We got beaten in the middle and Richmond pressured us really well in the first half. We also kicked 12.2 against Freo and 5.4 against Richmond to half time. So really, if we hadn’t kicked so straight in that first half against Freo, we probably would’ve lost.

Are people really berating Fritsch though? The vast majority of criticisms (on Demonland anyways) are pointing out flaws in his game as something he needs to improve upon.

It’s interesting to me that McKay was talked about as a gun full back whilst at the Roos, then I watched him play at Essendon and I thought he must’ve had a huge drop off in form

Yeah I’m being a bit tongue in cheek. They’re not head and shoulders above everyone else. Bears/GWS aren’t playing their best, Crows look dangerous. Geelong are Geelong. A lot of footy still to go this season.

He’s becoming the new Nibbler in terms of setting base standards of effort in game for mine. Maybe not in terms of running, but he’s gives 100% of himself at every contest. Awesome to watch.

I’m not doubting you when I ask this, but why does it look like we run out 3 quarters fine (as in we look fine right up until 3/4 time) then in the 4th it’s like the shutters go up? It’s really odd.

I reckon it needs to be said, Richmond absolutely had our measure in that first half. Watching their wins against Carlton and GCS, that was Richmond’s best half this year BY FAR and we were playing really good footy. They pressured us more than any of the games I’ve seen. North/ESS/GCS/GEE… we played some of the worst footy I’ve seen for probably 10 years. Couldn’t hit 2 meter handballs, couldn’t hit targets by foot, couldn’t tackle, constant long bombs etc. etc. etc. woeful football. First 3 quarters tonight were really good. Last quarter wasn’t great for sure (and it’s a problem we need to address) but we got the win when it easily could’ve been a loss.

What are you talking about? If we played how we played against North tonight, we would’ve lost by 100. Easily. The difference between how we’ve played against North/ESS/GC/Geelong is massive.

Yep. Gawn is the GOAT for mine. The amount of wins he generates all over the ground has saved us for years. He papers over A LOT of cracks.
