  1. There was some press about us practising with the Collingwood chant back before King's Birthday, but nothing mentioned in the second half of the season. Being in the crowd for both the Pies and Carlton semi finals, I definitely felt a bit overwhelmed by the sound in the Pies game in the third quarter so would be unsurprised by the players being spooked too. Although as a professional club we should address that...
  2. That's my plan for Friday... support the orange team while having some orange (amber...?)
  3. The Cats have been very successful at maximising their chances to play in finals due to similar actions (although it took them 10 years to get bookend premierships under Chris Scott). I think there was an interview with Goody or Yze earlier in the season (but close to finals) talking about how it is our intention to set up the club to be in contention for a long time, not just these next few years. Although looking at the end of Max's and May's careers makes me nervous on that front 😬 esp now we have Petty forward and Grundy likely gone
  4. Agreed, Mick has a long commitment to our AFLW team, from day one. He lives in the country but loves our AFLW team so much that he regularly commutes 2 or so hours each way. Since our whole AFLW has remained intact, I doubt he'd suddenly go to our AFLM team (even though his expertise would be very welcome). I get why people are saying this but it would be a disservice to our women!
  5. Very smart to hide, WCW! My friend from work made a gif of me shaking my head in disappointment at one of our losses and it's now become a meme amongst my friends and at work 🥲
  6. Hunt did not want to leave - he was asked to consider other options by the MFC and was devastated to go. Ironically you're the one rewriting history on that point! Bedford wanted to leave because he wasn't getting any chances - a big loss for us but fair enough for him, given it was back before the tactical sub so all Bedford really got to do was sit on the bench in 2022.
  7. @58er, mate, I think your quoting went a bit skewhif and the only person you meant to respond to was LITD?
  8. The Spotlight episode about CTE ends with an exclusive announcement about the NRL setting up a fund for all players to access yearly mental and physical checks, including brain scans. They deliberately ask the NRL rep whether the AFL and other codes should be doing something similar (and imply that the NRL are the first to do so). Maybe this spotlight on the AFL's lack of action will translate to a strong outcome against Maynard so that the AFL is seen to be doing something...
  9. Such a great watch! Pity we didn't break 100 but hard to care two much when the whole game (especially that final quarter) was just so fun!
  10. To be fair to Dunstan, he unfortunately has the knack of getting injured at the same time as our top mids and so hasn't really been viable. Wonder if he'll try to come back after this ACL or if he / the club will decide to call it a day
  11. Yes, same for my friend I visited today before open training. They got a bad knock at krav maga (first time concussion) and are now off work, all screens, little to no focused reading and the like. Listening to them describe how the past 3 weeks have been makes me think we will not see Gus for the rest of this season given his history of knocks... Podcasts are my friend's main source of entertainment, so at least that is a positive. We all know Gus loves a podcast!
  12. Look, I haven't played footy so I'm not a valid opinion haver most of the time 😂
  13. A few of the boys finished with practicising goal kicking, some nice shots by Viney. Grundy hung back to sign balls and chat with fans - that seems like investment to me!
  14. Yep, the trainer in front of me said Harmes would be focusing on strength today
  15. Ooops I lied, there's a third group on the other side of the ground from where I am. Similar forward sim, but too far to see who exactly involved. They've now consolidated the two forward groups and are debriefing. The defence team is also debriefing with Chaplin. Max walking around perimeter and signing things - assume things will wrap soon and the rest of the boys will do the same.
  16. Lots of families out watching the training, which is nice to see. They were doing some kick pass drills when I arrived but stopped before I noticed anything (or anyone) interesting. They've split into two groups. One is running a light defence and forward entry sim (all the usual defenders involved, split in to reds and white bibs). The smaller group seems to be practising crumbing and kicking for goal (from the right pocket). Grundy and Jordon are in this pocket, with Kyah Farris White also kind of just shadowing. Sestan is doing resistance training.
  17. Yep, I'll be heading over a bit late to training since I have a prior engagement, so I'll catch the final half hour probably
  18. Ryan, what a legend!! I'm wearing a 2021 premiership top to the G, to be subbed out for the Possessed top on arrival 😄
  19. Big mood - just got a call from the boss because a client is asking for something urgently and yet my brain is completely devoted to waiting nervously for the game!
  20. Simply stunning this morning going through the Vic countryside to arrive for our big day! But I did pack the raincoat... BOM saying a 25% chance of 1 to 2 mm, fingers crossed!
  21. The wonky column widths are really something
  22. It's now a running joke with my coworkers how AFL mad I am - but the one other Melbournian in the Sydney office with me, he sees it as completely normal! 10 hour train ride down on Wednesday night, this whole week feels like wading through treacle for the good part.
  23. Agreed, from memory all of our wet games were very very close games. The only wet game outside of a goal or so was the Essendon game (which also was our largest losing margin for the season, at 27 points). Like you said, there were other reasons for why we fell over in that game. We've been tested again and again during the season and I think that puts us in a good position to play in any weather at this pointy end of the year!
  24. Chicken salt is a salt and herb blend made to marinade chickens, invented in the 80s! The original didn't have chicken in it but later variations have chicken stock. Source (sauce 😛): my friend two weeks ago when we were all drinking and had the same question!
