Perhasp that's why Sharpie has gone thru the four stages of Nibbla so quickly:
Cautious optimism player x will be decent addition to the list
Loss of confidence player x will be decent addition to the list
Grudging acceptance player x has been a decent addition to the list
Player x is critical element of the team
You forgot the incessant "I've never rated him... he's a spud... he will never amount to anything... he is a VFL player at best..." calls.
Still conspicuously silent. -

46 minutes ago, Dr Don Duffy said: Winning a game in Gather Round (โGimmeโ Round as itโs become known to Essendon), would be a nice pattern to break.
As further incentive, after their likely loss to the Dogs next round they'll equal their worst-ever streak of 17 straight defeats.
Wouldn't it be sweet if we could then hand them a new embarrassing record of their own a week later ๐ -

And while a few others have also started poorly (Sparrow and Lever come to mind) I think itโs Riversโ lack of defensive intent that has seen him dropped first
Canโt be missing tackles and not contributing to scoring chains

@Ghostwriter while we're talking banners... why don't the cheer squads lift the banner to show the crowd, drop it, rotate, lift again to show different area of crowd... etc anymore?
Do they just not make them like they used too? Or did the Filth's 2018 GF banner scare everyone into not raising any earlier than needed?
Edit - I sit on the opposite side of the ground to where the players run out, so can never see what front of banner says -
One for the "what are they saying down at Moorabbin" files...
"Looking at their side, their forward line definitely has some weapons. Mihocek, Van Rooyen, Fritsch, Melksham - there's some goal-kicking power there and with Kosi and Latrelle Pickett, there are players that could really cause us issues inside 50.Huge responsibility on the midfield to step up here. They have a young midfield, we need to stamp our authority on that part of the game. If we let them get on top they could cause us a lot of headaches with that forward line"
It's been a minute since I've seen anyone have our forward line as an area for concern ๐ฑ -

Music to the ears of those who haven't already written off Tholstrup...
"He's going to play in numerous positions Gaz. His athletic profile is off the charts. He can run around at high speed for a long time, so it's just harnessing where we do that and for a young man trying to establish himself, how much is too much and in what position, but the way I want the game played, for our players they are going to have to play multiple positions, so he's a inside, wing, half-forward, he's even got the competitiveness to play at half back but I know that someone with his athletic profile, he's going to have a crack at playing league footy, he's going to be up for it, so fits the way we want to play" -
After a long offseason, I think the media [censored] in general are just looking to set their agendas and create some content for the following days news cycle to talk about.
I tuned into Footy Classified last night and that wasn't much better, though they were more focused on nothing changing at Carlton (talking like we are half way through the season rather than one round in), potential unrest at St Kilda over their high paid players (and also not much changing despite), Daicos to Tasmania... etc
Some talk re Petracca/Oliver, but they were more in the Matthews and Lewis camp, rather than Reiwoldt -

But then maybe we still wouldn't have focused on improving his kicking.
If we still had Petracca, we wouldn't have Taylor, L.Pickett and whatever GC's 1st next year turns out to be, all of whom will be running around 10 years after Petracca has hung up the boots.

Get off the couch, go along to the ground and watch him live for a full game โ his pressure, off-ball work, repeat efforts and defensive running are why he is so highly regarded.
All the stuff that wins us the ball and creates goals but doesnโt put his name in bold on the stat sheet. If youโre only judging him by one goal and a handful of touches, youโre missing half the job description.

Last time we played them we beat them by 6 goals.
And corresponding practise game last year we beat them by 40+
All I am hoping for besides another solid hit out is no injuries.Sure AMW doesnt have fond memories of Norf in practise games ๐ซ
