  1. I will push back slightly on the hindsight proviso to make such comment but I agree there are no easy decisions when it comes to playing your best players when they are injured. We either play through and possibly lose and be banged up or we rest en masse and get beaten and be fresh to finish 9th (I would have strategically rested a couple in the middle of the season but that is neither here nor there). But I was more defending Lever in that, with the midst of having so many of our better players pushing through injury, Lever’s in particular looked hard to play through. And he often looked like he couldn’t push off his right foot and that would impact his form and ability to compete. I thought it was deeper than the fasciitis and the plantarus muscle? I am no expert but I had this a couple seasons back and it made it hard to walk after a game, painful during a game and then I took a month off because of that uncomfortableness. This is just a long way of saying that people shouldn’t criticise Jake for 2022. Just one of those things.
  2. It is funny, but don’t hex it. It supposed to end with him having an ironclad contract with St Kilda that he gets the balance of one year in after he’s fired for attending burning man and being filmed snorting Wizz Fizz with Wayne Carey…
  3. Yeah, he ain’t great but role players need environment and an achievable role. It is the literal difference between ANB 2021 and, well, ANB any other year. Or, and here is a controversial take - the difference between Stengle 2022 and ‘just another FP’.
  4. I’m always excited to see the little @Demonlandfigure next to a thread because I know that the boss has linked to a relevant news story or revelation. Hows that for pandering. #cantbebannednow
  5. I will admit I am not up with the ‘youth’ but is that a Black & Decker measuring tape in his left hand? DIY fan, self starter, good signs, let’s get him.
  6. Because Melbourne should get it in the neck to get this done for all parties. It is our place.
  7. And he was played through injury in 2022. What I saw as painful plantarus issues that looked very painful. Don’t know if @Webbersaw him take his boot off at HT in the middle of the year. He played through that but it is painful to play through.
  8. Heard it on either AFL exchange or Sportsday podcast as ‘insiders say.’ odd that it hasn’t been confirmed
  9. Yes, and a dream is a wish your heart makes. Yesterday was a nightmare. Don’t even think it people - you will manifest it…
  10. No apparently some poor souls want a repeat of yesterday.
  11. Cap increases by about $600k next year. Pies have few players in their prime. Grundy money goes a long way. So glad we can do them a favour.
  12. well put, and also, some teams cap space is more valuable than others if, let’s say, they have 4 players they want to bring in hinging on getting $700k off the books quickly.
  13. Ok so they made the right decision not playing him in the SF. Can you imagine if he had one kick? ’People said he was good, we got nothing in the cupboard, life sux, grumble grumble fart!!!’
  14. I am objective as they come o_d, but I am never going to pontificate on any prognostication relating to the glorification of the evil that lives in Mordor (Geelong). Happy trails friend.
  15. Pretty happy with my contribution. The streamed consciousness from a few here in the first few pages is, ah, facepalm inducing…
  16. You know it doesn’t work like that. But if people want to waste their summers thinking we were ‘only a forward pocket away’ go for it.
  17. He stealing goals off Kozzie and Fritsch. He is a role player and would have suffered the same fate knowing how we delivered the ball into the pocket. To think that our fortunes would have been changed by a couple of forward pockets is folly.
  18. I don’t disagree but we risked Salem, Lever, Gawn, Brown and Jackson (at least) in games when they could have had longer lay offs during the middle of the year that may (emphasis on may) have meant a better September. Gawn had syndesmosis and was back in 2 weeks for example. We were losing anyway… These are but lessons for our future.
  19. That’s not going to be much. Our stars were banged up and we limped to the finish. Swap those players and it doesn’t change the result.
  20. He is on $100k more than the average player. You can’t have that currency sitting at Casey. These are facts, we can’t go around and around disputing the truth. It’s infuriating.
