  1. Is that likely to be resolved by Thursday night?
  2. As I said in my earlier post we still need to improve a lot in that area. 7 marks inside 50 on the weekend is very poor. We were better, yes, but you can't expect to consistently kick a decent score without generating set shots.
  3. Fair enough but it's the other stats I'm worried about. Geelong kick a goal almost a third of the time they enter their forward 50. GWS almost a quarter of the time. We are at 18.8%.
  4. Not sure what you're trying to say here but we're 13th for inside 50s 14th for shots at goal, dead last for Goal efficiency and marks inside 50...
  5. Riewoldt feels like a classic jobs for the boys appointment.
  6. I thought it was more to do with the language spoken by the parents more than what country they're from. Arbitrary but there you go.
  7. Going deep to one on one contests is a fine way to score, you back your players in to win those but you still can't be too one-dimensional. Still gotta find those easy marks to players in space which are created by good running patterns from the forwards. I'm still not seeing that from us. Geelong are probably the best in the comp to do it. Our pressure in the forwardline was incredible though. 27 tackles in 50 is like our best in ten years so unlikely to be repeated often.
  8. Forward entries still a big concern for me. We went top of the goal square almost every time but our players were better positioned to take advantage and the ball came in faster so it was harder to defend. But we only had 7 marks inside 50 which is not good at all and barely even tried to hit up easy targets in the forwardline.
  9. Great win today. Credit to Goodwin. That contract we've given him is outrageous though.
  10. Yep. Richo has seemed a pretty feckless footy manager who only seems to get mentioned when he needs to clean up a mess. See: Chaperoning Goodwin in Vegas and mowing Oliver's lawns. Tim Lamb has not been able to attract any players of note outside of Grundy who was a disastrous miscalculation. A lot of abject failures in our recruitment since the flag. Goodwin has been unable to fix our scoring issues over 4 years, in fact we've gotten far worse in this area. Plenty of analysis in the media this week showing just how poor our forward set ups and entries are, but this has been a problem that has not been addressed for years. Several players who have underperformed or are at least surplus to our needs. But the list is the last thing that will need to be addressed after the other positions are replaced. Then the club will have clear air to decide where the list is at and make their moves from there.
  11. This thread is literally about the coach.
  12. Its not one thing or another. The club needs major change in several areas. The coach is one of those areas.
  13. Goodwin has said that the players were the drivers of change during the off-season.
  14. You're describing most of our list there.
  15. Was statistically one of the best ball users by foot in the comp last year when he was playing midfield. Trained there all preseason only to be kicked out so Viney and Oliver could take all the minutes. I agree that the list needs a fair bit of change, to the point that we're getting into rebuild territory. In that case I dont think Goodwin is the right guy for the job anyway. Always had favourites and we'd need a development coach.
  16. Sparrow was never much better than those guys. Now we're trying to turn him into a tagger because we let all the guys go who could actually play that role. Its a blunder.
  17. .
  18. A lot of the guys you're campaigning against are the ones that were keeping them out of the side. We'd be a lot better off with one of them playing Sparrow's role.
  19. Would happily drop Viney, he's a fading star and I don't think there's much of a place for him in our new system unless he can add more to his game. Give Rivers and our young players more opportunity in the midfield. Its true our depth is poor. Shame we lost Bedford and Jordon, amongst others. Funny how those guys are flourishing at new clubs under different systems.
  20. Are you always this patronising? Good lord. This is like watching someone have an argument with themselves in the shower.
  21. Neeld also moved on a bunch of players. Roos was basically chucking out the trash he brought in.
  22. Dead last on the ladder. Yeesh.
  23. Plenty of examples of teams being able to change much more successfully than we have. Its a [censored] excuse for a team that expected to play finals this year. But, yes the Eagles also failed. Hopefully we act before we drive our list into the ground like they did.
  24. Windsor should definitely play in the middle. Need his speed and class to burst away from stoppage. Completely wasted at half back right now.
  25. Yeah I don't buy the 'change is hard' thing at all. Plenty of teams change the way they play over a single off-season.
