  1. We deteriorated more than the Dogs? Tenth, thirteenth and then two elimination finals losses after finishing 7th a week earlier? Sure the year after they make the GF (and we won't). But we're arguing whether two teams did the equivalent of coming 19th ot 20th in the Melbourne Cup.
  2. The weight thing has always been such a silly non-issue. Only doctors and people trying to get thinner/stronger care about exact weights. Could you imagine someone taking a set of scales to a nightclub and only hitting on someone after they've weighed them?!!!!! Even when size matters to someone their eyes are a better judge for 'discerning' size. Player weights were such a silly stat. They fluctuate daily and whether they were because of extra fluid, fatty tissue, muscle or a full belly is relevant. But, no, the AFL would get some momentary, transient measure for players during preseason that somehow the general public would use months later when theyre doing their footy tips in August. (!) The thing is people have always used their eyes to judge size. Whether kids want to say Amber has girl germs because she looks fat or you can see that a lanky 6'6 rookie ruckman will struggle against his opponent who is built like a brick s****ouse we dont need a scale. None of this has changed. Despite whether weights are published or not people can still fat-shame and football staff and fans can still see if players are/were fat or muscular - all regardless. We may as well include, and then not include, players' favourite colour in their stats.
  3. How did Clayton Oliver go? I haven't heard him mentioned on Demonland in months. 🙄
  4. Hmm, as long as we can run a thousand miles we'll be playing well.
  5. We all know that era was an unmitigated disaster. Even a premiership-winning coach in his first two years could only get our rabble from absolute laughing stock to mediocre battlers. But are we still in that era?
  6. What are you basing this on? Most of our coaches, for decades, have propelled us forward. We had that horrible period where the whole club sucked in the noughties .... and we didn't find good replacements for our veterans (nor recruit or develop talent well) .....and Bailey and Neeld saw our team go backward. But arguably post-Barrassi these were the only ones who 'saw' us go backwards. In the meantime within two years Northey, Balme and Goody had us go from also-rans to preliminary finalists .... while Daniher saw us go from last to prelims in under a year! Argue what you like about round one (especially as I think we beat the reigning premiers to start 97 yet ended up with the spoon.) But, if anything , often a new coach has seen Melbourne becone surprise packets.
  7. I think youre confusing "it can happen" with "it will happen".
  8. Indeed! They can beat us every year if each is a virtual remake of 2021
  9. Yep! We want more F____s given!
  10. Hmmph! Triple M play Croatian prog rock all day! 😂
  11. Cricket virtually finished today. The Australian men I don't think play again till T20s in a month's time. (WTF happened to maybe 10 Aussie ODIs over summer???) Yep, bring on the footy ....but i know it's still 2 months away.
  12. Unless someone's in the inner sanctum of all 18 clubs it's almost like poker hands round a table. Someone starting with 3 jacks can feel really confident while someone with a pair of 3s knows they might win and someone with a nothing hand knows they'll probably lose - but at that time no one knows more than a small part of the whole picture . As players get some new cards and then reveal their hands the original predictions can turn out to be way off. Right now we probably do deserve to be 3.50 or 4.00 but come October and we might be marvelling at , say, Langford coming third in the Brownlow and Latrelle being the recruit of the year and JVR kicking 45 goals -everyone would in hindsight say 3.50 was a gift! I already said before this thread was resurrected what i really want to see is improvements and good foundations built. But i certainly can imagine us being a surprise packet. Over and over 3 or 4 teams go back into the 8 each season. It's so regular I'd almost bet my life savings that in 2026 that 3 or more teams return to the final 8 (let alone 10). The 3.50 will be irrelevant by May (whether shortening or lengthening.)
  13. Calm down; tomorrow's leg day.
  14. Oh, wow! In the last 24 hours on Demonland I've learnt about the s*xual stamina of men across their lifetime and about pigs and liquorice! But should I grow a beard? Don't we have one of Maxy's sponsors on here? Maybe they can get him to answer me. 😁
  15. Ghosty, What are you confessing about your sex life?! 😛🤣🤣🤣
  16. Why is Miss Piggy wrecking liquorice sticks? 😂
  17. So it looks like an ..... unmentionable? And are you or are you not 'cousinable'? Anyway I have no idea of the right answer. I reckon nearly any list of 23 or 4 items , whether foods, chemical elements, musicals or anything else would stump nearly everyone nearly every time.
  18. I don't want to go over old ground here. But I was never upset that Nibbler and Luke Jackson left. Plenty of times players left for good reasons. Even then I can understand players at times getting better salaries elsewhere. I mean this is their time to make good money - they're probably not going to make it later on in life
  19. And he was so connected to his homeland he couldn't bring himself to come back to Melbourne FC?
  20. But my cousin, Marylouise is gorgeous! We tried to be abstemious but now we have a little boy, Aurelio, and girl, Sequoia. (And I'm not being facetious.) 🤣🤣🤣
  21. What happened to Austin? Flash retired (i assume after a few years where injuries robbed him of his pace). Jurrah had horrible troubles back home. But why did Austin leave prematurely?
  22. Got it! They've all got an A or E in their name! Can you make my prize out in cash?
