  1. I don’t think we set the world on fire in the first two and a half months either in second halves. We played some bad teams and mostly only played a good quarter. Some of them we won on reputation before the game started.
  2. We just weren’t aggressive enough and we sat back after getting those leads and lent on our flooding Demon Web and our back 6. Think about how many times in win steak it would be one qtr of dominance and 3 qtrs of meh.
  3. This is Chaplin’s defensive scheme: the Demon Web. Goodwin is a players coach. Now they can change tactics and go with the wind there BUT they stick to players for years past their ‘use by’ date because the economy isn’t built around performance, it’s built around commitment and that can also be a problem that needs to managed and reigned in.
  4. We have always got back into the 1st round so this isn’t a ‘selling our future’ problem. Also, we are in ‘win this decade’ mode so yeah it’s fine.
  5. Well, one of the benefits for all this pain is do think it builds empathy as you imply and educate posters who don’t really follow footy closely, only the Demons. When we were [censored] all we needed was a coach and a list to compete but the nuances build up when you are a flag chance every year; form, injuries, playing style, et al. They all play a part and they can all bring you back down to earth…
  6. Entitlement? Some are frustrated at the ‘tutt-tutting’ and the (perhaps entitled) palmed heads they endured when the raised their concerns on here. And it’s only as astounding as the occasional victory laps from the palmed head crowd after the Brisbane wins, now after the Brisbane loss…
  7. Our best players weren’t healthy. Your larger point is correct though IMO, we actively avoided using our squad in favour of players limping with tape supporting their knees…
  8. Oh absolutely, which is why I am wondering where all those that said ‘she’ll be right’ are to argue that point. Or don’t, it doesn’t matter in the end.
  9. Where are the FD/Goodwin Truthers? I mean that lovingly… Coz I have nothing other than ‘yes he should keep his job sheesh’ after last night.’ Defend your people! Dispute my lying eyes! C’mon!
  10. He is a gun. But jeez he needs work on his marking form.
  11. Didn’t sound like those percentages, Mr say what…
  12. The measure of the club will be to respond and go top 4 next year.
  13. We’re all upset. And as someone who has been raising the alarm since even before the end of the winning streak, through the ‘loading malaise is a red herring’ months, and into the ‘we are struggling to move the footy’ month leading into finals; I can understand your frustration. We are not what we were and a lot on here didn’t want to hear it. That’s the way it goes sometimes. They’ll be better for the run, and be more understanding posters next year I reckon.
  14. That may be. But our role for him and how we moved the footy was the skillet on which he spent his days at the Dees.
  15. What do you want us to do? Round them up and smack their bottoms for every face palm of a post that noted how our pressure compared to last year was through the floor and I am on board… @1964_2 Get. My. Paddle.
  16. I would love to see Brown’s last year (surely he won’t make it to the end of his contract with that knee) to be an actual lead up forward. That we allow him space in front of him and ball coming toward him in the 50. Instead of our slow, avoid dangerous spot, emptied out forward line where everyone defends in the web. Make some adjustments and we might see it…
  17. I’m barely bleeding, his hearts not in it.
  18. That’s ok. Yeah, head coach of Casey is real excited.
  19. If it makes you feel better, those DID NOT SEE THIS COMING lol. So we are advanced in our stages of grief. Me, I am at bargaining, just said to the cat that I will get him more biscuits if he clawed my eyes out.
  20. 1. Ball Movement Coach installed. Transition game awful atm. 2. Forward pressure game reinstated. No excuses. 3. Use squad and not injured ‘best 22’ players. 4. Play forwards in forward line. If they can chop out mids great, otherwise bye-bye to the bench mids. 5. Get our stars right. They were slowing down at the end of the year. CP5 had an impact injury late of course but he, Salem, May, Petty, Lever, and Kozzie make up 6 of our best 10 players and they were playing injured this year at various times. What’s the point if this is the result. 6. Small r Review of the High Performance performance. Has to be done. Even if it is to confirm our injuries and struggles. 7. Just keep going. Best thing to do when going through hell.
  21. It’s never there, they are always up the ground. Collingwoods forwards stay deep for a lot longer than ours do. We are always running with the ball carrier. It’s not sustainable as we found out.
  22. 70 point second half. When we talk about how bad our ‘defence’ is that doesn’t mean the back 6 - the whole team starting with the lack of forward pressure is to blame. Oliver had one uncontested possession in the 2nd half. He needed help with Berry but he was beaten badly. ANB tried to save his career but I feel just exemplified that we need a forward line, not a bunch of fit robots that do jobs. Sparrow, Harmes, ANB, and little Charlie is that because he can’t find the footy… Feel for Melksham who is probably done after that. Hibberd too. Addition to the coaching staff would be a Ball Movement coach that can get us kicking to a forward line coming at them. One thing I will say is that we can’t deviate from what we have built, the changes needed are only adjustments. Some are large adjustments but we had a long campaign, half our best 10 players had injuries, they weren’t managed well to perform when it matters and that happens, so we can bounce back. Make no mistake though - absolute embarrassment to go out in straight sets against the Lions.
  23. Half then? Not to be flippant but I don’t see the point in running away from our MCC support.
  24. Well they do make up a fraction. And that’s not just a maths jibe, the MCC is sometimes 3 qtrs of the Dees fans at a game during the year.
  25. On a serious note, they should not have brought in Fullerton and stayed small. That was their chance to get behind us with Cameron letting loose.
