  1. I agree with what everyone is saying. he's a good player and has that burst of speed which is good. But we don't have the money. I would however be interested in targeting Shuey from WCE for a 1 year rental. I think he would be much cheaper and has the finishing that we lack sometimes. And he's clutch in big games.
  2. Well they opened us up last year when we drew against them... Same as Adelaide...and Collingwood.. I think it's more mindset and execution than personnel.
  3. Fair point. He does drop quite a lot of uncontested marks too. And he did so on the weekend again.
  4. They also had Jiath, M.Lewis and their 2 ruckman out so had to rely on Max Lynch to nullify Gawn which he couldn't. Jiath and Lewis are both guns. And because they aren't as deep as us their losses are just as big. Throw in Grainger-Barrass who is an exciting up and coming defender. We can't mention our outs without mentioning theirs.
  5. Despite being one of the best midfields of modern times, we've historically been quite poor at clearance. This is despite Oliver being the number 1 clearance player in the AFL in 2022. Any chance we could have Petracca coming off the back of the square for the centre clearances and trial someone like a sparrow in there or something? If we're not winning clearance it makes sense to put someone else in there, just for the clearances. Keep Petracca in the midfield but just have someone else in the clearance?
  6. And some not so good touches. Not even singling out Melksham but we need to make it easier for ourselves. Going inside 50m really needs to be worked on.
  7. Oh thanks! okay, maybe he's a chance then
  8. Didn't Brayshaw literally say in the podcast that he would prefer to 'eat a plate of [censored]' than go to freo? I swear he actually said this in the podcast. Nothing to worry about. But I'd prefer to lose Brayshaw than Jackson so if Brayshaw left to keep jacko then so be it.
  9. Yeah, I value moments in a game. Many of their mistakes were crucial and game defining. If Fritsch hadn't have turned it over so poorly we probably win by 40. but instead they go up the other end score a goal, sniff a chance to steal the game and momentum changes. Footy is like a game of tennis to me, whoever makes the least mistakes wins. If we look at Trent Rivers giving that dumb free away to Mitchell. If he doesn't give that away, Hawks don't get within 10 either. The NBA understand momentum better than our code does and the brain fades and poor execution kept the hawks in the game when it mattered. It's a fine line between 10 and 50 points and sometimes it's just a kick here or there. Not to mention the misses from Oliver, Melksham, Mcdonald and Petracca. The 2021 Grand final is testament to that. The last 3 goals of the 3rd qtr broke the dogs. If we miss those 3 shots, the 4th quarter doesn't pan out the way it did. (Although I still think we would've won). And like tennis, it doesn't matter how many deep heavy forehands you hit, if you come to the net and volley it into the net the shots beforehand mean nothing. But yeah, I've been extremely critical of our efficiency going forward recently but I know the coaches are working on it. I mean like come on, you gotta hit these sort of inside 50's.
  10. Yeah, he cracked in like always. But he kicked 2 on the full using his left. Turnovers like that are so costly. So I'd prefer him to respect the ball and possession more.
  11. My Top 10. in order. 1. Oliver 2. Gawn 3. Petracca 4. May 5. Lever 6. Salem 7. Langdon 8. Viney 9. Fritsch 10. Neal-Bullen.
  12. I certainly hope the players and coaching staff respect the opposition a lot more than you lot. It's this sort of mindset that meant that we lost to all the bottom 4 teams last year. Let's not get complacent. It's time to get out of this 'first gear' mentality. When the game is up for grabs with 10 mins to go, that isn't by design. And I'm not just talking about the hawks game. I'm referring to Essendon and Gold Coast too.
  13. I went to go watch. Gawn/Weideman/Mcdonald/Weideman/Taj Woewodin/Daniel Turner/Blake Howes/Lever/Aaron Davey/Matthew Whelan/Mark Williams/Troy Chaplin all watching together. As well as Sam Frost :) It was good to see Bailey Laurie find some of the ball. He still needs to work on his conditioning and get fitter. Still carrying excess weight.
  14. How do you know that they're sick? They may have just had a positive RAT test but felt fine. People are just speculating that they are sick.
  15. In: Jackson, Pickett, Sparrow, ANB, Petty, Hibberd. Out: Melksham, Hunt, Chandler, Dunstan, Weideman, Joel Smith.
  16. Agree with most of it. My notables: Brayshaw: Overrates his left Lever: Slow, fumble, frazzled. Fritsch: costly forward turnover Oliver: Didn't ice game Petracca: Ben Simmons (of) goal-kicking.
  17. Yeah that's what I keep trying to tell myself. But having the game on the line with 5 mins to go against Gold Coast, Essendon and Hawthorn is not by design.
  18. Mate, we defender horribly today. We showed consistently an inability to defend their ball movement. It was very concerning. They had 26 shots on goal from 50 inside 50's. So 52% of the time they go inside 50, they score. That's horrible defending. And also due to the lack of defending up the field.
  19. True. I just think we should recognise that we aren't in form. We're playing like trash. We won't get close to Stkilda if we play like this. People love talking about gears. When will we get into gear? If not round 7, round 10? round 18? round 23? finals? Who knows.
  20. respectfully the disagree. Have about 5 full timers spending all week knowing that Hawks got off to a hot start against Sydney and that we needed to be on. What happens? They kick 3 goals in the first 3 mins. There's no excuse for that. Gunston missed about 3 easy shots too. The last quarter was horrendous. Consistently lacing out hawks defenders and getting torched on the rebound. The missed shots don't even bother me as much as the direct turnovers.
  21. What did you see? I saw us play 1 bad quarter, 1 average quarter, 1 good quarter and 1 terrible quarter.
  22. Guys I don't like to be a negative Nelly but I thought today was horrendous. :( Can someone lift my spirits!? Things that I saw: - A complete inability to defend the switch kick or outlet kick. - Inability to have an answer for Dylan Moore who absolutely tore us up. - Brayshaw having way too much confidence kicking on his left foot. Kicked it on the full twice. - Inability to make good decisions going forward. Time and time and time and time again. - No game sense. Giving away dumb frees. But also going inside 50m. A stoppage going inside 50m is a massive win when the game is close. Instead guys like Fritsch, Spargo and half the team turned it directly over to hawthorn. Almost cost us the game. Dunstan was just about the only guy the went inside 50m with any sense of game smarts. Straight to the hot spot. - A complete lack of defensive pressure.
  23. Simply because he hasn't signed yet. The CBA isn't a real excuse for not signing as they can put it in the contract that any % in crease in player salaries will be adjusted in the salary. So I think it's concerning.
  24. WC will offer close to a Million mate. That's what he's worth to pry out of a club.
