2024 Injury List
Anyone know much about the "transverse process fracture"...it sounds very serious but they don't seem too concerned???

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Hawthorn
Not about dropping him or keeping him, I think everyone would want a fit Ben Brown in the side every week but it will be about managing him if he can't withstand a whole season of straight games, which he probably can't. Rest him and play him as his body allows, let him heal etc. Be well :)

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Tmac and Ben Brown were great, so happy to see them playing well, made a world of difference to the whole team. That team worked and would love to see it stay similar but interested to know what happens when other forwards become available. If Ben Brown can be rested/managed properly I'd love it if he can play some great games through the year without getting hurt.

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
If he stays fit and firing then yes! Please just manage him because when he's on he makes a world of difference, such a class act.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Not sure about all those changes, and not using Fullarton, seriously though Tmac must have impressed some folks to make cut. I can understand BBB but I really hope Tmac has a good one, we need him to. Who on earth is sub out of this list though? Hope not Billings again I want him to play a full game dammit. Probably either him or WW2 surely? Maybe Tmac??

TRAINING: Monday 11th March 2024
Colt sounds very interesting...when do we think he might be ready for a run? Pretty keen to see him out there I reckon he'd add something by the sound of it. Really just want McAdam available, he was meant to help fix all this nonsense in the forward line and where is he? Anyone know anything about his current situation and when he might be back?

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
I take it back, but I wouldn't mind seeing the coach do a bit more "adapting" when things aren't going our way. We seem to just keep banging our heads against the brick wall and just hope. I would just like to see our proper forwards back from injury, ffs it'd be nice to be able to use the guys we want to use like McAdam and Petty. Bit sad we can't yet, and very frustrating.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
I just don't understand why we ever just bomb it long. We of all teams know this doesn't work, we have tried it so many times, never effective. Max getting beaten most of the night too...how come he didn't just adapt his own style? That's what I notice most of all when we lose, we don't adapt, even if something isn't working it's like someone on the sidelines is there saying "no we're not changing tactics, just give it more time, maybe it will work this time"...almost like someone with a gambling problem at a poker machine..."just one more try I reckon I'll hit the jackpot this time" Having said that I hadn't actually watched the game until yesterday, was travelling at the time, it didn't look as horrible as most have been suggesting. Sure it was rubbish, but there are some good signs in there too. Just need a proper forward line still (same old) and seriously Laurie/Chandler/Spargo they are not up to AFL level please don't play them again. I'm sure it would be a very different look too if most of our forwards weren't injured :( When do we expect McAdam ready?

Tom Hawkins
My bad didn't know there was already a thread, thanks someone for fixing that.

Tom Hawkins
Would we want him? Is this preposterous? I feel like something would be wrong in the world if you saw him in anything other than a Geelong jumper…but what if???

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I hate Brodie Grundy :( (not really...but like the kid in Love Actually hates uncle Charlie)
-
Farewell Brodie Grundy
Stay Brodie, the club is going to be better for it and I reckon you'll be much more valuable to the whole team than you realize.
-
Farewell Brodie Grundy
Would love to see him give it one more season, I think we'd be able to make something work. This year has been a bit strange, not a fair test for Grundy/Gawn in my opinion. Give it one more year fellas!

Melksham set to play on in 2024
Loved this news, love the Milkshake, so important for us next year and he's just a banger of a bloke and player...cheers Jake can't wait to have you back!!

Dunstan calls it a day
Sad way to finish career, thought he would have got the call up to senior side near the end there if it weren't for injury. Thanks Luke, wished we'd seen more of you.

Campbell Brown calls the Melbourne Football Club "fragile"
These commentators are just ex players, they aren't experts, they're mostly just mugs with a microphone. I do understand why heaps of people seem to be giving it to Melbourne more than other teams though. On paper we looked like we should have been in pole position all year to win the whole thing again, but we continued to squander opportunities and butcher situations in games that a team with so many elite players like Melbourne shouldn't have been butchering. It didn't make sense, and I don't think it's just Melbourne fans that are angry at Melbourne for letting this happen. Injuries aside, our kicking was shocking and we still could have won way more games if something so fundamental was being done better. People are angry with Melbourne, lots of people, what they did this year looks wasteful and I'm sure to some it even looks like their attitude in general is quite poor considering they are well and truly in the premiership window and it still looks like they just aren't working hard enough at being the absolute best they can be while in this window. I'm sure most footballers would kill to be in a team like Melbourne right now, and if they see them appearing to not work hard enough and squander an opportunity like this I'm sure that would make them pretty mad because they know how hard they'd work if they were in that situation. Think 2021 Melbourne...they were hungry, there was a drought to break...something has happened since then that isn't good and we all know it. We need to get it back because it's still there somewhere. One game of bad kicking and poor decisions and discipline is one thing...but it wasn't just one game was it. Most of the pundits are just mugs and are basically just a couple of blokes talking in a pub, apart from Gary Lyon maybe, and not just because he's ex Melbourne but he is very measured and you can tell he's a clever considered professional. Melbourne deserve way more heat than any other team right now, because they should be way better than most too but have managed to squander it. We know it, the mugs with the mics know it, and the Melbourne players know it too. It's just kind of sad because we all know they should have won both those finals and so many more games this year. I firmly believe 2024 will be a better year, but it seems like there's something at the club we're all missing, maybe even a work ethic or culture issue that crept in after the premiership win, who knows, but something isn't quite adding up as to why we aren't consistently kicking more a$$.

How do players lose the skill of kicking straight?
Surely this is number one, two and three on the agenda for training...it's really the only reason we didn't win so many games...fix this and we're golden!
-
Are we all on the Giants bandwagon?
Totally agree, baffling we let him go. GO GIANTS!!! Hell yes on their bandwagon, few ex dees players I'd love it if we still had plus they're playing great entertaining clean fast footy, the type I wish Melbourne were playing more of this year...plus they can kick straight!

Cool light of day
Completely agree, I've winged a bit but really we've done pretty well considering how much adversity we've had to overcome this year. We did squander the chances with poor kicking though, that aside we were in a position to win both finals games. Practice kicking over the break, and the young players with more experience will be better for it after 2023 and I firmly believe 2024 will look much better than 2022 and 2023. We are in a good position for next year.
