Good point - I’d still love to grab Langford or Lalor at 5, and a player like Lindsay if we can trade for another first round pick But if Langford and Lalor go before 5, and a Smith or O’Sullivan falls to us, Hynes could be a great addition in that mid fwd mould

Dude has the name of an 80s porn star Get him in 😈
-
Would love to get Andy to the Dees at the end of 2025, but hard to see him leaving the Dockers given how bright their future is and that he’s their captain in waiting We can dream though 🥹
-
Langford/Lalor and Lindsay would be the dream if we can nab another first rounder Between them Windsor and Kolt, we will have rejuvenated our younger midfield stocks in two drafts - all would have unique traits from one another too

Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford

I wonder if North would consider trading pick 2 for 5 and change if they’re targeting Trainor? I know the top five or six prospects are similarly rated but I’d love to be able to zero in on JT’s highest ranked player if possible (presuming Richmond don’t take him with 1) -
I love the idea of Berry if we can grab him with a second rounder Kozzy is the only small forward on our list who can consistently hit the score board while applying elite pressure (Chandler and Spargo more high half forwards) Berry and Kozzie could absolutely cause havoc while also helping our ground ball and ball movement work Plus we may need another long term small forward if god forbid Kozzie leaves 🫣

Yikes… coming from his management Hard not to see this happening if he’s still keen on a move come the trade period and we get a strong offer from Freo or WC
-
He’s the one I’d be after if there’s even a sniff that he’d want to return home to Victoria Offer him Trac’s contract if need be (too soon?)
-
He hasn’t nominated a club, but it’s been noted he grew up supporting West Coast They can get two of the three purely from a picks perspective
-
They have three first rounders this year and their own future first - more than enough capital to get both of them
-
Yikes… can’t just be another bout of homesickness if he has a particular club in mind Presuming the report is true of course…

Josh Smilie, Jagga Smith, Harvey Langford, Sam Lalor and Luke Trainor - YOU are Melbourne Demons

Thanks @spirit of norm smith I reckon the VFL could be a great source of players for us as we look to top up, as we can’t simply bring in 6-7 eighteen year olds in the ND and expect to fill all of our list holes Geelong in particular has done a great job in recent years with their late ND, rookie and SSP picks, and I hope we’ve got our eye on a couple of mature age players who might be going under the radar at one of these clubs

I for one will welcome our return to the Sunday 1:10 slot

Praying for Langford 🙏 he just looks like a mini Bont to me

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
demoncat replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not saying he’s going to end up at his level BUT the player who Langford most reminds me of is Bont Strong, great overhead, piercing left boot and what he lacks in pure speed he makes up for in high footy IQ You’d be happy with any of the top 5 or 6 prospects but Langford is really the standout for me -
If he’s talking about adding elite talent in the 25-27 range then I agree - we have a big black hole in our list on that age range But the last thing we need to be doing is adding players any older than that at the expense of bringing younger talent in Very bizarre thing to say and makes me very worried about the direction he and the club are going to go in this off season
-
Yes but only if he comes cheap and we’re unable to land another player/s who would otherwise take up our cap space
-
Very worried we’re going to burn pick 5 in a Tim Lamb special We HAVE to let Jason Taylor get to work at the top end of the draft this year - even better if we can trade a future first to get another first rounder this year Langford my number one pick, but Lalor not far behind
-
You’re right - but if I remember correctly that would have been pick 14 or 15 the next year Which coincidentally we got in the Jackson trade anyway thanks to Freo finishing just below us Trading future picks is fine when you’re in the window and finishing higher up the ladder, which we’ve done for the better part of four years now Having said that I reckon we need to keep our 2025 pick unless it somehow can net us a top 15 pick this year - no guarantees we’re not in for another rough year…
-
We ended up getting that pick back and drafting JVR anyway… the horror…
-
That’s true - but how often have we seen players traded for under their value in situations like this? I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure Ginnivan was contracted for another year and Hawks only paid a second round pick for him Based on that ANB plus a second rounder for Rachelle would be fair for a player whose output has been similar to this point in his career I take your point though, at the end of the day if they don’t want to trade him they won’t, but things can change quickly if a disgruntled player requests a trade
-
Don’t get me wrong I really rate him and I don’t think he’s a DH at all - more in the mould of some of the young players we’re seeing at Hawthorn I just don’t think Adelaide would have much ground to stand on in negotiations when they’re dropping him and senior players are calling him out in the media
-
100% yes but not for a future first - Adelaide can’t be demanding that sort of bounty for him when they’re dropping and bagging him in public
