Forward line questions
I kind of agree with Lloyd about JVR's limitation, he very rarely kicks goals in play, mostly just set shots. But I also think it doesn't really matter. Our forwardline is no worse than Collingwood or Sydney's, and only slightly worse than Brisbanes. We don't need to have an elite forwardline and we're not going to build much more than we've got in the next couple of years. The issue has always been ball movement and delivery inside 50. Fritsch would win the coleman if he had the time and space that he'd get at those teams.

Forward line questions
I was totally on board the forward experiment after his late showings in 2023. By mid last year I just wanted him to be moved back again. So much more reliable as a defender and I think playing forward was horrible for his confidence.

Forward line questions
Petty was good that day but there was no way known he was the best player on the ground.

Every team is untouchable with that sort of accuracy.

Forward line questions
Much better/deeper entries, got it in quicker so we could hit players one on one or ping it around by hand to get decent shots on goal. Basically just more time and space.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
He's just the type of person who wants to be everyone's mate.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Fremantle
We got worked out a bit after 2021, teams started tagging Langdon and Gus returned to the middle. We basically had to always take the opposite wing which was given to Jordon who, while a fine role player, never really had any weapons. This is when the trend of just bombing it long to Max started to come in and our ball movement slowed to a trickle. Our wings looked a lot better last year with Windsor taking the opposite side but everything else fell apart so it didn't really matter. Now we've moved both Langdon and Windsor to completely different roles. I don't really get the thinking.

"May have gone rogue." Hmm, makes you wonder how the footy department are feeling about Green's big statement?

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Fremantle
This has been fairly consistent under Goodwin. We play a high forward press to generate repeat inside 50s which means when the opposition break our lines we have very little going for us defensively. That style of play has gone out of vogue in recent years. The game now favours transition play which we don't seem to have much interest in doing. We very rarely score from the defensive half of the ground these days because most teams defend deep and kill our ball movement. It's also why a lot of our games become such slogs to watch. We lock the ball in our forward half for little reward only to see the opposition break through once and kick a fast goal.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
Don't really get the logic there. The immediate thought from basically everyone was Kozzy for Jackson. If anything the spotlight is intensified. It's possible we leaked that we're courting him but that's totally different to just making the entire thing up. Like the Trac and Oliver stories last year were clearly not made up. You're also assuming that it's clubs leaking all this stuff and not the players representation or the players themselves.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
This would be profoundly immature and achieve what exactly?

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Fremantle
It was nice to see the midfield back in order but jeez the forward line still looks like a dogs breakfast. I must say I don't understand the Windsor and Langdon moves at all. We don't launch our ball movement off the HBF and that's actually often been the role of the wings, so we move our two best wingers into roles they're totally unsuited for? Langdon is a workhorse who kills you with gut running, I don't see what he offers at CBAs. Windsor has awesome burst out of contest and would be better suited to that role of we're going to move him. We've taken away both their best assets for what exactly?

Personally think as a general rule it's improper for a president, CEO, or anyone on the board to talk about a players trade value with any level of specificity. In general, I think they should be keeping an arms length from footy dept matters, especially publicly. Green could have easily said something of the same effect without bringing up picks and creating a headline. Don't think it helps us going into the season. Kozzy is going to be a talking point throughout the year so we should be doing anything we can do to limit that distraction, not adding fuel to the fire.

Club Emblem
Won't happen but I'd love it if we just readopted that logo. It's the best logo we've ever had and we got rid of it because we didn't want to spook some Chinese sponsors. It still looks really modern. It has a a really striking and unique brand compared to our current logo which is fine but fairly boring. Also think a firey demon head is much more attractive to kids than a shield and a monogram.

He hasn't put anything to bed. He's raised a starting bid. The statement show's we're considering the trade internally. It's absolute fodder for the media.

Don't love that statement. Not Green's job to weigh in on trades just as it wasn't Pert's job to float Oliver for trade last year. Stay in your lane.
