  1. I just can't believe that someone, knowingly, wrote nonsense on Twitter. It has to be true.
  2. That post just says they should make the rules clearer. As for earlier, I was just pointing out that if Bate or Dunn go nuts and have a blinder we have an issue and we might not be able to keep all our wanted FAs.
  3. Yeah, I shouldn't have said 'played.' It's as soon as you arrive at a club.
  4. Then there is this... http://www.theage.co...0222-1toc7.html Should be hard and fast: If you have played 8 years at a club - you're a RFA, if you have played ten years - you're an UFA.
  5. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16100-what-is-the-essence-of-a-football-clubs-existence/page__pid__252374#entry252374 If you guys are keen for a semantical argument about 'existence' and 'sole/primary'...
  6. Funny you should say this, as it is exactly what I wanted you to say. We had a huge thread on Land a couple years ago about whether or not "nothing else matters but winning a flag." Apparently, to some people the club exists to exist, and not to win flags so I am happy with my statement of the not-so-obvious.
  7. You would keep Dunn? Bate is also an UFA at the end of the year.
  8. Could be worse. Could be Oceanic Airlines...
  9. Quick, someone call the Demon Shop. They would know...
  10. Here is a list, it isn't definitive but it's good enough. http://www.heraldsun...f-1226278832964 2 things to remember: we don't know exactly who is being paid in the highest quartile, and Brent Moloney is up for Restricted FA not Unrestricted as the article implies when referencing Jamar and Moloney. Who do we let go? We will get a draft pick whereas if they go into the draft we will not. Who do we go after? rpfc says Sewell. Discuss.
  11. Does it 'go without saying?' Many have disagreed with the sentiment. And they are all gems, BH...
  12. And some on here remind me of the Freo recruiters who snared Mitch Clark... In this 'poker game' everyone knows your hand, so that would make it difficult to bluff... If we have to pull the trigger on the second pick for the right player I wouldn't hesitate. We're trying to win a flag here.
  13. Turning up late to your job is a great way of getting your coach offside... Let's not forget who is the dog and who is the tail.
  14. Thanks for letting us know. We appreciate it. On a side note, it is tempting to note that while knee recos are difficult to come back from, the career of Gawn would probably best be likened to the one that this thread is named after. Jamar didn't play regularly until his 5th year when he was understudy to White (22 games). He showed little, and showed even less the next year in an injury and form riddled year (10 games). He then doubled his hitouts the following year and showed a little before injury came calling again (14 games). He continued his improvement in his 8th year but was brought down by a foot stress frature and quad issues (7 games). In his 9th year he was AA (22 games). In his tenth year he did his PCL (15 games). Take this story as you wish. What I take from it is: Gawn doesn't have to be a consistent back-up until 2014 and he has until 2017 to be a consistent number one ruck. He has plenty of time...
  15. Not a big fan of reality TV. Aside from sport that is. It's funny, sport gives people the best stories (Jeremy Lin, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, HWFUA, Ponting, CP3, etc) and we are making up new ones with cooking competitions and weight loss competitions... I guess the latter was required due to the former...
  16. I thought we were all still angry about 186? I want full committment from these 'never-do-wells' and I don't care who you are. I want improvement from every one and higher standards for all. Until I see some actual Demons running around and playing with heart it's schadenfreude for me everytime a MFC player is punished or whipped on the track.
  17. I wrote a slightly incongruous sentence I'll admit but if Gaff is not a proven player than what are Picks 10 and 13? I am happy to take those picks but I know that the A-grade 'prospects' will be gone by then. If Shuey or Gaff want to come home we may have to give both picks to trump another suitor, especially if that suitor is an Ess, or Coll, or Carl. The fact remains that we didn't trade Pick 2 for Picks 8 and 9 when PA offered and with good reason. Those picks have worked out for PA but the fact remains that the top 5 picks are high up the J-curve and it falls away quickly after that.
  18. He would be our priority FA so that is good.
  19. Just go with it. PPs before the draft. They are first.
  20. "Fantastic" players at Picks 10 and 13? That's some draft... They are also a chance to be good players, or average players. I would trade them both if it meant securing a potential star talent and known commodity.
  21. You think wrong. PPs come (came) before the first round.
  22. I think it is the reference to his s'pposed inabilitity to be captain that people don't like...
  23. Martin Flanagan called McKenzie a "rich mans" Mitch Robinson and that is how you will refer to him.
  24. Ok, so there will be a formula but we won't know what is involved exactly nor how they are weighted? That means that the PPs, for all intents and purposes, are at the discretion of the Commission. It's progress but not as much as I thought... Make the formula public and introduce a lottery system for all teams outside the eight. Problem solved.
  25. I call shenanigans.
