  1. Viney pretty quiet that quarter. Had 12 disposals in first term and only picked up 2 more to half time.

Third quarter is massive. Hope come out with the same intensity and keep rolling on. Dont want a post NT game 2nd half fade out.

Jnrmac, I agree with everything you have stated but I don't agree that the MRP is biased

Biased I suppose suggests a personal element by the members of the MRP.

How about guided then? Or directed? Or manipulated?

The same decisions for and against certain teams/players happens far too often for it to be put down to inconsistency.

If Frost consistently played within his obvious limitations, he would be good.

He doesn't, so his contribution is questionable in my eyes.

A catostrophic error resulting in an opposition goal is nearly always around the corner.

And in a final, moments like that are amplified x 1 million.

I think though, if we have enough guys around the ball putting the pressure on there is a good chance we'll get the turnover right back.

We did that particularly well vs the Bulldogs where we had our share of turnovers but were almost immediately all over the Bulldogs players receiving the ball and most of the time got it back pretty quickly.

Last week that manic pressure was missing, making the errors from the likes of Frost much more costly.

They've said bringing that manic pressure back has been a focus this week, plus we've obviously had a few guns come back, so maybe the errors won't turn out to be so catostrophic if and when they occur?

to be honest I'm glad to see Smith and Wagner out. provides a better balance to the side, and makes it more likely that they can fit T-Mac in the back half if required. Good to see ANB, Harmes and Hannan retained despite all the midfielders coming back too - they all have a bit of zip and grunt and I would prefer us to go in too heavy in that department than not!

I'm dreaming of a 25+ 2 goal game from Tenners. He was an absolute Jet before his injury troubles.

We'd all love that, but that'd be an almost career best performance if he managed it...

Round 13 last year I think.

    Yep.

Played rounds 1 & 2 in 2014, then missed rest of season.

    Missed entire 2015

Played rounds 11, 12 & 13 last year, with final match being that horrible wet game vs Sydney in Sydney, the week after QB

Looks like I will putting a few coins in the metaphorical swear jar .

    Yep...  me too  :-/

I cant remember leaving a Matthew Nicholls game happy that it has been officiated well.  Even for neutral games not involving our lot.

The most consistently inconsistent umpire going around.

Just back from training.  Viney did extensive testing with Crossy and then joined the main group and looked fine.  I'd be amazed if he didn't play.  Watts, Tyson and Salem with the main group from the start.

Word was that Garlett won't play.  He wasn't at training today.  It's speculation only.

We were asked to leave today (which I did).  First time that has happened.  Nothing out of the ordinary happened whilst I was there, usual drills - agility, ball handling and movement inside 50.

That's interesting. Was there a reason given?

Just seems a bit odd to enforce a "closed session" of sorts while training an open field in the middle of an open area.

The MFC website has put up a lovely video acknowledging the indigenous players who have represented the club. It starts with footage of Jeff Farmer, rolls through Jurrah, Davey, Wonaemerri, Jetta and Garlett. It closes with acknowledging (no footage) some of the less spectacular or well known players- Whelan, Bennell, Charles, Pickett, JKH and Newman (female). All in a minute and a bit. Well worth a look. A focus on their football presence, refreshingly.

    Wash your mouth out!!!

  9. Another thing...

When it is clear the MRP are mindless buffoons who make decisions on the fly in line with the current media ageda, why the **** is so much commentary allowed before the MRP makes it decision, effectively throwing the player under the bus?

If commentary about a current case in the court of law is avoided so as not to influence the jury, then why are the media let loose like rabid dogs to effectively protect and condemn as they see fit?

  10. So Vince gets two seperate penalties for two offences. Suspension and a fine.

Whereas Dusty who is already sitting on one fine, get a single fine for the two offences, cause giving him separate fines = 3 for season = suspension.

I've just started reading this thread but I'll just say for starters your a [censored] !

Why?  It was a perfectly valid question.

He could have been in severe pain, or he could have been a bit upset having found out he may have another season ending injury.

    Whats the problem?

  12. Six day breaks I can cop, everyone has to have them.

It is just the scheduling of them that seems a bit ridiculous.

Why do we have three on the trot, as per a couple of weeks back?

Why do we have one immediately after a Perth game and now another straight after Darwin?

Edit - actually, Darwin is 7...  still, rage remains!!  Agh

  13. I tried out that ladder predictor thing on the AFL website.

Went as conservative as possible and gave us wins vs North, St Kilda, Brisbane & Collingwood and losses to the Crows, Port & GWS.

All other results have a bearing too, and my predictions for those are obviously subjective, but I still had us finishing 5th - 6th.

The top eight stayed more or less the same other than the Bombers coming up, and Richmond dropping out (finishing 9th - LOL!!)

And Gus is now doing full contact work and if he is up to it will return to VFL after their bye in a few weeks!

Tyson, Watts chances for the Top End

    Go Gus!

Their bye is this weekend, so I guess if that is read to be true he could be back for the game v Essendon on 22/07 ?

    This bit though...

“Gus is essentially training with the main group [and having] full contact. We’re hoping that he’s a chance for the VFL game after their bye this weekend.  It really comes down to Gus and how he’s feeling about his footy, but all things are pointing to a positive outcome"

... to me says the problem is more with Brayshaws mental state than anything. If he still has the confidence to get in there and stick his head over the ball again.. etc ?
