Casey sessions aren’t advertised because they’re not open sessions. The only time they’re open (and therefore advertised) is when it’s a special occasion such as a family day or a preseason scratch match.

This is why the match is at Whitten Oval. Ch 7 no longer does Saturday AFL but can broadcast VFL on Saturdays, hence 7MATE televising tonight’s game. But not all grounds are equipped for broadcasting matches, especially at night. Whitten Oval is one that is suitable.

My son had a schoolmate named Brereton, as in, that was his first name. Brereton had a twin sister named Leigh. When I first met their dad I told him I was curious as to why he named Brereton ‘Brereton’ but named Leigh ‘Leigh’ and not ‘Matthews’ He said, “Because that would be stupid.” I said. “Yeah, THAT would be stupid.” He then said something about barracking for Melbourne being the most stupid. This was in 2013 so to be fair dude had a point. 😅

Fun fact: Rory Laird’s mum is a diehard Dees fan and she sat in the cheer squad with us at the ‘G for a game last year (not vs Adelaide, of course) when she and Rory’s dad were in Melb for the weekend. His dad is a mad Adelaide fan but was made to wear a Dees scarf so as he could sit next to wifey 🤭 Another Adelaide player’s mum will be sitting with us at Adelaide oval next week vs Port… good old Shazza Neal-Bullen 🥰
