POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Are we loading already ? lol No but in all honesty yesterday's game looked anything but what a flag favourite would do. Yes Essendon is sitting in the top 2 but 3 of their 4 wins came against lower opponents. They may finish between 7-11 but this should have been a comfortable win. The lack of effort was concerning and we can't afford this anymore this season. I really hope that the lack of leadership onfield contributed to not being able to snap out of it and the likes of Lever and Gawn returning will prevent and fuel a response mid game if we were to be in this position again. We have the talent, the gameplan is good. I don't believe we have a forward line problem at all. We are the highest scoring team this season! What we saw yesterday was rather a lack of application of our gameplan/system due to almost every player being off their game. They need to pull their head in for the Richmond game but I think we'll be 7-2 by the end of round 9.

2023 Expert Predictions
Looks like it's ours to lose, again... I am quite optimistic for this season and winning on Saturday without 4 of our best 18 players would be a great indication we are in it to win it... but really this year. COME ON DEES!

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years
Kozzy is such a special player and only 21! I can't even imagine what he will be doing at 24/25 years of age at his prime... 😩

Do the Dees have the pieces to make another premiership tilt?
Yep I agree and this proves that the continued dissatisfaction from people thinking we lack a tall/key forward is delusional. We have: JVR, TMac (little banged up), BBB (little banged up), Petty (potentially a key forward in the making with his contested marking ability), Tommo, Smith, and both our Ruckman if needed... oh and of course Schache if we become incredibly desperate. We should be alright for next year, in fact next year will be the start of our three-peat 😉

PODCAST: Season Review & Trade Wrap
How do we combat the high pressure gamestyle? We often looked like deer in the headlights when challenged by high pressure teams this year. Which is odd because we have so much talent on our list that we should be able to walk through it quite easily. Is our conservative gamestyle of 2021/22 over and outdated? Could we transition to a more fast paced offensive gameplan to keep up with the likes of the new teams that are rising up the ranks, similar to our 2018 style?

Farewell Brodie Grundy
True bargain is a strong word. However I think having two ruckman in a team is becoming a bit of a trend and makes the team a lot stronger, especially when you have a powerful contested mark in Gawn who can drift all over the ground. We are essentially paying the same as we would for another KPP so I think it will be quite rewarding

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I believe the pies are paying $300k of the $1mill a year... so nothing has changed on that front it seems. If we get him fit, paying $700k for an elite ruck is a bargain even at $750k.

2022 NATIONAL DRAFT ORDER AND SELECTIONS 2022
Who cares. The points have no value as we’re not negotiating for a player, furthermore Lamb said we weren’t gonna use the later picks anaway so we basically swapped pick 33 to 27 for free. We get Grundy, that’s the main objective. The picks from our Jackson trade are the one’s to worry about. I heard we might get pick 13 and NM’s future 2nd 19-21 range) and Freo’s future first. It might be wishful thinking but this trade would give us 2 good picks for next year’s strong draft.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Freo seem to be a stubborn bunch of [censored]. Do they honestly think they will land a 200cm generational ruckman with two late firsts? They do not grow on trees. If they can't give us the picks they will have to trade a quality youngster like Serong or Young at least along with their pick 13/14. We give back Jackson and a 2nd or 3rd rounder

Welcome to Demonland Lachie Hunter
I like it! We need another good winger to support Langdon. He also knows how to find a target and has a good left foot. We will play Brayshaw on HBF (where he played arguably his best ever footy) or in the midfield next year, especially if we lose Harmes we can rotate JJ through there too, it seems our recruiting team is trying to patch up some weaknesses.

James Harmes off to Essendon?
While it's disappointing to see such a player explore other options isn't this what is required to contend again next year? We desperately need to switch things up and move players around and bring new ones in to adapt. This is exactly what we're doing and I'm all for it. To me this looks like a really productive trade period from our recruiting team! We can cover Harmes' strengths, although we have now lost pace with both Hunt and Bedford but who knows we might pick someone up that fits the bill.
