Also Merry Xmas to anyone not on the site too… who those are I wouldn’t know so i will leave it to @Gatekeeperto send them Xmas wishes and let them know they are cared for in this community.
This time of year is difficult for a number of people but also an opportunity to recharge and recover, and to rethink things. Whatever it is for you - I hope you have that in mind with your encounters the next couple of weeks.
Stay safe Demonlanders

It was utterly bizarre when we were planning on doing it, a clumsy situation when we tried it, a confusing mess when we abandoned it for worse options, and an apathetic catharsis when we moved him on for about what we paid for him.
If failures can be measured in wasted time and effort - this was a failure.

Yes, yes. I’m tired ok. I’m mixing my kids names up with the cats, it’s a thing.

Hang on, so a thread in the ‘Melbourne Demons’ board on a WCE player is fine but a thread on the Melbourne Demons women’s team is moved from this thread and consigned to a board no one reads?
Doesn't make sense to me.

Can we put a pin in the ‘our culture can’t be too bad - we only lost by 9 points total in finals’?
Its as stupid and irrelevant as those that equate giving away 50s and frees to having a bad culture.
We have some challenges to overcome amongst the expectations on and of our playing group. And we are also a very talented list that had no effing idea how to deliver to the advantage of those ahead of them.

If we miss the 8, I will bite the bullet and teach everyone on here how to correctly use an ellipsis…

That ain’t it.

Yes, as Shakespeare said ‘it’s better to have loved and lost, and then get the bag [censored]! PEACE’
They just don’t write like that anymore…

Out of spite we went into a final one man down.
Massive coaching problems still need to be healed.
Not happening any time soon.
The latest in ‘Things that didn’t happen’…
Honestly, there is plenty evidence that we need to evolve - no one needs to make up [censored] like that.

So we spun Jackson and our own first and second round picks into Jefferson, Windsor and Tholstrup.
Time will tell whether Jackson, ND14 and ND35 was worth those three but from where we were - to get a top 7 pick and an obvious Taylor target in KT we can uncoil at least.
Will bump the thread in 2028.

I don’t think 54 is a lot in 13 years. Also how many were really wanted by their club?
Boyd, JHF, Jackson, Lever…

I would like another forward who can play mid, rather than mids playing half forward like we do.
This. It’s pervasive and I think we are done with it.

Bailey from the Lions is the perfect example of the sort of player and role that the Colt could fill for us.
High half forward who can get up and down the ground, hits targets, wins his own ball, can kick goals and when required can also go into the middle.
The alternative is players like Sparrow and Jordon who can play as pure mids when required (eg to give our starting mids a chop out) but don't look natural forwards when resting at half forward flank.
I would suggest the alternatives are the Spargo and ANB types that can be effective in a specific role but are not forwards, have little forward craft or nous, and are just not dangerous in advanced positions.
Resting mids are one thing but @drdrakeis alluding to a bigger issue that has reared it head the last two years where we have relied on too few to take advantage of too many I50s and we just didn’t have the cattle to connect and convert those opportunities. We can now only have ANB in the forward line who isn’t a natural forward and that is a far healthier place to be.

Im with @deanox - where are these BS rules written?
‘the rookie stream’?? Never heard of it before and I have read the previous two EBAs front to back so I would read these governance docs. Love ToR and standards and process maps…
BECAUSE GOVERNANCE IS IMPORTANT

Yeah no biting, it's a good question.
You can only have as many picks as list spots.
We finished 6th for draft purposes so have available:
- Pick 6 (traded in from Freo)
- Pick 14 (first round)
- Pick 36 (second round, traded out to GC)
- Pick 42 (second round, JJ compensation)
- Pick 57 (third round, traded out last year)
- Pick 75 (4th round, traded out to WB last year)
- Pick 93 (5th round)
Bold are picks we still have.
Technically we have up to 4 primary list spots available now, because we are allowed to have 36-38 primary list players, with the number of rookies reducing for each list spot of 36 we use.
Only picks that can be used on a primary list spot can be taken into the draft for the purpose of points. I.e. you can't stockpile 8 X 2nd round picks for lots of points if you only have a potential for 3 lost spots.
Also pick 73 is worth 9 points, and any pick 74 onwards is worth 0 points. So after pick 42, we have no more points.
Two things; you can go into deficit, and ND93 won’t be that high. Only around 65 kids will taken.

You’re right. I got a little confused.
It kinda doesn’t matter who wins out of Brisbane and Adelaide, we’re gonna have to beat one, if not both, to win the big one.
Of course, should we make the GF, the best scenario would be we play whomever at Ikon. If not at Ikon, out of Springfield and Norwood, I’d hope for the ground at which the players feel most confident.
If we want a home final then Adelaide has to be beaten this weekend or in the prelim.
The Lions winning this week and us getting the job done against NM and then Adel at Ikon would be best.
