  1. To speed up the game just play a point for anything that goes through the outside posts and a goal for anything through the middle posts. It eliminates many score reviews. Play on for anything that bounces back inboard or play a free kick in for anything that goes out off the behind posts. It works so much better in Gaelic Football and soccer. That rule is asinine and the goal line cameras are the pox
  2. Why? That kid looks good. He gets to the right spots, marks it and slots them. Lots of examples of playing it to teammates advantage and setting them up for scores too
  3. In this instance the candidate actually seems worthy of a seat on the board
  4. I know we're worried about injuries but as someone who loves football and Victoria, I'm delighted that state of origin is back. I loved watching the international rules growing up in Dublin. The Aussies looked like gods and the punch ups were mighty. However, for all the Aussie strength, fitness and professionalism, often they just couldn't kick straight! It was great to see a version of the wonderful AMATEUR sport of Gaelic Football played internationally and celebrate the links between the countries. I admit it was a bit harsh seeing our best players getting poached out here but a good opportunity for them and to be fair it's definitely one of the greatest possible places to make your new home. So as a new proud Victorian I'll be watching these games with my family. I'll be teaching my children that when it comes to the other states there's nothing more satisfying than squashing cockroaches!
  5. Ciao Bella!
  6. I am thoroughly impressed with everything Kingy has done so far. Next year will look very different across the ground and hopefully we'll play better football and get back to where we belong playing finals in the next few years. He has made brave moves in moving on many of Goody's protected favourites and facing down the selfish and unprofessional "me first" nonsense that crept in post 2021. With these trades and sensible delistings he's clearly looking to address our kicking woes and lack of forward connection that many of us have despaired about for ages. Forwards - I am pleased to see Spargo gone from the forward line and whilst not playing the same role, I rate Chekers much higher. He should be a good role model for JVR, Kenter and Jeffo if he works out. It will take pressure off Roo and Fritter and put an end to the nonsense of playing Petty out of position. Midfield - Moving on Claz and Trac is painful because they could have been truly great but for circumstances, handling and personal behaviours. Coaching was also lacking as we tolerated shocking kicking by them for far too long. Hopefully Steele can fill the role and a new more accurate game style that finally connects the hard working mids with forwards. Steele reputed professionalism and commitment seems like an antidote to the disappointing attitudes of Clarry and Trac and that's reassuring. Rucks - The Grundy move was a misstep, but bringing in Heath for Max is good timing and wise future planning. Defence - It was a pity we lost McVee as he might have felt differently about the need to move west after a season under Kingy with a better team atmosphere. His style and skills would fit right in with how I expect kingy to set us up and Jiath is fast, but he's not going to replace Judd's silky skills and confident decision making. I would have been happy with Maysie going because his off-field stuff is embarrassing, unprofessional and an unacceptable distraction. He looks like he's suffered too many cynical knees to the spine and ribs whilst flying our flag. He has always done that well to be fair and I never minded his mongrel aggression for us especially against guys like Hawkins and who deserved a clip! Unfortunately I think the pace is really dropping off, but again we now have the option of Petty back there. I'm not sure if Steven plays regularly next season, but I hear he's a good mentor and has a good mind for the game so hopefully this gives him motivation to get back to near his physical best and finish out his career with pride. Coaching - The consensus across Demonland seems to suggest he's bringing in good assistants too, not just old mates without proven track records or has-beens dialling it in. He has started with a thorough and much needed clear-out and on the basis of all this move I am really pleased with everything we've done before a ball has even been bounced (or thrown up)! Is anyone else feeling relieved and a bit positive or even blindly optimistic about the next couple of seasons?
  7. It's sad, but this is the right move for the team and the club
  8. Carryyyyyyst
  9. Carryyyyyyst!
  10. It's a small town and word gets around. In the fullness of time Demon fans who can't comprehend this trade will hear reasons that may shock them. When that happens this trade will finally make sense.
  11. This is the article: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/racing/john-kanga-quits-as-melbourne-racing-club-chairman-20251010-p5n1ku.html
  12. Thanks Dannyz, that's reassuring. No doubt our favourite journos will find a way to taint the MFC by association with all the goings on at the MRC. Nice to know that the state/taxpayer sponsored horse racing is still an honest industry full of trustworthy characters.
  13. Can anyone shed some light on what the MRC controversy means for the MFC? Did Kanga initially oppose our Caufield base before acquiescing? If so where does this leave our proposal? Who will take over his position and where do the likely candidates stand on our proposed project?
  14. Is Trax really a goal kicker though? His set shots are dodgy, high ball drop and over-kicks them. Lots of his shots on the run are just hopeful blasts like his field-kicking. For all his reputed professionalism he should have improved his kicking. Alas I prefer him passing them off to more reliable team mates.
  15. It's all downhill from here
  16. I loved his dedication and what he could do at his best. He was always decent when meeting my kids and the likes, but I'm sorry to say that him moving on is a good thing. As per the agreement we all signed and respect for Demonland I will not say anything specific. Suffice to say that remaining team-mates are better off not having him around in an off-field capacity. Much like his recent comments his other shenanigans are mostly to do with immature stupid tendencies rather than malice, but none of it is helpful to the team or the club. I hope he gets things together personally and goes only alright at GWS so they hover around the 8. I'll be annoyed if he turns it around like Hogan, but I reckon he's his own worst enemy so that's unlikely without good support and guidance. Farewell Claz and take it easy.
  17. Bb - D2 by King = Checkmate!
  18. I know the population is about half that of Tassie, but to balance out the competition at 20 teams it would be great to have an NT or Top Half team. They'd need big funding to keep them viable, but it could have exclusive academy access and a larger number of picks each year. It would be great to encourage more indigenous talent into the league and it might be easier for some young players to be part of the league if they can be closer to their communities. I'm sure the AFL will support this proposal and their only precondition on the team entering the league will be a modest $2bn 25,000 seater fully underground stadium. The stipulation is that it must be carved out of the ground in the same construction manner as coober pedy. If the underground stadium becomes unachievable they can make a compromise and have an above ground level but fully sheltered stadium hollowed out from the inside of Uluru. Even if more than 70% of the local population support the team but not the outlandish stadium proposal that doesn't mean there's any reason to listen to the will of the people who are actually paying for it.
  19. R&BB I like the idea of a Tassie team as a romantic symbol of pride for the island and as an economic stimulus. It would be far better than the tokenistic partnerships they have with Hawks and North that seem slightly exploitative. Tassie is routinely an afterthought for the nation but it has great potential and would benefit from investment. There's so much space and resources there and it will become more valuable as a location with climate change impacting further North. The island needs positive examples for their young people and ways to encourage them to stay there. Hopefully a team will grow the game and give employment avenues for their youth. There will also be support from the diaspora of Tasmanians living in other states who might return to visit more regularly and spend money there too. I think it's better to have more national teams and opportunities for young players rather than losing them to league, soccer or basketball. The problem is not the number of teams, but it's the AFL allowing too great an influence to powerful wealthy clubs like Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong, Sydney, Brisbane etc with favourable fixtures, stadia and structural advantages; and ability to poach contracted talent and pay off the books. If this continues the league will be really uncompetitive and boring. I'm happy for Tasmania to come in and get advantages but with the AFL I'm charge I'm worried that it's the lower performing 5 or 6 teams that will suffer playing there regularly in windy stadiums; losing funding, talent and picks to support them while the big clubs continue to roll on hoovering up cash, sponsorship, state funding and greedy contracted players. So I support the team, but I worry about it's impact on lower clubs mostly and I believe the demand for a roof is causing the stadium to be prohibitively expensive. I also think playing at Marvel is horrible experience during daytime with the roof shut. As some other people mentioned here it could be an AFL ploy to set the bar for entry unattanably high so they won't be responsible for it not proceeding.
  20. I know his Dad is at Kangaroo's and he used that to leverage a great deal for himself so it has me thinking about Viney. I've loved Viney's past work and I know they're different players, but which of those two is: A: currently the better player? B: a better fit for what our club needs? Bearing in mind I try not to subject myself to too many Norf games.
  21. I'd welcome Tilthorpe for Petracca. Someone tell me I'm dreaming! 🐦‍⬛😶‍🌫️
  22. It sounds very much like the AFL brought the Tassie process forward to stymie us and ensure they get their intended coach in Buckley. They made damn sure he'll coach the Devils and not the Demons. All the nonsense in the media and from his presenter mates about a rushed process where Melbourne couldn't wait, begs the question why is it so urgent for Tasmania to lock in a coach this week? They're nowhere near starting a team. Was it prior public knowledge that Tasmania intended to interview its anointed Candidate this week or did that materialise when he showed interest in a real team that's actually his childhood favourite and the longest club in existence? Well played by Bucks. It must be very sweet to soon be getting paid for a few more years of media whilst he's also drawing a salary for coaching a future team. Or else the Devils team will start in the next couple of years after all and the outrageous stadium demand will soon be quietly dropped. After hearing him speak I'm not disappointed with King as I can believe he was the best candidate. I am not disappointed with Bucks either because he's making hay whilst the AFL think the Sun shines out of his @rse. He'll be a good coach for Tassie and I want that club to do well. However I am disappointed with the AFL and its proxies in the media.
  23. Yeah I complained to them about the repeated dropouts and freezing during the Crows Hawks game. We're paying enough that they should be able to offer us which camera view we want. I'd love a high level view down the ground from behind goal
