  1. No, as long as the teams from round 0 play other round 0 participants in round 1 and thus no team in round 1 has a one-game headstart I'm fine with it. But will the AFL have enough sense to change it to this from now on?
  2. Gridiron has been perfectly designed for advertisers: 2 mins coverage, 3 mins of ads OVER AND OVER AND OVER. 🙄
  3. Also a suburb next to Prahran in Melbourne and a town? in NSW. :) It would be possible for Windsor to live in Windsor.
  4. Just saw that there is a greyhound called Van Rooyen running at Healesville. Unfortunately that's not a glamorous venue and he came last. But he probably wouldn't have had this honour in his first year. 😄
  5. He didn't do much in the reserves last year. Maybe wait. :)
  6. I guess MFC is testing the water. If people are prepared to pay more then MFC will make more profit. I'm not sure many people are 'shopping around' and discussing the price with other clubs' supporters.
  7. Will Xavier Lindsay do? 😆
  8. Could that be policed? Maybe it really would be impossible but could 2 Victorian teams drive an hour away and play at a country ground in makeshift jumpers with staff doing their best to umpire? Every player and staff member would probably fully agree to this, especially if few or no other teams apart from them got this headstart. I doubt any team would agree with no practice matches. Sure, intraclub games probably lead to less injuries. But just the same as you don't rest your best players for long parts of real matches - i.e. add some risk - the risks of practice matches are worth the fine-tuning benefits.
  9. One can only extrapolate so much from that. But that's fantastic given our squad won the grand final less than 3 and a half years ago! (Honestly the fact that we are recent premiers has helped raise my hopes of success always (apart from the 2nd half of last year))
  10. The real thing is the real thing is the real thing As said elsewhere practising cannot capture the intensity or ever completely get rid of the 'it's only practice' vibe. I don't care how good someone looks in training sessions or stage rehearsals if their skills drop or disappear the moment the real thing starts.
  11. I know there's more names like that. But for the life of me I can't remember exact names. And it wasso amusing in primary school that there was a Gary Sidebottom ...his wasn't even made of steel! 😁
  12. Yep! While nearly other sport's desperately trying to avoid knocks to the head in this one the best 'strategy' is to punch the opponent so damn hard in the head they get a concussion.
  13. No "Leon Chelly"? Maybe it's just the Italian names but I always think of one and am reminded of the other. I'm pretty sure one commentator got confused once and thought Andrew Leoncelli's surname was just Chelly. (And of course there have been other names like that such as "Mark-who", the 80s Carlton player) I'm pretty sure Leoncelli was on TV in recent years too as a now real estate agent discussing the market( or something) on maybe A Current Affair
  14. It was a joke. I fully support efforts to limit UV exposure. My dad had plenty of benign (or slightly worrying) moles removed and just about scarring on his arms from it. These days I'll even put sunscreen on in October or so, when the meteorologists give UV warnings or plan not to be stuck in the sun in the middle of the day. I don't anyone to die early.
  15. He'd probably even get sunburnt opening the fridge door.
  16. Huh? In an Austrian-Yank accent Trac will say "it's not a ru-mour!"
  17. Surely it's coincidence but Frawley, Shane Tuck and now Sellwood are casualties with close relatives who also played at the highest level. On top of that Brayshaw, Shaun Smith and Paddy McCartin all had to retire and all have family that played too. Of course there are other players such as Venables and Daniel Bell also badly impacted by head knocks. But it seems like so far there's some weird correlation between concussions and playing families - people I would say love AFL so much. Anyway RIP Sellwood. AFL shouldn't ruin lives. 😢
  18. Can't he catch up? Either do something at home, say if he has an exercise bike, or more realistically do a bit extra at the next few sessions? If you get a chance maybe ask one of the coaches/staff today.
  19. There'll always be players from remote communities that get so homesick that they can't stay (or can't stay in an interstate team). It's the rest that the AFL can do more for.
  20. You're slightly right. But didn't Brisbane lose their first 3 games last year? And isn't the Freo game a practice match?
  21. Just remember that for better or worse it's not what any person says or any price offered all that matters ultimately is results. I'd rather King tip us last and we come first than the other way round.
  22. Okay. I just know it'd be sad if all or most young indigenous players decided there were too many hassles to bother following through and playing in the AFL.
  23. Movements? Well let's just say they're all 'regular' guys.
