I think old habits are too engrained at this stage in their careers (for those 3 players mentioned). Even if they worked on improving, which in theory they have, realistically it could take them 2 more preseasons before we can see results in performance on the field. By then Viney will be 33, 31 Petraca, 31 Oliver.

How are we going to cover the end of May and TMac careers? I think he can still be a May replacement down back. With Disco and hopefully an in form Lever.

But that stat kind of sugar coats on our ineptitude to convert goals. It would be more helpful to check our numbers per inside 50 entries. Don't be fooled by the behinds/goals ratio. For example the goal per inside 50 entry average in the AFL is around 24%. Meaning AFL teams get a goal for every 4 entries to their fwd 50. I am pretty sure we are not anywhere near that.

We may be in danger of losing some of our young crop if we insist in keeping Simon. If 2026 is just a repeat of 2025, under Simon, I can see names like XL or Langford starting to doubt their long term commitment to this club. If nothing more, a new coach may be enough to get those players excited about the future.
