  1. Makes me admire her that much more!

I really don’t understand how the idyllic lifestyle of Cranbourne/ Casey doesn’t entice more players to come and stay (obviously joking and I can - I live down that way!)

I’ve always had a lot of time for Rivers from the day he started. He has a lot of upside. Looking forward (wanting ) him to stay on for the long run. As an aside, it really adds a level of stress each and every year when the speculation starts about who may leave / be poached. Without being an avid follower, it appears Geelong seem to hang on to their talent better than most. Guess it has a lot to do with their culture. I am hoping that the values and ethics that Goodwin and the MFC are on about will rub off onto the players. Time will tell. 🤞
  4. And I hope he has a lot of fun and decides to hang around for a while
  5. I found the comments about JVR’s readiness to play at AFL interesting. Particularly, when a lot of posters thought that he should have been played in the ones last season. I saw a few VFL games last year (albeit mostly on tv) and without trying to sound disrespectful, he looked good at times and was extremely competitive, but it was VFL footy, not AFL . I too in the later half of last season was hoping at times that he’d be promoted but at the same time a little voice in my head said ‘maybe it’s too soon’. With benefit of hindsight I’m glad he didn’t play. I would much rather see him promoted on merit rather than on being used to plug a gap due to injuries. He is one year older now and one year footy wiser but still very young. 2023 will be very interesting. Having said all that, wouldn’t it be great to see him not only earn his spot in the ones but become an ‘x’ factor nearing finals tIme, something that takes opposition sides by surprise. I live and I dream…Go Dees
  6. Agree, I think we the fans (or maybe just me) also are/ am taking a bit of a reset this year. 2021 was special. Felt early on in the season that we were real contenders. Loved the whole season for obvious reasons. Expectation in 2021 was that we’d go back to back at the G. Turned out to be a most nervous and frustrating season being a supporter. Many reasons, pressure of being the hunted, injuries, connectivity with forwards, supporter negativity syndrome, to name a few. This year I would like to think that with a bit of luck we could win the minor premiership and then the big one. Realistically would accept top two finish and to be considered serious contenders. Failing that, top four finish and contenders. Failing that, top eight finish and making up numbers wouldn’t cut it for me. Finishing outside the eight, unthinkable. I am looking forward to experiencing an exciting 2023 following the Dees🤞
  7. It was a great read until it got to the bit where if you wanted to read on you had to subscribe. I paid the money and kept reading! Money well spent. Go Dees

I must have some real problems then. The filth is undoubtedly my number one team that I despise (particularly from a supporter base perspective). I find it hard to seperate Carlscum and Essendrug as the next on the list, very interchangeable . Too many teams in my third tier hate list so I’ll leave it at that. I know it a very traditional ‘hate’ list but I’ve been around for a while and feel very comfortable with my take on this, my views have not really changed all that much over the decades.
  9. In chronological order A) Kozzie signs a new contract B) Minor premiership C) Premiership Nothing more, nothing less

I sort of don’t mind how this year there is a tendency of the mainstream media (and therefore the public) to write off Goody and MFC. It means we can start the season flying under the radar, so to speak A complete opposite to what happened last season. I feel that we, both the team and supporter base, (or could just be me) don’t have to endure feeling the pressure of everyone wanting to benchmark against and beat the reigning premiers. Looking forward to season 2023…hoping it goes like it did for us in 2021….GO DEES!
  11. Fingers crossed that Kozzie does not replicate the Jacko saga that we had to endure last year. Please re - sign (had to be careful typing that one) sooner than later.……same goes for Rivers…..and May!
  12. And sadly it is the only thing my wife tends to read (from cover to cover) and worse still, believes what she reads. And it doesn’t help our relationship one iota when discussing pretty much any issue I respond with ‘is that a fact or did you read it in the Herald Sun. I can’t even refer to it being called a ‘newspaper’, it is a ‘Murdoch tabloid’. There is a big difference, news v unsubstantiated biased opinions.
  13. Great club, even greater culture- GO DEES
  14. Agree that TMac was very much missed. Fingers crossed that he will be fit to go but I would also like to see a ‘fit to play’ BBB and perhaps a fired up and raring to go JVR as well in the mix. Not to mention getting a better connectivity with and delivery from the mids. The recruiting of Lachie Hunter I feel may be a important inclusion that helps address this issue. Fingers crossed

Whoops, totally forgot about TMac!! (my bad)

I’d like to see Petty remain in the back half of the ground. Our backline is our strength. If it’s not broken, don’t stuff around with it. Rather see (hope) that JVR is part of the solution for the forward line along with a well ‘player managed’ BBB. …..and better delivery / connectivity coming from / with the mids
  17. If Yze goes then definitely consider getting Ratten back. As much as I would like Yze to stay he definitely wants to move up in the world of coaching. Unfortunately, this must have some sort of destabilising impact on the players / coaching team.
  18. The only upside I can see if Lyon gets the job is that he no longer would be part of the Footy Classified show. Geez, he used to [censored] on at times.
  19. How does Neal Daniher’s famous quote go? After all is said…..
  20. The ‘one is enough Saints’ take yet another decisive step to ensure that they certainly won’t be contenders in 2023. Their supporters are just about guaranteed to know what it’s going to feel like barracking for a football club that hasn’t won a flag in 57 years. Something that not even we have had to experience. (Phew).
  21. Agree. Backline has been very solid so don’t rob it to fix issues with the forwards. Mids also very solid when not plagued by injuries. Just need to avoid getting injured (luck plays a big part) remain fit, and rediscover their killer / domination instincts. Win the contested footy and deliver it to our forwards quickly. Our forward line was our Achilles heel last year but not totally their fault. The delivery of the footy to them was not great. Appeared to be very one dimensional and slow. Fingers crossed for TMac and BBB to overcome injuries and play out year. Time for JVR to strut his stuff on the big stage. I believe Lachie Hunter is a blessing in disguise. Someone who has smarts and can deliver to the forwards. Schache hopefully gets a new lease on life and becomes another forward option (or at worst a backup). And then lock it in there! I think I’m an exception but I always liked big Max filling holes in the defence rather than playing forward. I would even keep Grundy out of the forward line. Just imagine our two big ruckmen either getting intercept marks or bringing the ball down to our advantage from the half back to half forward line. Can we bring home the bacon? Bloody oath we can! Bring on 2023, I can hardly wait.
  22. They don’t deserve Yze as a coach

And when he faces up against the ferals I want to see him looking very angry

I’m not bitter Hope we smash Freo when we play them whenever and wherever. Hope they don’t make the finals and we snag a flag in 23. Ahh, I feel better now

Football is a tribal sport to me. Put simply, Luke Jackson is now an enemy to me. GO DEES!
