Yes, and it wasn't for the whole year was it. It was all the 1st half of the season. For credibility it might be helpful to supply all the season. It would be interesting to then see if they improved as it might give a pointer to the attempt to correct the problems. It would be great if someone on here had access to the complete stuff rather than rely on the "little paper".

Any chance you can post a link /post the stats on here for the whole team?

Not sure what you're talking about there. I'm not biased or inventing things about you or Viney for that matter. I actually agree with you. It would be wonderful to see his and a number of others, disposal efficiency improve. Even without this I think he is in for a great year if his feet and fitness generally, hold up. If we take the recent MS game against Adelaide (I know it's a small sample size and only a pre season game) his SC score was 120, his average last year was 81. He kicked 2 points in that game and while some on here will use that to confirm their opinion, I'm more pleased that he has had a couple of shots on goal. He didn't get too many chances last year. "Hate his kicking inside 50" It's not really his go though is it? If we're relying on Viney's accuracy to win us games then I think the focus is in the wrong place. The other thing is; a lot of time Viney is under pressure when disposing by hand or foot. This reflected in most of the midfield disposal stats. Consider the table below (just so you know, I try and back up my opinion rather than inventing things) 2019 Melbourne Effective Disposals % Per Game Leaders (Minimum 5 Games Played) Rank Name Games Average 1 Neville Jetta 7 82.73 2 Jordan Lewis 12 77.74 3 Billy Stretch 9 76.92 4 Harrison Petty 10 76.60 5 Steven May 8 74.40 6 Jay Kennedy-Harris 5 74.12 7 Oscar McDonald 12 73.77 8 Christian Salem 20 73.03 9 Sam Frost 22 73.01 10 Kyle Dunkley 5 72.92 11 Jake Lever 8 72.64 12 Sam Weideman 11 72.54 13 Bayley Fritsch 22 72.21 14 Nathan Jones 22 71.17 15 Michael Hibberd 19 71.03 16 Jack Viney 21 70.79 17 Joshua Wagner 12 70.12 18 Jayden Hunt 21 69.83 19 Marty Hore 14 69.30 20 Jay Lockhart 12 68.92 21 Corey Wagner 11 68.89 22 Clayton Oliver 22 68.69 23 Christian Petracca 22 68.66 24 James Harmes 22 68.65 25 Charlie Spargo 8 67.73 26 Oskar Baker 9 67.71 27 Max Gawn 21 66.69 28 Angus Brayshaw 22 64.27 29 Mitchell Hannan 6 63.91 30 Alex Neal-Bullen 14 63.62 31 Tom McDonald 15 61.18 32 Braydon Preuss 7 59.07 33 Jake Melksham 12 56.85 34 Tim Smith 7 56.76 35 Jeff Garlett 7 54.48

I know you corrected yourself but you were pretty quick to be anti Viney. Shows a real bias or you just needed to invent something to support your opinion.

What they're saying down at Arden Street
dworship replied to Queanbeyan Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well, we just wouldn't know would we? It didn't happen, so you're just guessing, (admittedly based on your superior knowledge garnered through lots of game/practice watching). Seriously though, why make that particular comment? Can't I have a little positivity? I went and watched the game and I thought many of our players (that we have high hopes for), showed a bit. -
One of things I'm really excited about is the synergy/ bond that Kozzie and Bedford seem to have developed already. I think they are very supportive of each other. I can just see something special building in future years and see them causing havoc like Ryan and Rioli have done (well up till Rioli had a brain fade).

What can I say, I think I'll just indulge in a bit of schadenfreude -
Thanks KC that makes it clearer.

Just disappointed we don't meet them twice. Would really like to scar them, (hope I'm not getting too far ahead of ourselves).

Yes, but you cannot eliminate cognitive bias. It's why the umpires from the West should never number more than one, when umpiring in the West (preferably none at all). Likewise Christian should have never been appointed to the position he holds. The AFL needs to write a series of rules and guidelines (which they kind of have) and have a former Magistrate or similar that has no interest in football do the reviewing. The idea that the person doing the review needs to be a former AFL person is rubbish as they are not trained in slow thinking deliberative analysis. Christian will continually try and justify his bias with idiotic statements like the "inconvenienced" one as long as he remains in the position. To try and give some perspective/ understanding of what I'm saying, take the following as an example; I'm involved in a car accident where a driver has driven through a stop sign and struck my vehicle but my vehicle is still drive-able, so I haven't been inconvenienced on my journey. The Christian approach would say the perpetrator of the accident hasn't really done anything wrong (because the other driver wasn't inconvenienced) but the damage needs to be payed for. If my vehicle is a Jaguar and I'm dressed in overalls and wearing a reflective vest the penalty will be set much lower than if I was wearing a suit and tie. The above approach really neglects the fact a law was broken, and by extension ignores the reason it was written (to discourage harm). Gee that was long-winded and made my head hurt, I better go have a lie down. Really hope I didn't come across as self-righteous.
-
At some stage I hope Christian gets questioned by someone that really knows how to put the spotlight on the fuzzy logic he uses. "Mr Christian please explain your definition of a player who is or isn't inconvenienced when being struck on the jaw via illegal contact. In particular would you find a player to have been inconvenienced if they fell to their knees and retched up blood or would they need to spit out teeth? "

You are a kindred spirit Mr Skuit, I'm constantly working on my sincerity.

Yes and you did, so how did you not see Viney starting to smile as they cut away?

G'day Andy, the chat link isn't working for me. TuneIn is working so I can listen in. -
Hence the comment about you implying something.

There are a number of teams and Ruckmen who have tried that and 90% of the time it hasn't worked and it just makes Maxy try harder if that's possible. The tactic of jumping into him at every opportunity has been done and at times I think it has had some success. The umpires are very important in stopping this but they don't crackdown on it enough. During one game last year (can't remember which one) Max was taking a beating and the coaches sent Max for a rest in the forward line. It was a game Preuss played in and he started jumping into the opposition ruckman and I think gave away a free kick or two. The tactic stopped. The point is; he is the Captain now and he will lead but the troops and the coaches need to do their part in protecting him.

I wonder how many times you've used that before? Usually ........ people don't go in for "implied" do they?
-
Yep and Mrs Worship
-
I understood you liked it, me too!
-
Well that would be 15 players including Oliver and Weid. You did say mostly. So that does leave some interesting selections.
-
G'day DS, don't necessarily disagree with your team. Just after an opinion around continuing to build the connection between the likely 1st rounders and also working on some of the deficiencies. Perhaps a squad of 28 and limit the time played by those you have suggested sit out. Perhaps even 2 teams by halves. The likely 22 in the first half?

Unless something has changed recently, it's like Gosch's anyone can just walk up to the oval boundary fence. Take a look on street view.

Owh, Illeism, this is a form of self promotion and you don't want to go down that path do you?
