How is this for luck. Used to get general membership for a number of years for my kids and me. At the start of 2021 one of my kids came out of the closet so to speak and told me he had for a number of years been a Port Adelaide supporter. Obviously this brought great shame to our family. (My therapist says it’s good for me to talk about these things) From memory just before the Collingwood game that same year, I took up an offer from MFC to upgrade membership to a GF guarantee. Took up the offer, I really thought that we were a chance as well as a bit of FOMO. I think that week Covid also meant we couldn’t attend any more home games in Vic. Such is. Cut a long story short, went off travelling up north and rather than head home went first to SA then WA (legally) and managed to attend all our finals games including the big one! Feel now obligated to renew membership each year without question (I’m on auto renewal). As an aside, everyone talks about the GF over there in 2021. The game against Geelong a fortnight earlier (where we smashed them) was right up there too. The atmosphere was electric. WA supporters obviously hate Geelong as well. Go Dees! .

Totally 100% agree. Would love to see the boys taking the training track intensity out onto the ground this year. Want opposition teams and supporters to see a fully motivated team with silky skills that does not take a backward step. A team on a mission.

My anger was actually more directed towards the absolutely horrible disgusting pack mentality of large sections of the Collingwood crowd that emerged and permeated across the ground when they started that slow repetitive chant of ‘Collllllingwood’ whilst an opposition was lying unconscious on the ground. Never have I felt so angry and disgusted attending a football game. It was really shameful what happened that night with large sections of the crowd. It was a very tense, putrid period of time when it was all unfolding. I despise the ‘filth culture’ as opposed to their actual team. (Don’t get me wrong, I still ‘love to hate’ Cox and Maynard for example, miss hating Ginnivan and quietly admire Elliot, he is a great player in my opinion). Bottom line, I have hated the Filth for so many reasons over the years. It just increased again that night.

Players who need a big year…..everyone!

Geez, the actual playing season was a tough gig at times, the ‘off season’ seems even tougher. Not much fun and joy logging into Demonland of late. I’m going to make a big effort to not having a look again at what’s happening till say February next year. At the moment it almost seems like shades of what happened when we won our last flag in 1964. I hope history doesn’t repeat. If it does, I’ll be dead before our next one. Membership is on auto review. I’ll remain a demon supporter until the day I die. I just want to enjoy summer. Merry Xmas everyone! Over and out. Go Dee’s

I most definitely agree with your last sentence. Also the fact that we had the vast majority of WA football fans that hopped on the Demon bus. Trust me, they were loud, very loud. I was lucky enough to make it over there. I reckon at the GF it was around a 65/35 split, maybe even a 70/30 split and the noise was unbelievable. Think West Coast and Freo supporters combined, charged up, enjoying the show, particularly when we got going in the third quarter (yes, including the booing). Our players must have relished all that. It was pure magic. Last but not least, let’s not forget the fortnight earlier when we busted Geelong out of the park. I reckon it might have even been more noisy then. My theory being that they must really hate Geelong. Crowd would have been say a 75/25 split. Most memorable moment? When the whole crowd started chanting ‘Gawny, Gawny….’ You just had to be there.

On reflection…….it has all been strange and weird.

Hopefully a few more of us supporters rock up to our games next year….wait for it…..for big Max’s sake. We owe him.

GWS. They were robbed by the umpires against the Ferals for their chance to play in a GF last year - which more likely than not would have won. Good luck to them for this year (Hawks playing the most crowd pleasing footy at the moment)

One upside about Freo losing. We all get a chance to see Carlton lose again in a fortnight.

I’ll start on a positive. The only highlight being at the G last night was giving that dirty filthy mongrel [censored] Maynard all that he deserved. Well done demon supporters. Good job! The bad, it’s all been said above. The worst. Listening to that germ Derm on SEN whilst watching the game. Have never come across a more pompous full of himself [censored] that loves himself and hates Melbourne with a vengeance. He was at his deplorable worst last night. Glad the season is over. (Go GWS in the finals)
