Tom McDonald Sent for Scans
I’ve just sped read the above texts. If he is injured I would like to think that the positive is that we have depth and options to bring in and cover for him. I’ll let others debate / decide who it should / will be. Gives exposure to the up and coming players and gives TMac a chance to come good. Fingers crossed. It’s a long season, unfortunately shiiiit is going to happen from time to time.

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Brisbane
I would like to see us take a more of a ‘horses for courses’ selection process for players each game day, rather than trying to have a ‘settled’ side week in, week out. Potential positives include:- Given the depth of talent in our current squad, this would give more players the opportunity to gain experience and exposure in the ones. This would also give injured players (eg -May) extra time to overcome injury concerns and increase their chances of being fully fit come September And enable some other key ‘older’ players to be rested when they need a break Which in turn would encourage positive competition on the training track week in , week out. All in all this should improve chances of having a fit and committed team come September that has real proven depth (eg - in case we encounter a serious injury in the finals campaign). The downside risk I see with this approach being not having a ‘settled stable side’. The counter argument however being is that if more players get appropriate game exposure during the year, they should get more and more familiar with the ‘demons system of play’ so if and when the need arose they could just slot into the ones. We need to take advantage of our current squad’s depth. Come September only 23 can make the team. The players that miss out would at least know they were very important contributors who enabled the club to get there. And by the way, I could be totally wrong, I’m just a fan of the club. Not really fussed if people think I’ve got it all wrong (good chance I have!). And for the record, I fully back the football department. Never in my life have I been so happy following the Mighty Dees. That is an undisputed fact! GO DEES!!!

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Brisbane
Agree, would rather delay his and others return by and have him / them 100% fit when he / they are back. Upside we have plenty of depth, gives these guys exposure and experience on the big stage. Let’s utilise our squad’s strength. It’s going to be a long season…. we want all our key players cherry ripe come September. (exact opposite to last year)

I liked how Grundy was one of the first to arrive to back Kossie up after the bump. He is now definitely one of us. GO DEES!

I hope that it ends up being another drawn game

NON-MFC: Rd 01 2023
Relax? How can I? We are about to play the dogies tonight! I could only listen to the game last night but it appears to me that both these sides will most likely be serious contenders come year end. I hope I am wrong

NON-MFC: Rd 01 2023
I could only listen to the game. In my opinion Collingwood is a serious contender this year. I hope I can say the same for the mighty Dees around this time tomorrow night. GO DEES!!!

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Could be a blessing in disguise. Gives some of our very good back up players opportunity to play in the ones and get exposure and experience. Also gives you confidence to then promote these guys when we have injuries/ form concerns / resting players ( to keep them fresh for the back half of the season). This would also give Salem opportunity to do a ‘pre season’ load so that he comes back fit and ready to go.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Hey 58er, I’m not sure what issues you have with me and my posts (That’s not the first crazy or ridiculous comment from Wod). Hey, but you have me curious? Could you either pm me a summary (or detailed listing) of the crazy and ridiculous comments that I have made. Or alternatively you can post them in this thread. I really don’t care which way you choose to respond. And…..I promise not to respond. As I said above, I’m just curious to find out which of my prior posts irk you to such a degree that you got to put it out there. At the very least I would like to think that one thing we do have in common is that we have the Dees in our hearts……(I hope) Cheers

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
To clarify- I’m sure he can and most likely will get a game/s due to injuries or form drop throughout 2023. I don’t think he will be in the starting line come first game. And then if he does get a gig and perform that would be fantastic….. I just feel that 2024 will be his breakout year. If he does it sooner, great.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Looked very smooooth pretty much all game. Five goals to none in the first quarter, break even the next two and then slightly upped the ante in the last. Stand out was quick decisive entries into the forward line and the Grundy and Max combination up forward worked well. Dare I say it, I reckon there is a good chance that JVR’s entry into the big time might be delayed. In my opinion, all good, let him put on another year of building up his footy smarts. He is still just a ‘kid’.

Playing injured
In 2021 we had a great side and a good run with injuries. Unfortunately in 2022 we had a poor run with injuries. It takes a good fit side to win a premiership which means that there is always an element of luck involved…..unfortunately. Fingers crossed for 2023.
