I'd guess that there's not enough room or money to build us a stadium, administration, a pool, a gym, conference rooms and ideally a second oval for Gosch's to become our home. I'd say Caulfield has the room and the prospect of housing both our sides in comfort.

If Adelaide want him then the club needs to extract fair compensation. There’s no reason these situations can’t be a win win. I’m old school and still prefer one club players but this is the corporate, money driven world we live in. Although I’ll add that from reports it appears there’s a go home factor in a lot of these moves. So in actual fact these players are moving to be closer to family, which I guess is my kind of old school. Sheesh life’s hard to get your head around at times! Either way losing Petty won’t make it break us, from this off season it appears we may already be broken!

If we’re not going to match the money sounds like he’ll go. Time for Taylor and Lamb to go talent hunting!

Is Harry Petty running or walking or sitting or lying?

Watching us wet the bed against Collingwood and then watching us against Carlton play the most undisciplined game I've seen for along time. This list is as good as we're likely to see and one flag doesn't cut it. Injuries are an excuse and yes they were unfortunate. We were still a better side than the pies and we lost our nerve. There's an ever so slight soft underbelly to this team and other clubs know it and they exploit it. Watch Cox crash into Gawn and win the first 10 hitouts of the QF and help set up the win. Gawn remains our most important player and clubs will continue to hit him hard to unnerve us. It's why I think he's also our biggest weakness, we're simply too reliant on him.

I think 22 was forgivable, last year we let ourselves down massively in the finals........and before anyone says we only just lost those games.......please think first.........Collingwood pantsed us in the first quarter and a half and then we gagged in front of goals like a 12 year old trying to ask their first crush out on a date but just can't.........Carlton.......FME....we should of beaten them by 6-8 goals in a canter but played undisciplined, scared to lose football............injuries didn't lose us the either of those games.

He's clearly giving himself an opportunity to succeed. It'd be a great story if he debuted this year.

Who will be the Judd McVee of 24?
Roost it far replied to samcantstandya's topic in Melbourne Demons
The one I'd love to see bolt into McVee territory would be AMW. If he can replace Chandler, who I think is a solid but limited player, then we'd have a far more dynamic front half presuming McAdam becomes a solid contributor. I'd also really like to see Turner become the 3rd tall. For mine Tomlinson is a May backup and remains depth. The 3rd one is Howes. I have no idea if he has the tools to make it but if he's quick with a penetrating kick who can run all day then I think there's a spot on a wing for him. If Adams of Jefferson are playing seniors then our injury list is season ending... -
Sestan looks to have lost substantial weight. Could he be the smoky?
-
You can't fix it with Viney, Petracca and Oliver as your 3 starting mids, none have the footskills to regularly hit targets. For mine we need to get some clean users through the middle and forward of centre.......BUT..... Is Rivers disposal good enough?? Does Salem move to wing/forward?? Are any of Woewodin, Howes, Windsor or Billings up to the task?? Whilst I think Hunter has been good I yearn for a pacy wingman with a long, penetrating kick. Again we look at the players above. Personally I don't see Goodwin making any substantial changes and he'll just roll the dice that we can stay fit and eke out winning scores from our entries. Personally I think our gameplan is so entrenched that we risk going backwards to fix it and then losing our key talent to age in the years ahead. No wonder they wanted Reid so badly.

Agree with others on Adelaide, certainly a chance to push into top 4. How I'd love that trainer guy back at the dee's
-
Our 3 most important players are Petracca, Gawn and May.......I'm in no way saying your 3 aren't important but lose Petracca, Gawn and or May and we're done. As a lifelong Dee's optimist this season leaves me feeling a little flat. I was certain of success last year and those finals hurt more than any others apart from the 87 Prelim. We are responsible for a Pies flag and only a flag will heal my pain.
-
After this years finals my faith in this team to deliver has faded. Anything other than a Flag is a fail from me. May, Petty (forward), Gawn, Fritsch and Petracca need to play the last 12 games unhindered and we’re a chance. Lose one or more of them and we’re cooked.
-
I’m not attacking him personally but the team discipline in that game was atrocious. The week prior we got jumped by the Pies and wet our pants. We’ve now lost 4 finals in a row. We just missed a golden opportunity to win a flag and we all know how rare that opportunity is…..so yes I’m a bit cranky about watching the pie scum with our medals. We have a list that demands we play Preliminary finals as a pass mark. We now sit below that pass mark and he’s the Boss. I’m pretty sure he’d be the first to admit the last 2 games weren’t his best. Also it’s a footy forum, surely we can pot the coach occasionally! Anyway you’re clearly a passionate supporter and I like that you go into bat for the team.
-
Well he’d want to improve on his last match……that was a howler

I’m hoping AMW becomes a AFL player this year. Jefferson won’t play AFL unless our injury list is extensive. Laurie is a maybe but unlikely. Yes to Turner, got to give the kid some games.

We didn't run out of gas, we wet the bed against Collingwood and gifted Carlton a shot through poor discipline and burning team mates. -

Wouldn’t another player in the mould of Aaron Davey just make us all feel better about the complete schemozzle we made of the finals last year. Chances that good don’t come around often. -

If Collingwood or any other club for that matter had our record over the last 2 seasons and the off field issues to boot we’d call them a rabble with a poor culture. Sure we’d be exaggerating for our own enjoyment but that’s the words we’d use. The fact is we’ve folded when it really matters. Clubs know it and the Pies exploited it in the QF. Carlton didn’t need to exploit it, we handed them the win with our worst team game in years. I don’t care about the margins, we lost a gilt edged opportunity to win a flag. That pisses me off and the club as a whole is not at the level it needs to be to win the flag. I’m an optimist when it comes to the Dee’s, always have been but the end of last year showed there’s plenty to be done. -

Yes I added mayo but I don’t shy away from how bad we were that night no matter the final margin. We were so clearly the better side yet we handed them the win from our lack of disciplined, team first football. The very same standards we hear the club go on and on about……there’s currently more talking than walking imo. -

Rewatch the Carlton Final. For a club that talks culture at every opportunity It’s a complete train wreck, pure and simple……
