  1. Hope everything is OK with Happy E.
  2. And we have Dangerfield wanting 16 minute quarters and someone else (Pies no doubt) wanting the clock to continue running at stoppages. They already have a flag from causing 100 stoppages in the last 10 minutes of games knowing the umps won't ping them for HTB.
  3. Given the AFL answers to nobody, it is entirely plausible.
  4. It's up the top next to the headline.
  5. This in the article is interesting:
  6. Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood. [censored] clubs all sadly on 16 flags.
  7. They guess on so many. Most of the high contact frees are chest high tackles paid as high because the tackled player throws their head back.
  8. Maysie https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/steven-may-blows-up-at-controversial-score-review-call-during-melbournes-clash-with-carlton-c-14610051
  9. It is sports entertainment these days and the AFL don't answer to anyone, not even the clubs. The media will pick up something, mainly for clicks, but drop it just as quickly. The Pies won a flag based on turning the last 5 minutes of close games into a series of scrums, knowing the umpires were reluctant (or refused) to pay HTB against. HQ know how much they can influence without heading into being accused of match fixing territory. Interestingly Leigh Matthews has called for the Rules Committee to exist again. Unlikely given anything that gives a scintilla of control to anywhere outside of HQ (Australian Football Council, Rules Committee etc) have been usurped by HQ. It is all about control and they have a tight grip on it. FoxFooty tweeted about the 'race to 17' being on. Amazingly all three of these teams are either doing well in free kick differential or are situationally advantaged by umpiring decisions (or non-decisions).
  10. It was 8-2 at quarter time and 12-3 somewhere in the second. The refusal to pay the same frees both ways is why the accusations of favouritism or cheating come. The coaching they receive has to be a contributing factor.
  11. They just went with the mantra - #freekickcarlton
  12. HQ answer to nobody. Can and do effectively whatever they like.
  13. Takes a little while to get to sleep but over it by the next morning. That said did see a bloke in a Carlton cap while walking to the pub at lunchtime and my fist did get a bit twitchy.
  14. Reality is it is sports entertainment now and HQ are in profit maximisation mode, so $$$$$ generating teams like Collingwood, Sydney and Carlton will get a better run than other teams. Carlton Collingwood GF would generate massive revenues, even if everyone else would rather the stadium implode.
  15. As soon as I hear that, I know there isn't any. If there was, no need to mention it. Bit like 'at arm's length from Government', which means 'we interfere all the time'.
  16. I reckon two six day breaks in a row is OK - we won 3 straight in 2017 like that, but the week after (another six day break) had an absolute shocker. It is the accumulation but the third break was one too many. Carlton have an 8 day break now.
  17. It was an official score review though, as I'm guessing the ARC said 'hold play - score review'? Seems they looked for about 3 seconds but gave no indication on the decision other than the ball being bounced. There are games decided almost every week by terrible umpiring, and it seems the same teams benefit every time. If it isn't cheating then at the least it is bad coaching of the umpires. I think the umpires coaches are steering the umps in certain directions through instruction on what to look for.
  18. Dirty [censored] cheats
  19. Vince McMahon must be the umpires coach.
  20. The media will say bugger all about the umpiring. An email will find them reminding who gives them accreditation.
  21. Umpires save those [censored] again. Every [censored] time.
  22. Cheating. Plain and simple.
  23. By them and the maggots
  24. Biggest wankers in the league. Worse than everyone.
