WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
Do you think they'll release the spycam footage when Frost is told he's off to the Gold Coast? Hopefully we learnt a few tricks from Masterchef so as to capture the full emotional weight of his personal devastation.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
How lovely it would be to a MFC KPD before your first game. Universal admiration on fan forums and yet to be subjected to top-flight teams penetrating your diamond. One slip up in one of the most difficult defensive set-ups in the league and he'll be off to the delist thread no doubt.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
An MFC-themed playground with a never-ending merry-go-round and a ten-foot deep ball-crawl. We could even pitch in for the Demonland/Bi-polar Association co-sponsored see-saw.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
It looks like we may have to cut out a small chunk of the scoreboard and a fair section of the stadium roof. MCC not gonna like that. Not to mention all those cars we'll flatten. Maybe we can sort a compensation package through Zurich?

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
I'd thinking it would be better for the club to train in a secret bunker the way some of our supporters carry on.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
For someone who hasn't lived in Melbourne or spent much time around the MCG/Yarra precinct - what is public access to Punt Road Oval like? Is it completely fenced off? If so, where do kids go to kick a footy between some sticks around that area of the city? Also, can someone explain what four consecutive commas signify in terms of punctuation? It wasn't covered during my writing degree for some reason. Cheers.

Do you know if the goal to goal axis Dee Spencer has proposed is correct hells bells?

Darwin game dumped
If true, I have even more faith in our administration (for you know, agreeing with my thoughts precisely). I ordinarily hate regional games - Alice is an exception, and something we can build into an annual showcase with a fair number of peripheral benefits.

New CEO - Gary Pert
I have concerns like a few others on here which I think are reasonable to express: According to the grapevine and the evidence at hand: Pert developed his professional career in an environment which is not like our own. He has shown a heavy hand in the past, and a disposition to involve himself in footy dept. matters. Regardless of what due process at that level should ordinarily be, Jackson seems to have been sidelined. Our president has made some comments to this effect which are suggestive of political ego. Our board still hasn't demonstrated that they can be entirely trusted. We have some decent operators who have missed out on the role. That said, I'm happy with this appointment. For the following reasons: It seems the AFL had a say in the recruitment - which is okay by me and I think super important. The AFL would have had a say for a reason - e.g. they have plans to support our expansion. Pert seems like the right fit for such a job, and has the experience to get it done. Indeed, I see a parallel to the Roos-Goodwin transition (not in experience obviously): Jackson steadied the ship and laid the foundations, and we now have an ambitious operator to take us to the next level. My one simple hope: Pert makes us great again and stays the [censored] away from the on-field activities. And that the board has the foresight and chutzpah to enforce these divisions. Otherwise, I say congratulations MFC on another coup and let's make it happen. Go Dees!

As to the above, it's sometimes hard to separate opinion and mail on here with the uninformed but definitive statement style some posters lean towards - can you please make clear? As to the below - mods, can we also please pin somehow?

New CEO - Gary Pert
4 is certainly my/our idea but I don't have confidence in 5a because we've had to fight so hard for 1a in part due to 1b and I'm concerned that the board's desire to turn 2 into the status of 3 will compromise 5b and ultimately 3 which will in turn impact 2 and undermine 1a.

New CEO - Gary Pert
What gives you such confidence? The history of our board ensuring such? And backing in the footy department when meddling has occurred?

New CEO - Gary Pert
On Open Mike a few years back if anyone is interested. I recall that I thought him pretty impressive at the time, but on watching it again I hope that he can curtail the heavy on-field focus that he developed at Collingwood - which I also hope was out of necessity rather than it being a natural personality/ego thing. I further hope that our board have made it clear that our club is an entirely different landscape to the CFC and such an approach isn't necessarily necessary, rather than our board thinking that such an approach can magically emulate Collingwood's success. That is all. Good luck Gary, and welcome aboard.

Farewell Dean Kent
The N stands for 'no' and the H stands for '-heads' in an often cited footy club policy that is promptly forgotten about when the likes of De Goey enter the market. Incidentally, Collingwood won a flag off the back of an all-DH policy in 2010 and have underperformed ever since they reversed it and switched to a Buckley-boy model. Until this week, of course.

Farewell Dean Kent
LH - you've just effectively called Kent a DH. You don't need to share why, but do have any solid grounds to make such an assertion? Or are the drinking suspension from last year and his general mien the primary things you're referring to?

Site Issues?
I also had a pop-up launch within the last two days. I don't recall much other than clicking on a thread link and it launched a different page - assumed I'd clicked before the landing page had fully loaded and struck a banner ad - except that it didn't look much like an expected adservices ad. I remember thinking it had a vague Russianness about it as well (this isn't tongue-in-cheek) and shut it down pretty quick. It wasn't a new window pop-up but a diverted page. I also remember that the page had weird framing/borders. It is the first time it has ever happened - and it did briefly cross my mind that the site had been hacked by a disgruntled Dogs fan. Apologies - I probably should have said something at the time. I'll shout out if anything else comes to mind (the tenor of the ad will come back to me I think - if it's of any help), or let admin know if my bank account has been drained.

It would be a minor scandal if somewhere along the line it was whispered in his ear that he'd need to improve in these areas if he wanted to come to us. But not outside the realms of possibility. Pretty sure Sylvia had to demonstrate his certain predilections before being determined a cultural fit in the West. Edit: No offence to your good self of course Mr Tremblay.

I have it on no authority whatsoever that the recruiters and financial dept had this mapped when they traded out of the first round next year. I also have no source to cite when I say that the recruiters have been cultivating long-term relations in their planning for targeted players. And I certainly can't state with any credibility that this is basically a done deal, all but secured between player and club well in advance. But I do believe these things to be true, and can confidently invoke a Denuto contention.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AUSTIN BRADTKE
There's some talk of us starting to shape as a destination club. This is all good. But what's more exciting is that there's evidence that we're now perhaps considered a Rookie destination club with a strong development programme and clear pathway as demonstrated by Maynard and Smith. It's great if everyone in the AFL wants to come to us, but we will still need to pay for them and juggle the cap - so it's even better if we can keep getting first dibs on potential top-line young talent for free.

Also, on the broad subject of incestualism (Collingwood supporters), I had separate boyhood crushes on both mother and father growing up as a sporting lad in the 80s. Makes for supporting Austin now a little bit awkward - although I certainly wouldn't have chosen the name Austin for our fantasy spawn back then. Phileas Provis perhaps, or maybe Bradbury Bradkte (hint: I also liked fantasy sci-fi as a kid).

Collingwood supporters generally cry into their porridge rather than cornflakes. It's a dental thing.

Jordan De Goey
You'd think de Goey would be a better fit with West Coast.
