A toast to the downfall of Mordor; may it come in our lifetime and for long enough to enjoy.
  2. Give Alan Richardson Publishing access to the website and he can update the page on the can FCS. Its amazing how a little thing is so meaningful. Do the basics right and all that.
  3. that last line …
  4. Oh and of course I hope there was a fair and open election for these positions. Doesn’t say anything on the website… The Demon Hawk and his 12 mates won’t like that. Not one bit. They all about that ‘gooooood governance’ - they can sniff that [censored] all day long…
  5. So impressive that these two will have such amazing careers after both had to go through the [censored] and also had injury issues to overcome.

If CP5 dominates a September like he did in 2021, it would be hard to look past. Especially, and please take this the right way Lever-ites; from a barking defender who rarely has an opponent. Cue Neil Degrasse Tyson meme… Gawn is more Petracca than Lever and I think CP5 would be great, arrogant, flighty fun and this club needs that.
  7. Well, I am woke and I was one of the first Death Riders… I think it’s fine. And I can come up with worse too…
  8. Hate to be critical of your post, I just think it’s critical to point out that sports commentary is at a critical point with its critique.
  9. Not entirely sure what this means but Nudge - where were you in trade week?
  10. ‘Pretty critical role’ = playing on a wing. At this point; if all roles are critical, none are.

    CP5
  12. Every year we do this. The training house is always destroyed. Good thing we don’t have a dedicated home base yet…
  13. I didn’t say speak, their very presence would have said to me “we don’t think this is enough for anyone to care, so here are some AFL players in attendance that will provide worth to this retirement”. The women can handle it.
  14. Mate, to think that Gawn and Goodwin need to be there is to diminish the roles their counterparts play in the club. Pearce and Stinear are handling it because that’s what would happen if the roles were reversed. You are tacitly saying that only the men’s team can prove the women’s teams worth by their presence and that mindset has to die a quick death. Kate Hore doesn’t need anyone standing astride her for her to be a great player and leader of our club into the future. I think you need to alter your perspective.
  15. Go to any media outlet praising her on FB or Twitter. Or don’t, save yourself the outrage, it’s what they want.
  16. It’s just being revealed more, and the more toxic ‘take’ hits the algorithm and gets amplified. Its always been there. The only silver lining is I hope those that have mildly misogynistic, racist, and anti-gay views see the toxicity they are standing in front of and turn around and step back.
  17. Without sounding like a Social Justice Warrior or being too ‘Woke’ - go and look at some of the passive aggressive, to outright toxic, comments on social media on Daisy’s retirement. Read through that and tell me that a bloke would get the same treatment.
  18. What an immense character she was to help drive the women’s game forward. She went out as she will be remembered - a winner and a leader. My favourite story is the one where she reportedly told the fledgling AFLW that if she wasn’t at Melbourne she would not play. That may be a myth but it will stay with me. Personally, I hope she is with Geelong for a few years and then on the AFL coaching staff at Melbourne in a key role ahead of a more substantial and historic role in the game.
  19. I think she has the opportunity to build into a career that is at AFL level. That isn’t a diminishment of the women’s game, in fact it’s an affirmation of it.
  20. 12 years in charge is a long time. I don’t think that timeframe is too far out from reality.
  21. WHAT?!
  22. Contracts are contracts. He owes the club nothing other than fulfilment of his contract. The game is brutal and expecting players to do what a club would not - is naive and unfair to someone who literally helped win us a flag not 16 months ago.
  23. He does seem a great bloke. And I hold out hope he gets back to form - he is literally the best tall fwd we have right now. But can we not live in a fantasy land that expects good people to walk away from a contract for the ‘good of the club?’ I find it naive and mean spirited.
  24. He will leave $500k on the table? When we are at the top of the ladder? Wouldn’t bet on it even if he is crocked in 2023.
