  3. I wonder what the AFL has to say about this? It does have a Respect and Responsibility Policy in place and whilst the emphasis is on physical violence and mental abuse of women, it also sanctions activity that degrades women and this is a prime example of exactly that. Forget the woman in the video who willingly took part in Watts’ little escapade. Think of women in general; think of the image Watts is representing and think of the example this sets for young kids who look upon AFL players as heroes. As far as Port Adelaide is concerned, they are heading for a fall - neither they nor their player appear to be particularly remorseful. That’s a sure sign that there are cultural problems at that club.
  4. There seems to be a difference of opinion among those reporting on Joel Smith’s disposal ranging from no good to improving to very good. Something for track watchers to report on after future sessions.

  10. The four AFLX 2019 captains will build their superhero teams via a nationally broadcast Draft on Wednesday February 6. The Draft will be on 7Mate, Fox Footy, AFL.com.au & AFL Live App from 7pm AEDT. Fair dinkum unbelievable. I call this the “reverse draft” because I’ll be watching it hoping that we don’t have any players picked.

  12. The club might not have major issues but I think we should nevertheless be concerned. This follows a report from a Demonlander that he was complaining about knee soreness at a training session last week. I've heard the "no worries" story enough times to be a trifle sceptical.
  13. Could we see Max Gawn and Braydon Preuss pitted against each other early in the piece?
  14. Anybody there at the Paddock?

  17. The next MFC training session is at Gosch’s Paddock on Monday morning. In the past, some of the sessions at this time of year when the Australian Open is being played, have taken place at Casey Fields but this is the only upcoming training session on the club website. Anyone know if there’s a session coming up at Casey at any time soon? Upcoming Men's Training Session Date: Monday, 21 January Session start time: 11.00am Location: Gosch's Paddock, Olympic Bvd, Melbourne
  18. I wasn’t at training today but he was in the rehab group on Saturday and worked well in all of the drills he undertook. I’m no expert but, by the way he was moving, I don’t think he’s too far from joining the main group.
  19. Never mind the mid 30s temperatures. The heat will be well and truly on this morning at the Paddock. Upcoming Men's Training Sesssions Date: Monday, 14 January Session start time: 9.30am Location: Gosch's Paddock, Olympic Bvd, Melbourne
  20. If you haven’t had enough of a footy fix for this time of the year, here’s Austin Wonaemirri playing today in his 150th game in the NTFL.
  21. One other player who I didn’t pick up (and it could be because of his size) was Charlie Spargo - did you notice him?
  22. Demons hit the track with gun mid nearing full fitness
  23. Weren't the finals Hawthorn-free in 2017?
  24. My first MFC training session since early 2018 and it was such a pleasure being out there in the sunshine and fresh air with only Demon supporters in the vicinity. Some early impressions - • Steven May is a monster! I’m ever the optimist and a blue sky junkie but this bloke cuts a very imposing figure out on the ground. His switch to Melbourne is going to be a fantastic career move for him. • Braydon Preuss is an even bigger monster. I think he is going to prove a headache for opposition defenders if he lines up near goal. North will regret letting him go. • Jack Viney - sure he was in the rehab group but even in that situation, he has that steely determination and toughness to be a menace to us mere mortals on the other side of the boundary fence. And marriage has made him even harder if you know what I mean. • Christian Petracca - this man could be the key. I'm looking for him to really break out this year.
