Champion Data Rankings 2020
Didn't you know stats don't lie. Interpreting them, that's another matter, using them to predict the future? Well that's a bit of black magic. In a past life I got talking to a statistician in the "bull-ring' (the Courtyard in the Old Magistrates Court in Melbourne). He had been called as an expert witness in a case and we were discussing the likelihood of something occurring. During proceedings he had been asked the chances of something occurring and he gave evidence that what had occurred was a once in 10000yr event (from his statistical modeling). I asked what happens now? (Thinking we were safe for however much of the 10000yrs were left). He told me no, the clock resets and we start a new 10000yrs because we had an event. My follow up question? What's the likelihood of the same thing happening in the next few years? He replied, "well that would be within the 10000yrs"

Petracca’s Shock Transformation
Agreed. What we're just seeing is the darren burgess effect. Petracca should have looked this way seasons ago. I seem to be saying this a lot lately, WTF. I'm starting to think someone has been a bit free with the crack pipe and my favorite martian may have multiple personalities (and maybe a persona we have seen in the past).

vandenBerg Update?
Uum, as I interpreted the information; I think he stubbed his big toe. Now that could be a career ending injury or not. Guessing and invoking the syndrome is a pointless practice. But what the hell, go ahead, we all need someone to ............ (please insert appropriate adjective)

TRAINING: Monday 10th February 2020
Thanks Bob, wish I'd been there, great report as usual. Honourable mention to Saty. Regarding Smith; perhaps it was the foot he cut open at the beach and they just don't want any impact on it? Hope so anyway.

The Breaking of Nathan Jones
What else has been mentioned by coach and player during last season was the roles Jones was being given. If Jones was fulfilling those, then coach and player would be comfortable. We don't know the conversations that were had. Jones will get games this year and will be given roles to carry out by the coach's. They may end up only being cameos but if they add value he may well get more time than people believe. When Crawford finally got his GF medal it wasn't just on sentiment it was playing a role. If memory serves, he didn't play every game that year, even when fit (think it was a little over half). If Jones is managed correctly and we get to the finals he will find something within himself and the coach will know that. I couldn't think of anything more fitting.

AFLW: Round 1 vs North Melbourne
Aah another Captain obvious, isn't that what I just said. Do try to have an original thought occasionally, you never know where it might lead. Perhaps you were skimming and just decided to get a few laughs in. McQueens comment was "If you insert the letter ‘U’ into AFLW you know what you get." Now you tell me what did he mean by that? Go try and insert "U" in the acronym and perhaps you can spell it out and ask yourself whether that's what you would like said about a daughter or grand daughter undertaking something that they love and enjoy. If your struggling I'm happy to suggest some words starting with "U" Now that's a self-righteous rant, just so you can tell the difference.

AFLW: Round 1 vs North Melbourne
Thanks Hardtack, I had gone quiet on the matter while I considered whether I was being overly self-righteous. I never had an issue with McQueen's opinion as such. I just thought the way it was conveyed was disrespectful of women and young girls participating in something they obviously love. McQueen has decided to stand by that and I still think it was unnecessary. Says a lot about his character.

Oh, slinking off now.

AFLW: Round 1 vs North Melbourne
Hey, I didn't write that definition, it's in the Urban Dictionary. Now if I was self righteous, I would have said and there was a picture of "McQueen" (not the real one though)

AFLW: Round 1 vs North Melbourne
If you're comparing it with the elite AFL men's sides then you will always be disappointed. But I do like the competition they show and their desire to get the ball. But that's not why I asked if your comment was necessary. What you posted with a capital "U" was derogatory and distasteful. Nana had it right when she said "If you don't have anything nice to say then it's best to say nothing at all" I'm sure you would have thought her some Left leaning loony member of the PC Brigade. But I think the following definition of the term is more in keeping with you. PC Brigade (Noun) (Abbr. Political Correctness Brigade) (Chiefly British) A smug, knee-jerk, ill-defined catch-all word that is overused by closet racists, sexists, homophobes and bigots to describe anyone who dares to challenge their hate speech with the values of respect and common human decency.
