Read through the thread, I'm not a parrot and I'm not in the mood to repeat myself over and over again. You're capable of scrolling and reading my responses to the numerous times I've been asked that.
-
Just wondering, who in the club have you spoken to about this? Because personally I've spoken to many, including Pert. So I'm just wondering what other information are you relying on other than the media's, because it seems to me you take far too much from them at face value.
-
That's a hell of a lot of speculation without proof there.
-
Yes, I've been thinking that for a while. I really don't think it looks good for the AFL to have a staff member constantly denigrating clubs in an impartial manner. That is one I think the MFC can have a legitimate complaint over.

I have here, repeatedly. They were wrong about Clarry being traded last year. They were wrong about Petty. They were wrong about Kozzy (and if we're on the topic of misappropriation of the truth, one thing that was truthfully reported is that Kozzy, like he does every year in his exit meeting, states he is homesick, and works with the club to ensure he has constant engagement with his family, which Whelan does very well, I spoke to Kozzy's dad about that last year, and he is more than happy with the way the club works with the family. but as soon as the media hears homesick, their instant response is "He wants to be traded interstate!"). They were wrong about Viney, they repeatedly get things wrong. They extended the contracts or re-signed 17 players this year, and only 1 person has asked for a trade. This is documented proof of things the media have gotten wrong. Yesterday McClure couldn't even get Clarry's home town right, leading to his mum blasting on social media. FFS, stop being chicken little!

So tell me, what have they said that's been proven to be correct? Note the word proven.

9 Reasons to be Positive Heading into 2025
Katrina Dee Fan replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
What has the media got right in the last 12 months or so about Melbourne? Clarry going last year? Petty? Kozzy? I wouldn't trust those media leeches as far as I can throw them. -
Are you really sure you want to run with that? It's been reported in the media. Please. Morris is notoriously way off the mark majority of the time.

9 Reasons to be Positive Heading into 2025

How do you know? -
Based on what? Some unverified rumous? Please. And for that you'd prefer to through the baby out with the bathwater while he's in the middle of negotiating, for the first time in decades, a viable option for a home base, with no back up plan to run a multimillion dollar organisation. Are you one of the ones the other day on Demonland saying "Ooh, Jimmy Bartel could be good as CEO!" Yeah, like a degree in social work is going to be useful....

I don't think suing them would be viable. And really, the only regulatory body that covers press, The Australian Press Council, are as weak as [censored]. Unlike broadcast and digital media, there is no government regulator for press, only a voluntary industry regulatory body, which is akin to being slapped with a wet towel at the beach if you breach any of their regulations. It's why they're able to get away with so much.

With who?

So I take it you prefer it when the media are tearing us to shreds with bulldust? -
9 Reasons to be Positive Heading into 2025

A massive plus missed in that article is the number of players under 22 Melbourne played, more than any other club. Rivers, Van Rooyen, Turner, Windsor, Brown, McVee, Howes, Laurie, Bowey, Tholstrup, Moniz-Wakefield, and yes, I'll add Kozzy even though he turned 23 midway through the season (and Rivs at the end of the season). And then there are the ones who haven't debuted yet (Seston, Verrall, Adams, Jefferson, Kentfield) and the potential to get a couple more father/son recruits in Yze and White. This is what excites me, the future of the club is looking pretty bright. Our stars are ageing, but our youth are shining. -
I’d say a combination of two. Andrew Mackie comes across as seriously shifty.
-
Whats telling is in the comments section of the Facebook post of the article, one comment in particular from Michelle Oliver, Clarry’s mum.

Sorry, I misinterpretted. I shouldn't post after letting Year 7s frazzle my brain!!!
-
It's coming from supporters of other clubs and our own supporters BECAUSE it's coming from the media, don't you see that? The media are the ones setting the agenda. No one would be talking about this at all if Manure et al kept to not making up stories.
-
the sh*t show is the media's. They've been told that he's not going, by both Melbourne and Geelong. The media are literal sh*tstains on society.
-
I take it you haven't been to a B&F, the players mingle with guests, pose with photos, have a chat, have a laugh, it's not a matter of guests harassing players, it's encouraged at the event.

Things are "a bit of a mess" according to Shane Woewodin
Katrina Dee Fan replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I spoke with Woey at the prematch function in Perth before the Freo game back in August, and I get the impression from him that apart from his son playing for Melbourne (which Woey said was his choice), he still hasn't fully forgiven Melbourne for his treatment back in the early 2000s. He seemed rather guarded and skeptical back then. I'm wondering if that offers some perspective and context to his thinking.- 14 replies

All good, and I get where you're coming from. I am a high school media teacher, though so I'm well versed on motivations of media organisations and reportage, particularly on what may influence their behaviour against models and theories of media communication. My opinions of the media are steeped there. I am proof it's possible to simultaneously love and hate media :)

I find that so laughable. Sydney base that on a Morgan Gallup poll. I mean, if random people were phoned and asked "what AFL team do you support?", of course 99% of Sydneysiders are going to say Sydney, same as 99% of Melburnians would say Storm if they were asked about NRL. Does it mean they actively barrack for them? Clearly no. They would only have said that because it was the only AFL team they heard of.
