Don’t you dare start a Moneyball conversation
-
My word you provide some excitable nonsense; he played 20 games and kicked 48 goals in 2021 and was staring us in the face before he got injured and made it easier for us to control Naughton.

I would agree but saying to Petty - you are now our swing man allows a summer for him to work with the forwards and build some forward craft and learn some basics. That would allow us another option forward knowing he can excel back.
-
Same. Not many, but certainly a couple.
-
So … wait… you want a compensation that doesn’t compete with what we are being offered because the deal we are being offered is not what we want? Thats like cutting off our nose despite our face and then asking if we can replace the nose with a root vegetable.
-
Why don’t you take your own advice when it comes to Brown? Also he kicked 3 in a flag winning side for your club. Think of what a player can do rather than what they can’t. Saw that on a bathroom wall somewhere…
-
We would have to agree to that too. And the AFL. It’s not say straightforward as you imply.

I may owe GNF an apology…

Where has it been said the Pies will front load their contribution?

@Lord Nevget your OneNote out!

From what Lamb has said - we are keen on replacing the elite talent we have lost. Unlike the last few years, where we have brought forward our high end picks and brought forward our rebuild - we may have to delay for a year and get something at the pointy end next year. Petty having a summer and the first few months forward into 2023 might be a really good way to bridge that gap and allow TMac and Brown to ease into possibly their last year of value and also provide support to JVR. With Gawn there this becomes even more of an option. Then we reassess and look again for tall forward talent next summer. Probably through trade for a Jon Snow (King in the North!) or possibly a kid from the draft.

The points are used to attach value for F/S and Academy players. It is used to liberally in trade deals; we have said we will only have two live selections and other clubs have intimated similar so those ‘points’ on later picks immediately lose all value to some clubs. Oh and in no way do 3 picks from 30 onwards ‘equal’ a top 15 pick. So smack your face or hit your head with your keyboard if you have intimated that…

We just can’t think like this. You don’t want to spend whatever small amount of capital on the wrong player. Gawn with Grundy fundamentally changes our forward line; I don’t know for better or worse but maybe it means medium talls are better for us in the next 3 years? Maybe we can afford to keep players in our forward line and have them lead at the ball? It’s hard to say but TMac and Brown buy us some time to get this decision right. Because I want to be great for a decade or more - not just next year.

Nearly there. He will go into the Pre-Season Draft where WCE will take him at PSD2. We can play chicken if we want to but are we really going to say no to ND13 and ND14~ just to make a point? I doubt it.

You think we should bring in players to fill gaps and weaknesses? I thought we were here to [censored] spiders. Now I am very confused. As are the spiders who got all dressed up

He is in the sights because of his wage not because ‘he is down the order’; we can’t have $500k playing at Casey. He did his ACL last year and was great as a gorilla tamer. He can do that again for us if they want to play Petty forward. Or they can back Turner and save his wage, but I still think he can play a role at AFL level in a good team in the backline.

If Harrison Petty wasn’t at the club, Tommo would be a fine tall back to free up Lever.

Lovely stuff once more in this thread. Good to see Lord got his OneNote out again to ‘copy/paste’… What wonders must be in that One Note? WYL’s would run the gamet - it would be quite the manifesto.

And hope Freo crater

There is a great documentary series on Disney + called Fearless about the AFLW Season 2022 A. In the 3rd ep I think they go through this with the GWS girls. She has this desire to wear the normal jumper instead of the pride jumper and the AFLW says no, we want all our players representing support for the LGBTQIA community. So she sat out and tried to be respectful to the other girls in her team. It looked pretty tough for all concerned. It certainly wasn’t a leader of a church, that doesn’t trust women and doesn’t think gays should exist, suddenly leading an organisation and being asked that you can’t lead this club and lead and represent that church. The straw man argument du jour seems to be ‘what if a Muslim was a CEO’ and my response would be; is he/she a leader of a mosque? What are the views of that mosque? And lastly, why hasn’t a Muslim been a CEO? Probably because of the Boys Club saying that “their views don’t align with mainstream footy people or the community”…
