    I concur with @binman

The first thing I thought of when this was announced was the day we announced Roosy was coming on board. It cleared away alot of the acrid stench of 2013 in one fell swoop.  Ironically enough, this appointment will mean that Roosy's consulting company has definitely lost its gig at North.

The Dons treatment of Rutten has been apalling and the need of some segments of their supporter base to promote James Hird as coach again is delusional.

Watching Footy Classified on YouTube, Caro came straight out and marked Robinson 'a James Hird spokesman in the media'. I'm glad someone said it. The Hun and all its Essendon/Hird cheerleaders reheating the ASADA battle is as tiresome as how often they write about the Melbourne gangland war (despite Carlos being arrested in '04 and being dead for 12 years).

So this means North will be competitive in 4 or 5 years? Will Clarkson still be there by then?

Any consequences for the Tasmanian team bid now that Clarkson is no longer a central piece of their plan?

    The sensible thing to do.

The Ess factions have been warring for a long time.  It wouldn't end if Clarkson went there; it may have even become worse.

Ess has kicked the biggest 'own goal' of all time.  They are now so badly fractured who knows how long it will take to put the pieces back together.  Would be happy if it takes 'forever'!

If Clarkson turns them down, who would be silly enough to take the coaching job.

    Time for the popcorn!

Can we pick up some pieces from the crumbling Bombers? Any decent player that may fit in our list?

There could be a real treasure trove of players available this season. With the likes of Saints and Bombers, possibly looking to reset and let go some of their more mature talent to get back into the draft.

They will most likely want to hold onto their a-grade talent unless they request a trade out. Time for the recruiting dept to reach some of these managers if they havent already.

Who would you have on your shopping list? The obvious (but probably untouchable) is Max King and even Peter Wright. Would you look to get in Merret on JJ's wing? So much to think about!

How good it is not to be the basketcase of the competition. Grim memories from circa 2011-2012 are slowly dying out.

You can also add May be pushed in the center of the back ,  by McKay ( using his hands not his forearms )  , so McKay could mark

Yet the majority of Carlton supporters claim they were hard done by the umpires 🤦🏻‍♂️

I'd like to hear from the panel and listeners if (especially in the last two weeks) when we're losing they also put their wireless ear buds in the ears to block out the impending final siren opposition roar that hurts too much and then when Kozzie kicked the winning the buds went flying out and needed some serious finding afterwards!

I actually left the MCG to my own demise... At least was able to stop at Gate 4 and scream like crazy with other fellow demons

What do the last ten premiership teams have in common? They were all ranked in the top 6 in the following statistical categories in their premiership year:

    • Shots at goal differential (all ranked top 4)
    • Total points conceded
    • Opposition shots at goal
    • Opposition goals
    • Percentage
    • Inside 50s

Following on from the thread H&A % as an indicator of team chances to win Finals, I decided to look at what stats (including percentage) recent premiership teams have in common using a somewhat simplistic methodology.

I have analysed the ranks of the last ten premiership teams against a large number of statistical categories in their premiership year. There are 26 statistical categories in which at least eight of the last ten premiers ranked in the top 6. The list of the 26 categories are in the images at the end of this post.

Nine of the last ten premiers were ranked in the top 6 in at least 21 of these 26 categories (the Western Bulldogs ranked in the top 6 in 18 categories in 2016). Melbourne ranked number 1 in 16 of these categories last year, more than any other premiership team in the last ten years.

There are currently three standout teams this season for these "premiership metrics" - Geelong, Melbourne and Sydney.

"Premiership Metrics" ranked in the top 6 in 2022

    • 25: Geelong
    • 24: Melbourne
    • 19: Sydney
    • 14: Brisbane
    • 14: Richmond
    • 13: Fremantle
    • 11: Collingwood
    • 10: Western Bulldogs
    • 8: Carlton

    What are the Premiership Metrics?

Where do teams ranks against these metrics in 2022?

Impressive what the boys accomplished last year, it should be spoken as one of the most dominant seasons including the finals.

If Pies win, we are likely 3rd, but FW final at the G against Coll if we beat Brisbane

But Sydney look a lot better

So the reigning premier must fear some teams (e.g. Geelong or Sydney)? Not the best attitude to have going to September if you ask me.

You do realise it’s harder for us to maintain second if Magpies beat the Swans ? lol 🤦‍♂️

Exactly, best case scenario for us is equalization of points. Then percentage will be like a flip of a coin.

Why do posters want swans to win. We cant finish  2nd. Imagine relying on Saints to do the right thing by us. Hilarious!

You all must really hate Collingwood...lol

I think most of us believe we are a good chance for the premiership as long as we are top 4, so not necessary to finish second.

Still not sure who I want to win out of Syd & C'wood to increase the chances  we finish in the top 4  IF we lose to Brisbane (yes, sorry, I'm looking at the pessimistic case). I think in that case we want C'wood to thrash Sydney and Sydney to not get their percentage up in the last round? Views?

No, we never wish well to Collingwood. Sydney to win by the smallest of margins. They (Pies) then lose again against Carlton and drop of top 4. That would mean that we either win against Brisbane, Sydney loses against St Kilda (wishful thinking) or Freo to draw/lose.

Unfortunately it may be the best scenario  that Pies keep winning their H&W games which guarantees both QF at the Mcg.

We finish 4 or 3rd  , doesnt matter. We can beat both of the top2.

A Swans final at the SCG or Lions at the gabba is game over.

I thought Brisbane has a horrible record at the Gabba in finals?
