  1. Not the worst GWS player by a long way.
  2. Pickett - Best debut in a grand final for a long time, I reckon.
  3. Well for one, you guys split yourselves off from the rest of the continent.
  4. Team Brown reigns supreme in Under 17s Future game
  5. This is the start of the 2020 season. Clarrie will kick a bit more next year
  6. A comprehensive win to the Jonathon Brown team over the Nick dal Santo side. The game highlights the talent of the northern states academies which are all a fair bit stronger than the NGA. There are some good kids coming up from the academies in the near future, especially for GWS.
  7. I’ve been waiting all year for this.
  8. Not that I’m aware of but I do know that all AFL clubs spend a lot of time with their own local development areas.
  9. Those concerned about the lack of numbers on our NGA list should be aware that the list reflects players eligible this year and the fact that there are a number eligible doesn’t mean much if those players lack the talent to get drafted. There would be a number on those lists who struggle to get games with their Under 18 NAB Cup teams. I believe there will be a couple of prospects available to us in next year’s crop.
  10. None on the list on this link but we do have one prospect Deakyn Smith who is on next year’s Next Generation Academy who isn’t playing today.
  11. The game is on now and all eyes would be on Jamarra Ugle-Hagan who will be all the rage in next year’s draft. The kid is being hailed as the next Buddy. Sadly, he’s in the Bulldog’s Next Generation Academy so they will have the first dibs.
  12. I think it’s interesting that Patrick Cripps was on course to win the Brownlow until Teague came along and changed the way Carlton played bringing more players to the fore who ultimately took votes away from him.
  13. On another note, what do people think of New Zealand’s tactic of use of two fly-halves in the Rugby World Cup?
  14. I was at a local final yesterday and speaking with some Essendon supporters who are expecting him to go to the Swans. They believe that Daniher has some serious fitness issues but notwithstanding the fact that he’s going to find it difficult to get back on the park, are expecting a couple of first round picks in exchange.
  15. He’s still just 12 but seems to be coming along nicely.
  16. The decision is set to be announced in the next few days. The conspiracy theorists will maintain that the AFL is deliberately burying the story amid the general noise of the Brownlow Medal count and the hype surrounding Grand Final week. It’s indisputable that the Gold Coast Suns need special assistance. The help they received last year wasn’t enough to provide the instant fix they wanted but there were some extenuating circumstances. They had salary cap issues and let a top line midfielder in Jarryd Lyons go to Brisbane for nothing, their #3 draft pick in Izak Rankine was injured and didn’t play a game and not enough time has passed to determine how they fared in trading out Lynch and May. They are set to lose a potential gun in Jack Martin. Yet the word is out that the Suns are set to receive a priority draft pick at the start of the draft - notwithstanding that they have performed no worse than Melbourne did when it was crying out for draft assistance earlier this decade and was categorically denied. I accept that Melbourne will be the main “victim” of such a move and that it’s not a great disaster to get #3 instead of #2 but it nevertheless reeks of AFL inconsistency and decision-making on the run. The governing body seems clueless and conflicted whether it’s in making decisions on priority picks or in allowing people to sit on tribunals who clearly should not be there.

  18. Huge game by likely No.1 draft star leads Oakleigh to Grand Final win Rowell masterclass leads Oakleigh to a dominant premiership Likely No. 1 pick Matt Rowell dominant as Oakleigh claim flag
  19. Chargers win and Rowell BOG 2019 NAB League Eastern Ranges 1.0 3.3 4.5 5.6 (36) Oakleigh Chargers 2.7 3.12 10.13 12.17 (89) GOALS: Eastern Ranges: Keeling Mellis Hickleton Clarke Duffy Oakleigh Chargers: Lucas 3 Laurie 2 Phillips 2 Rowell 2 Graham Sharman Stathopoulos BEST: Eastern Ranges: Nathan Stapleton Ross Mellis Parker Garner Oakleigh Chargers: Rowell Schreiber Laurie Bryan Mastras Lucas
  20. Chargers well in control.
  21. Chargers 2.10.22 to Rangers 3.3.21
  22. The main players to watch are the Oakleigh Chargers duo of Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell who are touted as the #1 and #2 picks at November’s National Draft. They were obvious picks go to next month’s National Draft Combine and will be joined by teammates Trent Bianco, Nick Bryan, Cooper Sharman and Dylan Williams. The Eastern Ranges must be a very even side because they have no invitees from their list although Tyler Edwards, Lachlan Gawel, Billy McCormack, Mitch Mellis, Zak Pretty, Jamieson Rossiter and Lachlan Stapleton will be tested at the State Combines along with Oakleigh Chargers pair Josh May and Kaden Schreiber. Lachlan Johnson of Oakleigh Chargers and Riley Smith of Eastern Ranges will try out at the Rookie Me Combine. In addition to Anderson and Rowell, the player to watch is Trent Bianco who is a good mover and accurate disposed of the football. I would rank him as late first/early second round but he could rise up the list with a good performance in the grand final and/or at the Combine.
