinced.
  20. There were some gems involved in early Saturday morning viewing during the late 70s.
  21. Some more mixed messaging to throw people off the scent?
  22. Went out to dinner this evening and was told by one of the others in attendance that Melbourne is lucky to be in its current place because it should/could have easily have lost the last two games which it won by narrow margins (leaving aside the fact that previously it had also lost some games by narrow margins). The same person is in awe of Collingwood’s fantastic ability to win the close ones which is what “makes them such a great team”. Remarkable!
  23. Surely it’s time to put Gunston in defence as a spare man?
  24. Hawks doing well - they’re certainly not tanking!
  25. As predicted by me exclusively on Tuesday in the injury thread, … “The scene is perfectly set for a couple of Mystery Injuries of the Week.” Harry Petty was down as a test and hasn’t come up but the real mystery is Blake Howes which is a pity because he was coming close to earning an AFL game.
