  1. Any chance of naming them? I recognize Grinter, Neitz, Greene, Yze, Nicholson, Holland, and Travis J, but I can't see Schwarz, and, Mister Grinter - god bless him - was before Neale's time...
  2. Pity about the 'Almost' posthumous assault on Brayshaw. Too late, she cried...What Maynard did was never 'legal' anyhow, despite what his lawyers say. They must have sought counsel for the dude who got Pell off...
  3. Great summary but I feel the Injury tally has been undervalued. I know I have been on about this before, but considering the injuries to Gawn and Oliver during the season, the simple fact is that the Demons did remarkably well considering the loss of Brown, McDonald, Petty, Fritsch and Melksham - all key forwards at various stages and seasons for us. The fact that the two finals which we lost by a total of - was it 9 points - is a minor miracle considering the critical absence of key forwards in the finals. Yes, McDonald and Fritsch played but neither were at their best due to the nature of their injuries, and if you add the loss of Brayshaw in the opening minutes, and the irony that Van Rooyen cops a week and Maynard is declared 'innocent', add that to the fact that, yes, they kicked poorly for goal, points to the simple fact that had the Injury Gods been kinder they surely would have achieved more. That they lost, in my estimation, was almost inevitable considering the need to turn injury-bred dysfunction on an almost weekly basis. That they nearly won both finals, had they kicked straight, was almost miraculous. The horizon is bright, as I see it. Billings and McAdam are potentially great gains, as are the youngsters we chose in the Draft. Add the discernable improvement of Laurie and Woewodin, the regained strength and fitness of Tomlinson, the hints Shache has given that he has maybe turned the corner, the pressure for selection from Howes and Turner, the hoped for return of a fit Petty and Oliver, and it's off to the 2024 Finals we go. May the Injury Gods be kind.
  4. And, che, per favore, bitte, what are those two words? I know Wine and ...can't think of what else...
  5. I've bushwalked The Governor's Balls. You start it at Sheepyard Flat.
  6. 'agility ladders and Poles'? Tell him to give up on conquering Poles - I'm married to one...
  7. Agree 100%: however, he has kicked a lot of goals, something we need someone to do every week. Everything is, however dependent on the wobblers called his knees.
  8. Oh No! Not Diamond Jim again...
  9. Metinks I might have inferred that, because, like I wrote, there were some bloody good players in that group. But, yes, you're so right about the depth of the mess we were in.
  10. Not sure about 'the worst list'. There were some rather talented players there: Viney, Gawn, Dunn, Howe, Frawley, Watts, I'm sure I spied a very young Hogan, Davey, Jetta, Trengove, Pedersen, Clark, Sylvia, The Russian, Spencer, Dawes, Barry, Kent, Jones, Terlich,Joel and Tom McDonald, Garland, Davey, Rodan. T'would seem to me the problems might have had more to do with the Coach...
  11. I've grown accustomed to the bulbous state: eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow, we diet.
  12. It means your computer is averse to Herald/Sun lies bulldust and propaganda. You have a good computer.
  13. He obviously likes the Dees, however, he fails to acknowledge that Petty and Melksham won't be available for a while, and he hasn't acknowledged that a fully fit Brown and McDonald will make a difference. Also, not many people - so called 'critical experts' - have taken into account the horrific plague of injuries to key Melbourne Forwards was absolutely crucial during the Finals which they lost by a margin of 9 points..., not to mention the assault on Brayshaw and the suspension of Van R...
  14. I can picture a Biffen party: Pymms and cucumber sandwiches. OH, then a glass of Pinot. Swank! Was that a work of fiction about flatulence?
  15. Please stop eating cucumber sandwiches.
  16. My wife and I have just returned from a 20 day break in Goolwa to try to regain some peace and sanity after my son's death. I was off air, but when we got back the Maynard Catastrophe hit the headlines again. I love the way the media makes him out to now becoming the victim of the change in rules ---NOT. Anyhow, we attended the 2nd Birthday celebrations of my one time best friend's daughter's daughter, if that makes sense. I sat next to an old chum, an E Colli Wobbler man, and he started telling the sad story of John Greening's demise at the hands of an O'dea or so - all in a day's work. He said it was Greening's 99th game, that he was destined to becoming THE GREATEST FOOTBALLER OF ALL TIME but when he returned 3 years later, he was but a shadow. I know the story - I was working at La Trobe Uni at the bookshop at the time and recall the kerfuffle and rightful indignation. My sympathies were and are with Greening. ( By the way, our daughter graduated in a Psychology Degree with Honours at the same Uni last Friday. ) I then asked Mr E Colli Wobbler how he felt when Maynard assaulted Brayshaw. He replied, There was nothing in it. I rest my case. E Colli Wobbler fans are as mad as snakes.
  17. Cept for '76, when, under Skilton, we missed out on the finals by a Robert Walls after the siren goal against Geelong...
  18. Neither have I heard or read any fuss that the Cats, Premiers in 2022 didn't even make the finals, despite their eternally favourable fixtures.
  19. Biffen meets Beelzebub. In Prahran, of all places. How mundane. Is you and the devil still pacted a la Faust?
