  1. An irrelevant statistic given that 97.43% of the thread is unintelligible.
  2. I’m well aware of the site’s policies Mr. Redleg. It’s why we heavily scrutinize that Tom Scully thread you started a while ago where about 2 pages of content have had to be deleted due to unacceptable posting.
  3. The latest from Knighmare - phantom draft who I usually have a lot of time for but I don’t believe he’s thought this out very well - AFL Phantom Draft: Rounds 1, 2 His picks for Melbourne are:- 23. Melbourne Ned McHenry (VIC) Height, Weight: 176cm, 71kg Profile: McHenry is this year's premier forward pressure specialist, leading the Under-18 Championships in tackles and pressure acts as a small forward. An elite endurance athlete, McHenry can also push up the wings. 28. Melbourne Sydney Stack (WA) Height, Weight: 177cm, 72kg Profile: One of this draft's most exciting and impactful players. A prolific ball-winner and tackler who hits the ball at speed and accelerates away. As well as those profiles read, I can’t see us taking two smalls with these picks given that we have Charlie Spargo, Jeff Garlett and Jay Kennedy Harris and will at least be considering taking Toby Bedford further down the line in the draft as a NGA player. Here is his assessment of Bedford ~ Melbourne *bid on Bedford likely to come 30-50 Toby Bedford (VIC - Melbourne Next Generation Academy) Height, Weight: 176cm, 65kg Profile: Line breaker who often runs the ball 30m at speed before disposing of the ball. Prolific tackler with his application of forward pressure among the best in the draft. Knightmare would therefore have us picking three players between 172 & 176cm. with our first three draft selections. I don’t think so.
  4. I’m also surprised that he fell out of favour at Richmond after his finals campaign in 2017. Anyone with a closer knowledge of the Tigers have any views?
  5. One of the Academy members from SA is Trent Burgoyne, son of former Port Adelaide premiership player Peter Burgoyne and nephew of Hawthorn’s Shaun Burgoyne. If Shaun can hang on for a couple more years, young Trent might end up playing against his uncle.
  6. There have been major changes made to the AFL's Academy programme allowing more prospects to be involved in high-level coaching, and setti up 'hubs' in five talent regions – Vic Country, Vic Metro, South Australia, Western Australia and Allies. No.1 contender Rowell heads 2019 Academy intake TAC CUP PLAYERS IN AFL ACADEMY
  7. Nice compliment but Redleg is a poor guesser. No pseudonym but If I were to take one from the literary world it might be James Joyce or Leo Tolstoy, not Hemingway - no offence Ernie.
  8. He's had 4 knee reco's and had groin issues this year. You have to admire his persistence and in earlier days, he went well as a dangerous forward in a good team but those days are over and to fit into the Goodwin style you need to be strong, hard working and have physical presence. So, it's a no from me.
  9. The big question is where is Mr. Leg at what should be his moment of triumph? My information is that he has, as Ernest implied, hit the wall and fled the jurisdiction; that he is on a vessel travelling the high seas with a rod in his hand in true Hemingway fashion. I can picture Ernie's next novel on the bookshelves at my local bookstore - "The Old Man and The Sea - Part 2".
  10. Settle down folks - it was a simple suggestion. And by the way, as a moderator, the page count visible to me also includes deleted posts which means that the thread has officially reached 1,000 pages. Congratulations go to Mr. Leg who tells me that he initiated this thread as a humanitarian gesture to save the western suburbs of Sydney from Chico Rolls, dim sims, potato cakes, French Fries and flavoured malted milk shakes (other than banana flavour).
  11. Williams has been mentioned in despatches. I think he might be taken before pick # 23 though.
  12. I have just read this piece and it truly resonates with me on several levels. Although, the wisdom of Steven May’s recruitment will ultimately be determined by what he achieves on and off the field for the club in the future, his story puts paid to any debate about who wins in trading. If it’s all about what a club gains and adds to its community then we have added a wonderful asset to the Melbourne Football Club for the next five years.
  13. Hanscombe on the outer?
  14. The above table is a clearer version of Fifty-5’s update for 2019 draft selections. It shows that Collingwood and Essendon have sacrificed next year’s first round picks in much the same way as Melbourne did last year to get Jake Lever. If those teams perform well in 2019 then losing those picks won’t be a complete disaster. I think the Hawks have used their future picks well to secure their current needs. GWS are well set up for next year despite their salary dumping this year. FWIW, Melbourne might have a first round pick this year.

  16. True but the problem is that unless he gets delisted, it’s unlikely that can find a way out of Port Adelaide. His name doesn’t feature in the recent AFL article about out of contract players and hence, it looks like he will remain at Alberton.
  17. Good point and I am sympathetic with bananas and everything they stand for. Not only that but one of my favourite movies is Bananas with Woody Allan. However, since we have a dedicated cheese thread over on the other board, there’s no reason why you couldn’t have a designated bananas thread and I’ve never been completely comfortable with the linkage of bananas, the unmentionable and BS. No trolling and only raised it as a subject for debate given that throughout the lifetime of this thread GWS and the unmentionable (who I’ve now mentioned twice in this post) have been inextricably linked and now that the nexus has been broken you might want to take advantage of the situation. And, as Hemmingway has, as always, eloquently put it, the place has hit the wall and a rest is much needed.
  18. This is the area where there is some uncertainty. I understand that T Smith and Keilty have been given another year on the rookie list so the only question mark is whether Maynard gets the upgrade. Unless the rules have changed, we could go with a primary list of 38 and take more rookies (Category A) to give us total numbers of 44 plus the Category B rookies.
  19. Has he been delisted?
  20. Just wondering now that the Greater Western Sydney Giants have purged themselves of their unmentionable by name person (and no doubt, his portly parent), is there any reason why this thread should continue?
  21. Proof that Hogan is now officially a Docker
  22. The heading to this thread is 100% accurate. Under our law, a person charged with an offence is always innocent until proven guilty.
  23. Only part - during the finals but I took the post trade numbers from the afl site. As has been mentioned, there will be more changes to come and also, the clubs will have different numbers of vacancies so many of the later picks will change.
