I'm a fan of our AFLW team and the standard of footy across the league is dramatically improving.

The fact is they don't draw the same attendance or media eyeballs as the men yet and payments are consequently a lot less.

That doesn't mean they can't be paid at least a liveable salary.

Haha yes. Witnessing my first dees premiership in the flesh.

    An unforgettable moment ❤️

I was there, too, an unforgettable day.  Paxy asked me the question the next day if being there made up for not being able to go to the men's grand final.  I think she was please when I said more so, because I'd been part of the journey since the exhibition day, being a foundation member of the women's team, being a player sponsor, all that.  It was a special day.  I'm sure I was captured on Channel 7 doing some fierce ugly crying in the moments after the siren, embarrassingly enough in the presence of Kate Roffey!

She's a ripper...My comment re her and Garner is not meant as a put down, I just think Goldie might be the better match on pure defensive terms. Shelley might get the job and it wouldn't surprise me, she will be a real pain in the a... for Garner and may hurt more going the other way.

I didn't see it as a put down, either.  I think it was a fair enough comment. It's a good point about Goldy, and I think you could be right, but man, I love Heater!!

Just on Shelley, our pint-sized #30 is only 160cm and lucky to weigh 50k dripping wet, which can make her appear unimposing. But she’s a black belt taekwondo champion. Such an accomplished person and she’s only 23yo. ❤️💙

I think people underestimate her because of her small size, and the fact she has the face of a 12 year old.  She's a sweety, but man, she's as tough as nails!

Adelaide premiership defender Najwa Allen has been suspended for three matches.

In a ten game season 3 matches is the equivalent of 7 or 8 in the AFL. Blimey, that's tough.

    Good for us though

I can't say there's much sympathy for her from me.  Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.  Do that in the men's comp, the penalty would have been far more severe.

Petty did throw in the line in one interview, that if he was happy he could extend at Melbourne, as he loves everything about the club, players, coaches etc.

I suspect media being media there has been much edited from the interview to shape a particular narrative.

I see what you're doing there, Katrina, but Harry Wayne Casey (I looked it up!) was urging the subject, who everybody wanted, to 'give it up', to him?

    Don't encourage Reid! 😄

Well, not that one anyway, #number1pick.

Yeh, I get it.  I'm not necessarily into versus though, I'm more into the chorus of "nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah, baby give it up, give it up, baby give it up."

All that needs to be read in to that.

Melbourne would give up on the pursuit of McAdams 1000 times over losing Petty.

This.  This isn't Melbourne pursuing McAdam, this is McAdam requesting a trade to Melbourne.  Melbourne can just as easily say no thanks.

My read of all this is his manager trying to leverage the South Australia connection to pressure Dees for some additional cash in a contract extension.

He is imo possibly our best contested mark - an area of the game that we don't bat particular deep in - for that reason and the fact he has shown great promise as a KPF he is must keeper.

Could not give a flying about either Tilthorpe of McAdam neither of whom are any better than average AFL footballers on their day.

His home town is not Adelaide, it's about a day's drive away on the other side of the bay.  So to say trying to lure him home is ridiculous.  Maybe South Australians like Cornes need to understand the geography if their own state.....

  10. Adelaide continually going after Petty to me is reminiscent of the naughty kid in the supermarket begging his mum to buy him a packet of M&Ms long after she said no.  It's embarrassing to see.

Meanwhile them thinking Petty is comparable to McAdam is even more embarrassing.  Why would Melbourne trade a Jaguar for a Toyota?

    See what I did there?

All too late, but I was surprised that the biomechanical evidence wasn't challenged.

Sure, once he had left the ground, his trajectory was ballistic, and he couldn't alter it. But actually, the trajectory of his centre of mass was ballistic. He was perfectly able to reconfigure his body around that centre of mass - he chose to go into a bump configuration. He could have done otherwise.

NRL has eliminated the kicker being flattened like Gus was.

This is what I find galling about the whole thing.  He got off because no one in that tribunal hearing challenged his numerous lies.  First he said he did not travel forward while in the air, then he admitted he did, but only 1 - 2 metres.  He stated he felt the ball hit his hand, video evidence shows it went past his right elbow and missed it by about 5 inches. He stated he leapt from a standing position on both feet, video shows he was running full pelt and leapt from one foot from his running action.  The most galling is him saying Brayshaw changed direction before he kicked it.  This to me blows his whole "It was an attempted smother" argument - the tribunal accepted he was in the air before Brayshaw kicked the ball.  So if he wasn't expecting him to change direction, it can't be a smother, because he would be expecting the ball to go wide to his left.  It didn't, it went to the right of him.  Ergo, it was a charge, not a smother.

And they let him get away with it.

The Swans opening offer of 46 and us having Schache as the sub before Grundy was quire pointed

If we somehow get a pick in the 20's we might be liable to pay some of Grundy's salary (as the Pies did)

Not according to Collingwood, who yesterday said their deal was with Grundy, not Melbourne or Sydney.  Collingwood would still be liable.

  13. With both Collingwood and Melbourne wanting pick 25 for Adams and Grundy respectively, I can't see Sydney getting both.  Both Melbourne and Collingwood have told these players that they are required players and a trade would only happen for the right price.  This could be interesting.

Funnily enough, last night when I mentioned this on a Facebook thread some Sydney nufty said the deal could be done if Sydney and Melbourne do a straight swap of pics - 14 and 25 for 12, 27 and Grundy.  I asked him if he though Melbourne would be that stupid to go with that, given they'd be basically giving Grundy away under that scenario.  Strangely enough he hasn't responded.

    Too many [censored] supporters.
