What we have lost
Hope is dangerous.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
I know this prediction above is a joke for Saturday and we'll probably manage to get 20K, but we could genuinely get 5,000 people to the West Coast game at Marvel. In 2015 we got 8,000 people to a home game against GWS at Marvel, but hope was growing by the week under Paul Roos and we were winning 2 in every 3 weeks that year. If we're 2-17 and the game is hidden away in the 4:40 Sunday slot, I genuinely fear what the crowd's going to be that day.

Kozzy Limps Off the Track
My take from that is Kozzie will play and May will miss.

Kozzy Limps Off the Track
As much as I love watching him play, and he's been in our best 6 for both games, his return hasn't had a material affect on the team. Two 40 point losses confirm that. And he won't have a material affect on the result this weekend either given how far off the pace we are. Playing or not.

What we have lost
Not an answer to the question but that was an underrated win in a danger game. Hawks had beaten Brisbane, Collingwood and had just knocked off the Dogs in a big upset. Agree that ANB's been a bad loss. You convince yourself over summer that he won't be a loss but you end up kidding yourself. If you watch the mini replays of the early 2024 games, you'll notice ANB feature in so many goal involvements. Whether it be centre clearances, 1% ers by way of knock ons, tackles or kicking goals himself. Without going into details for those that know, was his request to SA genuinely warranted?

The Luke Beveridge Thread
Gut feel says he'd be a fantastic boost and would sell a vision to the players straight away. He can sell a story to his players. I can recall in our game against them in 2020 at Metricon (yes COVID years) Fox Footy interviewed him just before the first bounce and he mentioned that he reved his boys up with some random boxing fight that nobody had heard from like 1961 or something. The Dogs and Dees were on the cusp of the 8 at the time in a must win game but they came out far more invested than us and beat us quite easily. I'm also weary that he's had just as much of a roller coaster coaching career as Goodwin and has had absolute gun elite players like Dunkley and B Smith head out the door.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Voss out suspended upsets their forward and back up ruck structure with Jackson already out. Not that it matters at this point time.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jack Henderson
Yeah I think itโs time he goes to Casey. If youโre getting 4 touches a game as a small forward youโd be wanting to impact the scoreboard, but he had 0 score involvements and was correctly subbed out. We need to get some height into our forward line. The likes of Spargo, Sharp and Henderson arenโt giving us much.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
How on earth is the line for this game 14.5 pts? So essentially you can almost double your investment if Freo win by just 15 points.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Essendon kicking 2 behinds in the final 3 quarters and not missing a set shot to save themselves probably didnโt help matters.

NON-MFC: Round 05
Port are definitely a team that picks and chooses which week to show up.

Time to go Goody?
Hopefully the club examines Sydneyโs departure with Longmire. A departure held with class and not one person would think any less of Longmireโs legacy. Just a coach that ran out of ideas at the business end and needed a break.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
100% agreed. Fremantle was one side that troubled us during the 2020-2023 era of competent MFC football. Longmuir completed owns Goodwin. If Freo are in a mood and hunting percentage this could get ugly.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Henderson had 4 touches. An obvious out. Terrific story but heโs not adding any value. Once Jefferson is fully fit, Iโd be playing him in week in week out. This club is beyond screaming for proper forwards and we spent a first rounder on this guy. Give him the entire year and let him build some synergy with JVR and one of Turner or Fullarton. Letโs get a proper forward structure going.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Our pathetic lack of applying pressure. Canโt or wonโt? If itโs the former then we need a new head of fitness. If itโs the latter then we need a new head coach. Either way you wonโt win a game of footy if you lose the pressure count week in week out.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Goodwin hinted that McVee might return via Casey which is sensible. No need to rush him.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Given our recent issues against Freo i think this is the week we hit rock bottom. As in our first 80+ loss for the year. I assume Goodwin will coach for a 12.8.80 to 7.8.50 kind of loss.

Chicken, lettuce and mayo please.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Langdon was absolutely our best player. Will probably win our B&F purely based on consistency. You know what youโll get every week from Langdon and the gap between his best and worst is very minimal. Can you say that about any other senior regular?

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
And rightly so.

Time to go Goody?
I raised this last week but hopefully tonight, the press ask him why our last quarters are so uncompetitive.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Do yourself a favour and get to our home game aganst West Coast at Marvel in round 21. Will likely be our only win for the year.

Time to go Goody?
Now that Voss has finally won a game, the media are going straight for Goodwin this week. And heโs got Fremantle next week, who along with Collingwood, is the team that troubles him the most.
