NON-MFC: Round 22
Essendon have had 12 Thurs/Fri/Sat night games this year which is an interesting decision by the AFL considering they are rubbish and have done sweet F-all for 2 decades. TWELVE

May to Tribunal
Oh cool, so May was wrong for going for the ball and not initiating contact, therefore he should have tried to tackle Evans, at full speed, absolutely obliterating him, and he would’ve not even been sighted. Got it 🥴

May to Tribunal
Oh you’re right, there’s no way this will result in a suspension, the media has decided that, haha

May to Tribunal
Gleeson said in the May case: ‘Both players had a clear and unimpeded view of the ball and of each other... May made no attempt to change his path, his body position or his velocity at any time leading up to or in the contest. As a result, the effect was that he ran through Evans at high speed. A reasonable player would not have done so. May did not have a lot of time to do so, but he had sufficient time to avoid or minimise a high speed collision with a player who was gathering the ball...‘ Both Newcomb and Howe also had a clear and Unimpeded view ✅ Newcomb made no attempt to change his path, body position or his velocity ✅ As a result the effect was that he ran through Howe at high speed ✅ Newcomb did not have a lot of time to do so, but he had sufficient time to avoid or minimise a high speed collision with a player who was gathering the ball ✅ If the argument was ‘Newcomb tried to tackle’ then I could say, he had plenty of time to slow down to ‘minimise a high speed collision with a player who was gathering the ball’ but didn’t. And I don’t think Newcomb should be suspended in and of itself of this incident, but if May gets suspended then I don’t see how Newcomb doesn’t given the rationale Gleeson used applies to Newcomb. Edit: in the Archer case Gleeson said that Archer didn’t slow down at that the velocity was at which he ran was the incorrect metric. He said it was ‘too little, too late’ in slowing down. So: Newcomb didn’t slow down either, resulting in a concussion.

May to Tribunal
Newcomb could and should have realised that he remained unlikely to get to the ball first. Had time to slow down, duty of care to avoid a collision (alah, Archer from North) resulting in a concussed opposition player. Newcomb doesn’t even have Mays excuse of the ball changing direction on the last bounce. There is no grey area here. Can’t wait to hear King defend this tomorrow morning.

NON-MFC: Round 22
Based on the logic of the May suspension, he absolutely should. Wether he does is another question.

How you doing?
Oh mate, [censored] bring it on. I’d put this season down as a success if we can pull that off!
-
Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
How very dare you. That’s pistols at dawn talk.
-
NON-MFC: Round 22
Yeah Nibbler definitely makes it an easier choice. Crows are also just so good to watch and Dawson is an absolute star.

NON-MFC: Round 22
P.S. I think I’m an Adelaide supporter this finals series
-
NON-MFC: Round 22
Should be a ‘if you want to play finals you’ll need to get passed us’ mentality the next 3 games. End off on a strong note and crack into these teams physically.
-
NON-MFC: Round 22
Oh yup. Evans face got smashed up from a glancing blow, if May did what Newcomb did to him he might not have played again this year!
-
NON-MFC: Round 22
That’s the beauty of ’should’, ‘could’ and ‘reasonable player’, you can almost arrive at any outcome you want. You and I could have vastly different interpretations of all 3 of those metrics.

NON-MFC: Round 22
3 weeks to Newcomb. Way worse than May.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Reactionary isn’t the opposite of proactive. Reactive is. Reactionary means a person that is opposed to social and/or political progression. Sorry, I’ve heard people start to use reactionary in this way and it hurts my brain, not trying to be a pedant.

What role did Alan Richardson play?
😳 What did Mark Bickley say exactly?
-
How you doing?
Perfectly fine. It’s a ball game and Goodwin is a millionaire.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Interesting that Gazza mentioned the club had a confused identity of the team. Is it team first or individual first essentially. Don’t know many successful teams that aren’t steadfast in being team first.

Simon Goodwin respect thread.
Thank you Simon for the flag and all the best for your future!

Simon Goodwin Sacked
I was working whilst listening to the presser so only half paying attention, what did Green say that was so amateurish? Genuinely asking too, not saying it was/wasn’t.
-
Simon Goodwin Sacked
Just heard Goodwin is free!?

Struth! Thanks for the flag Simon, you gave me something I never thought I’d see!

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?

NON-MFC: Round 21
There’s probably very good reasons and I just don’t understand, but what if we got rid of all the recruitment zones, father-sons, academies and just have a ‘free market’ essentially? Would that not be an equalisation in terms of availability for all clubs? Won’t fix everything obviously but I don’t get why we segregate players. (I understand they want the Sydney clubs to have an advantage etc.)
