Had a look and can fly Hobart-Cairns-Perth-Cairns-Hobart for around $1000, with some accommodation on top of that. Still keen to go. EDIT: actually that would require quarantine unless the Qld status changes to very low risk. Just found Qantas direct Hobart to Perth return for just over $850. Not booking yet as do not want to tempt fate.

Have the GFG but flights from Hobart to Perth are currently $1600 return. Could fly to Adelaide for $300 return then road trip. What an adventure that would be.
