TRADES, DELIST, PROMOTE
Thanks for the effort to give a detailed answer. I don't think it's a simple as you make out. You've just exited Viney to FA with that insulting 2 year contract offer. Why not just say "let him go to FA". Or maybe you don't realise that would be the undeniable outcome of that offer? We just gave 2 years to the other 3 - so where's the problem? What if any of the 1 year contact players get offered 2 elsewhere - will you match any or let them go? Every team needs some mature depth - we used 36 players this season. I think a mature depth player definitely earns his keep at around 6+ games per season. It will be interesting to see if any of those you've delisting achieve that at MFC or another club. Finally on past decisions - VDB would be playing for Sydney now if we didn't give him 3 years, Melky had a bad year but he's been a very good player and has a good chance to redeem himself - I'm not writing him off. ANB, Jetta - 1 year or 2 - it's not the sky falling. It's not a great year to have list vacancies anyway. I think if we're not making errors like KK then we're being too conservative - there will be mistakes if you take a sufficiently aggressive list management position. TMac was dominating in 2018 when he got the extension - 2020 Harry Hindsight - please link me to your post at the time that was against this.

Farewell Braydon Preuss
You can use it in a trade for an established player (my strong preference in this case - "trade in a player") or use it in the draft. There is a significant strategic difference.

Jared Polec
We probably don't want both Smith and Polec.

Farewell Braydon Preuss
I'd much prefer a player. I only want a draft pick if it helps us trade in a player.

I'll be moving on to discuss football with @Turner on this topic since you clearly have nothing to offer on the topic.

Wow, thin skinned. You've dodged the question in 5 posts now. Does your wife refer to you as "all talk, no action" too?

Isaac Smith
Yes I've never met hm so it's an unfair impression but he seems full of himself. I enjoyed his after the siren miss in the final against Geelong. The wink, the slice.

Look it's clear you can't actually back up your claim of greater list management expertise and need to resort to some diversion. All froth and no substance. Yes, I haven't answered your question and it's dangerous to try to imagine what "like that" means to a person "like you".

You're the one supposedly with the handle on it. Give me who will and won't make it.

You said you were a year ahead of our list managers. Now it's apparently two years. Time to put up ...

Farewell Oscar McDonald
I went to school and played under age football with a guy who was at least 1 or 2 levels better than anyone else in the team. He was about 10x better than me. He went to a successful VFL club and played 2 or 3 seasons in the U19s and Reserves before moving to a successful football career at a strong club in a rated regional league. I know how good he was and he couldn't make it at the top level. I never call AFL players spuds for that reason.

Trade Targets
I wouldn't guarantee that outcome at all. There's a lot of improvement in our relatively young midfield over the next few years. I'm not against making incremental change. I can see some value in trading Harmes for a player that suits our needs. I would be fine with moving Viney or Brayshaw if we could net Merrett. But I wouldn't do both. I think our current midfield has the potential to be flag quality.

Farewell Oscar McDonald
Oscar has had good games and some poor games for MFC. The problem is that in the role he plays his good games are often invisible - spoils, blocks, postioning and things he prevents his opponents from achieving, whereas when it goes wrong it results in maximum exposure - goals deep in the forward line. He doesn't deserve the vitriol he receives. Other players in other roles are far less exposed when they make errors. Think Zac Dawson - much maligned but Ross Lyon loved him.

2021
I do like the idea of a best 22 and a next 22, that gives some insight into the thinking process.
-
2021
To be honest I didn't bother looking at your teams. All CAPS is difficult to read and the content would need to be extra good to bother. If your aim is to communicate ideas you would be well served to use mixed case.

There's no way a KP like Petty takes a bench spot. KPs play a majority of gametime. Either he starts on field or doesn't play. You're wasting a running rotation with him on the bench.

Jack Viney Restricted Free Agent
I think there's one too many there, particularly with giving Sparrow 2 years and chasing wingers. Brayshaw or Harmes traded if Viney re-signs IMO.
-
Jack Viney Restricted Free Agent
I'm guessing the reason the contract hasn't been inked is because we are chasing other high cost player(s). The term and $s are likely agreed but the FD may want the flexibility of backloading if they can land the fish or forward loading if they can't.

There would be some weird logic if they did win it. I will have ended up in some very low probability branch of the wave function.
