  1. 37-68 inside 50’s We had the same conversion rate of inside 50’s. About 45%. 38-39 tackles If you get smashed around the ball and take less tackles… where’s the pressure? Pressure is a mindset and willing intensity thing. It’s one thing individual players can control. The thing that has changed from previous years is our mids aren’t only not dominating, they’re getting obliterated. Our game depends on them getting the job done and if they don’t fire, no Dees. Not like we played well anywhere on the ground today. But the midfield dominance has papered over cracks as we rely so heavily on it.
  2. I think we lost today because Venus is in retrograde and we didn’t sacrifice enough animals on the alter of Satan. Or it’s the globalists or something. I think the AFL has also been microchipping Dees players to make them underperform. I also think some players were hugged too much as children. It’s difficult to write a nonsense post on par with some of the things being written in this thread but it’s tougher than I thought.
  3. That’s genuinely disgraceful
  4. I mean Ugle-Hagan STILL hasn’t kicked a goal for us so I think it’s deserved? (I genuinely can’t tell if this is a joke or serious comment)
  5. I swear when Lobb was playing for GWS he was a serious (almost gun) ruckman/forward. I’d watch GWS play and he would be pretty consistently prominent. Was that incorrect? Or has he dropped off massively since going to Freo then Dogs?
  6. Garcia for the dogs looks promising. Been noticing him for a few weeks now. He’s able to affect games.
  7. Geez Darcy is a player. He looks more composed that JUH and more consistent already.
  8. Doggies!!!!!!!
  9. The Bont is such a good forward. What a player
  10. C’mon dogs!!!!!!!
  11. I clearly don’t have the presents of mind to spell correctly tonight.
  12. Harder than both Daicos brothers. If he gets to their level of impact on games I’ll be wrapped.
  13. They’re both absolute guns and who cares how ‘hard’ outside running goal kicking freaks are?
  14. Sam Darcy at 20 is better than Rory Lobb at any age.
  15. Hate to say it but it’s true, their gameplay takes care of itself. They don’t look like they suffer very much no matter what the injury.
  16. Probably beating a dead horse but it’s amazing how the premier mainstream broadcast can have 3 commentators that suck energy out of a game. No charisma, no insightful takes (I reckon Richo was much better early on and he’s fallen to BT and Brayshaws level) and from a very basic broadcast perspective they speak in monotone!!! It’s incredible to me that there isn’t someone in production telling them to EMOTE MORE WITH YOUR VOICE. They are a constant distraction from the game from how ducking boring they are
  17. Osava Ratugolea doesn’t look like he’ll survive as a defender. It doesn’t look like his natural position at all and he looks panicky… any chance we could turn him into a 1-2 goal a game big forward that chops out in the ruck?? He isn’t going to keep his spot the way he’s playing and in Ports forward line there is clearly no room for him.
  18. I would not be surprised if Ross Lyon is in this camp in a couple years time.
  19. I personally thought it was called very well and opened the game up. Less ball ups and players cramming around the ball. Worked well and ironically probably did the thing the AFL wanted by not calling it: created a more free flowing game and created space
  20. Darcy Moore has a substantial head.
  21. I’m liking the adjustment of holding the ball so far. It actually means players have to run and spread when they get paid!
  22. Yeah 100%, good points. Player fitness, athleticism and zone defences mean the grounds have basically been made smaller. And the 1v1 dynamic, which I think a lot people that watched footy prior to 2000ish really miss. Will Jacovich beat Carey? Silvagni on Ablett? I would love to see that dynamic become more important as team based football isn’t really as romantic as epic 1v1 clashes.
  23. I get the impression the AFL is about trying to play cat and mouse with coaches to how they adjust to the rules (trying to keep it free flowing) vs the media picking up audience grievances and adjusting on the fly and it makes me think, if congestion is the issue and ‘free flowing’ is the consistent aim, just make it 16 on the field? Limit interchanges more and add 2 spaces on the bench? Seems a better overall (albeit large) change to the game rather than constantly micro changing rules to try and open things up which leads us to this point. How many years have we had this conversation about how messed up rules are being umpired? I’d rather they bite the bullet and make big changes than this because I love watching footy but jeezuzz it is frustrating when these situations come up. It does detract from the game and I’m not a person that often complains about the style of modern footy.
  24. Make it 360 degrees, pin incorrect disposal, pin unrealistic attempt to dispose of the ball, uphold prior opportunity. I see players frequently get tackled and make ZERO attempt to get rid of the ball (not even the fake punching the ball) and it gets balled up even when they had prior opportunity. That’s not how Aussie rules works??? I have no idea how we got to this stage but it isn’t that hard. Keep it simple, pay the free kick and teams will adjust.
