  1. We all have differing views, I see it as a dilution of the captains authority, and I see it as his responsibility. I have felt this as captain, as a member of a LG, and as just another player.
  2. Yeah, I took a 20 year old Demon at face value. I have no idea what that has to do with Aaron Davey, nor what possible relevance it has to lacking substance... Mighty strong words from a relative newbie... Have we met before?
  3. Yes, because that is obviously the choice Neeld was making. Grunt > Long accurate kicking or good ball carry

I think the answer to both questions is yes. He inadvertently brought the disaster and we had to have it as it brought a release to the boiling pot. Then we swiftly took it off the hot plate and put half in the sink... One thing - don't go to the player mid-week with out a coach or coaches unless those coaches are the issue. I couldn't think of anything worse for the preparation of a team, especially one led so poorly, than to talk to the board about grievances days before a match.
  5. Excellent sentiment from an 'unabashed fan.'
  6. Yes, yes, ra, ra, ra. I am talking about a specific role usually played by the captain. Why? Because it is dilution of their authority if they are not doing it. Of course, Brent will continue to lead on the field, as if that was my argument... I am saying that the last person to gather the soldiers together and give them direction should be the people the club has decided are the best people to gather the soldiers together and give them direction.
  7. Something that has dominated my thinking since the announcement is the role Brent Moloney takes on gameday. We all see him revving up the players and talking to them in the huddle before games and at every break. I mentioned earlier in the year that Moloney should not take these talks in lieu of Brad Green. Now with a 20 year old and a 22 year old in charge I am debating in my head the merits of taking what is usually the domain of a captain and giving it to someone who isn't even in the Leadership Group. I am still of the belief that this is important to how a captain is seen and recieved on the field and I would like someone at the club to tell Brent to let his captains have this duty. Thoughts?
  8. It doesn't look good, but I was challenging the idea that we should 'cut our losses' (paraphrasing) rather than the idea he has a challenge ahead of him. He can do it, we want him to do it, now it is up to him.
  9. Perhaps that's why the LG is dominated by those who don't take a backward step, don't excessively fingerpoint, and have fantastic body language. Batram, Frawley, Garland, Jones, and Jamar would exhibit the best of those traits I would say. Didn't follow Clark closely enough to assess his demeanour on field. From some reports he was a brat in Brisbane, from other reports he was a aggressive upstart. We will see.
  10. It's actually quite brillant on behalf of Channel 7 as they would be worried about lessening the value for money their advertisers receive with Foxtel screening the games that Channel 7 have on delay. This way, those ads will be seen whether or not you are watching Channel 7.
  11. Agree with DC. What you would be watching/listening to would be Cometti waxing lyrical with the make-up girl... This isn't the VFL - we will not be allowed to listen to the qtr time address or anything like that.
  12. If Grimes has his usual 'OMG he has broken what bone?" injury, Trengove may find himself "The Captain" for a few games. I'm sure he will handle it fine.
  13. How is that? Save for a pathetically disappointing 2011 he has been a very consistent performer in one of the worst teams in recent memory, in one of the worst midfields in 'old growth forest' memory. Nearly 900 touches, over 160 tackles, 16 brownlow votes, and a Bluey in the previous two years to 2011 tells me that he has served this footy club quite well and I wouldn't put it past him to recapture that form. Whatever his issues today, he is an incredibly skilled player who worked his arse off to move from a damaging small forward into a very good midfielder. You don't just dismiss what he has done after one poor season.
  14. Does anyone else hate the term "break out game" or "break out year"? Can't one be consistent? Does one have to kick 4 in a final to beat Carlton in an amazing come-from-behind win to cap a stellar rookie season? Because what happens once a player does that? Do they go on to deliver on that promise? Do they become the star that the fans have been literally crying out for? Evidence says no.
  15. Like surfing too much, but.
  16. He is probably a very disappointed young man but I hope he realises that Neeld istrying to bring the U/24s on because those older can't shoulder the burden. And if they do 'come on,' they might take Brent for one hell of a ride.
  17. Yeah, but it doesn't mean he is not on to something. But I think the training reports on here, as slanted as they can be, have definitely been less than glowing of Davey so it isn't like this is news to us.
  18. What if you can't get that trade? I am all for spending the next trade week trying to offload these picks, but if we can't get a decent trade for them then we have to use them as they were intended.
  19. Well, he is in the midfield. Good luck to him, if two of Magner, Couch, and Bate can become regulars in our midfield we will be a lot more imposing in the middle.
  20. If that happens then it just legitimises the decision.
  21. Except for their own flaws... Yeah, it is. But there is an argument to say that if you get rid of one, you have to get rid of all. All for one, blame for all.
  22. Amen to that. I'm on a high of schadenfreude I must admit...
  23. Well, it's better than last year when we had one bald chief, one injured chief, and 44 Indians against the cavalry...
  24. Thanks for that. Did anyone else think that Deevoted wrote that training report like it was lyrics? It's the first time Bob Dylan has ever sung about our kick out plan...
