  1. Yes, I was there. I took my 5 year old son. Interestingly, he has always watched Carlton win watching them live, never seen them lose at Marvel/MCG. Have to take him more often, should take him to a Dees game or two as well 😁
  2. After a [censored] opening month of football where I watched all of Carlton's four opening losses live, went on a little family holiday abroad, tuned out of footy and the Blues win 2 on the trot (albeit against weak opposition). Coming back from the MCG on the train right now and my young son says to me "that was a good day!" ... yes ... yes it was 😁 With the Dees also on the winners list, my footy life is looking less bleak than it was a few weeks ago 😃
  3. G-Town is great, love the town and the people. Lived there for 5 years (some time ago). I could see Kardinia Park from my balcony when i lived there (Newtown represent 😁). I used to watch the Cats there occasionally when I didn't drive up the freeway to Princes Park, 3054. Never really developed an affection for the Cats (unlike the Dees) but have no hatred of them and respect what they have done over the last few decades. Sheets me how successful they have become and how much of a rabble my once proud mob have become in that time but its mostly self inflicted so can't complain too much 😁
  4. Tell me about it, footy really sucks right now. My almost 5 year old son last night asked me "Why are both Carlton and Melbourne losing all the time now?" Luckily we have some holidays abroad booked to look forward to as a diversion. I made sure we would be back by September, shouldn't have bothered 😁 BTW, I think both Voss & Goodwin need to go, they are losing their players after repeated failures (not just this season). Just a question of the right timing now I suspect. Goodwin managed a long drought breaking Flag and he will always have a place in the history of MFC for that. Voss got Carlton into a Prelim after a long time in Finals wilderness. But they are both stubborn, inflexible, wedded to an older style contested footy approach and struggling to adapt to the current and evolving trends in the game. Also, both clubs have some other issues they need to address, not just the senior coach but the senior coach is always the face of problematic issues. By the same token, both clubs have the nucleus of very good teams that in the right hands with some savvy trading and drafting could be in contention again in the near future, full blown rebuilds are not needed yet IMHO.
  5. Who will get axed first Voss or Goodwin? 🤔 Who will the Blues & Dees target as a replacement? Longmire, Simpson ... or even Buckley 😁
  6. This last quarter is pretty bad. Ruined some positives from earlier in the game.
  7. Dees could pull off a narrow win here with a bit of luck ... have showed some positive intent and signs in the 3rd quarter ...
  8. With Windsor & Pickett back in hoping the 'response' from MFC can also have some speed and youthful exuberance. Need a sporting pick me up after the debacle at the MCG last night 😁 Carn the Dees 😈 ** and Trac kicks the first goal 👍
  9. Low standard tussle. Blues improving a bit each week but Voss says we supposedly have a 'long runway'. Not sure I want to be taking off in Round 21 though 😁 Still, slightly ahead at HT, its the 4th quarter that usually lets Carlton down ...
  10. On a train heading to the MCG, somehow making it in earlier than customary and can hopefully squeeze a pint or two in at the Corner Hotel. My expectations are low, hate losing to the filth but will still show up for this one on the off chance ...[nervous tics commencing 😁] ... Carn the Blues!
  11. On the train to Marvel Stadium ... "This is the third time; I hope good luck lies in odd numbers. Away, go. They say there is divinity in odd numbers, either in nativity, chance, or death." Not sure why I am going, but I am 😁 Carn the Blues.
  12. Too small, restricted by housing development surrounding it. Great for a local footy team, not the Dees.
  13. Some interesting analysis on the Dees and Goodwin from a Carlton fan youtuber who has branched out into analysis of other teams. Might be of interest to some:
  14. There are two aspects to this though, its not just having the composure or time to lower the eyes, it is having forwards run to create space and options, this aspect is on the coaching group (similar issues to the Blues to be honest).
  15. With the loss of FTA coverage on Saturday nights, having FTA TV eyes on the Dees on Sunday arvos is not a bad side effect. I actually don't mind Sunday arvo games, kid friendly.
  16. On my way to the MCG. I am ready to be hurt again 😁 My expecations are low but this Carlton side does have a bit of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde about it ... so one never knows ... Carn the Blues!
  17. Once the new Parkville Metro Station opens it would make it easier and quicker to get to via PT from many parts of Melbourne than is currently the case.
  18. I saw Caroline Wilson on Ch7 having a dig at the Dees crowd, she can be so annoying. 23K isn't too bad considering the F1 GP, playing GWS and the weather was truly horrid for March. I was intending to take my young son to this game and bailed a few hours before the start because the weather was too cold and wet for him. We watched on tv instead. Interestingly, on this very same date last year I took my son to watch Dees v Doggies and it was a pleasant, sunny autumnal day and 44K turned up. I would guestimate 10K for the Bulldogs, a few thousand neutrals leaving around 30K Dees fans. Solidly good if you ask me.
  19. The Trac Attack is Back!
  20. The dubutants are looking solid, good first quarter by the Dees.
  21. A bit of both. Voss seems incapable of meaningful in game responsive changes and can't seem to breakout out of the straightjacket of the contested and stoppage game he understands to evolve into the modern game played today. To be a genuine top 4 contender this Carlton list also needs another quality tall defender and a quality small forward. Agreed that the Blues are a 5 to 14 side. I honestly believe a more capable coaching team with a few minor list changes could get this side a flag. It won't happen under Michael Voss.
  22. I agree 100% with such morbid sentiments 😁 Worst Carlton game I have watched for many years 🤮 Voss doesn't have it what it takes, I like the guy, legend of a player, not cut out to be a senior AFL coach with the style of football played today.
  23. On my way to the MCG, love seeing a Silvagni and a Camporeale in the team tonight. Footy is back! 😎
  24. FS - Father-Son (doesn't apply to Starcevich though). Good footballer, rate him, good traditional Croatian surname to boot 🇭🇷
  25. Not sure about his time at the Saints, I didn't really follow his fortunes there. I did notice him when he played at Fremantle though and thought he had his moments. I have two Freo suppirting mates who liked him and were sad to see him depart. It is true that Freo lowballed him with a contract offer, I thought it was low $200K but I don't swear on that. Anyways, glad we picked him up, handy player and had a knack of doing things in crucial moments that has made him a bit of Blues cult player [makes offerings to the shrine of Blake Acres in my living room] 🙏😁
